Oh God, OMG! If you knew a thing, you would know that not even Ness is the first Earthbound character, so yeah, that's a bad example and Balloon Fighter is WAY more important than Alice, unlike Ness and Lucas, who are in the same league.

Cause he was the current Earthbound character at the time, Sakurai wanted Lucas in Smash since the 64 days, but due to Earthbound 64's cancellation he had to include Ness.

Balloon Kid was released for the original GAME BOY system.

I didn't say a trophy confirmed them, but if Alice is really THAT popular, why isn't she the one with the trophy and NO, a first gen gameboy game is not retro is not even early 80's

Who the hell said that Sakurai is not attracted by popularity? Balloon Fighter is an option because he is a retro character like Pit and Ice Climbers, something Alice is not, and he is the one that was going to be in Melee but got replaced by Ice Climbers, not Alice, that pretty much answers your question.

No. I see a Slime (for Enix's Dragon Quest) and *GASP* CHOCOBO for Square's Final Fantasy!

Black Mage has NEVER had a game of his own. Neither has Moogle. They don't stand a chance against Chocobo. Black Mage had 1/6 th of importance in FF1, and was named Vivi in FFIX.

The cameo appearances from 3on3 hoops use the art from.... where again?

You got it right again.. Chocobo TALES and the Chocobo Franchise as a whole.

Alice is like Little Mac. They both appeared in their own games of the series they are in that has a plot, they both aren't generic, and their titles don't require scoring points as much as beating the games.

Adding Balloon Fighter in SSBB would be just like adding Wire Boxer from the Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! arcades. They both don't have names. Even though, Balloon Fighter is like a superhero name or something like that, it's actually the name of his occupation. And the Wire Boxer isn't called "Challenger". In the Tingle RPG, there was a reference to the arcade Punch-Out!! titles, which had Tingle's name underneath the word, "Challenger". That means the challenger is Tingle, duh. Both the original Balloon Fight and the original Punch-Out!! arcades were about scoring points as high as possible, but today, most people are bored of scoring points, because you don't get a surprise. Scoring points could lead to this kind of conversation:

I understand why Alice has a very small chance at appearing in SSBB. Everytime I look at Balloon Fighter, he makes me picture the faces of Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. The way he dresses is similar to the way Lode Runner, Spelunker and even Mario dresses. Boy's who like fictional, cute female characters aren't gay. Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew (known as Mew Mew Power), and Azumanga Daioh! are filled with many girls, and boys like those shows.

I bet Sakurai doesn't want to add any young girl as a playable character.
