You make me Zz Z....

I might turn into a Kirby main if I don't fix up my Ness before winter break starts. I did significantly better against my friend's Marth with Kirby than I did with Ness, and the worst part is Kirby is also disadvantaged against Marth. >.<

Wtf is a reverse 3 stock?

And I'm not really into RC, too much stage movement for my liking and it's got some dumb borders and those blocks are quite annoying as well.

Reverse 3 stock... you're at one stock and your opponent is at three, then you take all those three stocks before your opponent finishes you off.

DLA did that to me one Kirkfest a LOOOOOOOONG time ago.

I just started to main Ness like a few months ago. Anyways, Ness is a good character, but I like Lucas better for a few reasons. My friend taught me a few things about Ness. He taught to do Back throw if my opponent's damage is above 100%(never would've thought to do that :p) and a combo. I'm pretty sure there are better combos, but he taught me this one: PK Fire, grab, pummel, down throw, then FAir. I used to PK Fire then bat. Also, does doing FAir while double jumping make Ness go slightly higher?

@Yoshi, AWESOME!

The reasons why Ness isn't a good character against some people are a.) Grab Release stuff, b.) some moves are a bit laggy (PK Fire, PKT, PSImag, DAir (if not done correctly)), c.) his ground game isn't great.

FAir doesn't make his second jump higher.

Honestly, when someone is stuck in PK Fire, it depends on how you got them there for your followup and the character that they're playing. If you play someone with a reflector, walk in a little bit and try to perfect shield the reflector. If you do, you have a chance at punishing with either yoyo or fsmash, depending on the character. Against most people, getting the grab is a good idea, but sometimes you'll get footstooled trying to grab them. Another way of getting at someone in the fire is either RAR'd BAir for the person who is near the edge of the flame or SH FF DAir to try and ground them and start a jab lock. The DAir would need to be delayed slightly so that the opponent doesn't get hit by the last 2 hits of the pillar while on the ground. If the DAir pops the person up, FH and try to read where they're going to punish with either UAir or something else. Basically, when someone's trapped in a PK Fire pillar, you have to play around with his mind.

BThrow should be used around 110% on most people to be safe. Snake, 135% or higher.

Something I wonder, why is Ness higher tier than Lucas? Because imo, Lucas' moveset is better. He has stronger smash attacks(except for the bat) with higher KO potential and his PK Freeze and Stick are faster than Ness' PK Flash and his Bat. Lucas has a tether recovery and he gets more distance with his recovery and his PK Thunder turns sharper and continues even if it hits the opponent. Lucas' PSI Magnet can also damage his opponent and will turn around if he gets attacked by an absorbable projectile from the other direction. I'm not saying Ness is a horrible character though. If someone can explain this me, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm probably forgetting some things about tier listing, so it'd be appreciated what needs to be considered for tier listing as well. I just want Lucas to be slightly higher in tiers.

Little known fact: uair actually gives Ness a slight boost upwards and has done so since 64. This was more useful when aerials DJC so Ness could return to the stage with an l-canceled uair.

^ I like you repping the hyper Ness in your sig. <3
Haha thanx, yeah hes pretty stoked about it too cant you tell.

Yeah Ness is pretty boss. Just be careful with back throw though, It is an awesome kill move just remember stage positioning and character weight and you should get the kill every time. And if your gut tells you that you might not kill the opponent just tack on some extra damage to be safe. Hmm PK fire combos are only as good as the opponents DI. Imo Pk Fire to bat is kinda risky (They can still Pshield it while in the flames) ide rather follow up with a grab or or a spike to push them back into the flames and you just might even get a jab lock out of it. As for dbl jumping with Fair Im sure its just an optical allusion.

Knowledge is Power.

B-Throw's the worst move in the game, PSI-Magnent is what you should use for kills.
Yeah B-throw is pretty garbs, PSI-Magnent is to easy to kill with its so broke.

I Use PSImag all the time, therefore I'm a baller.

gotta use it on the ledge, so people think you're unsafe and then they get killed.

@yoshi, Honestly, Ness has better KO potential. BAir, UAir, Bthrow are all very easy to hit with in certain situations and if those end up not killing, they deal enough percent to make some simpler-to-land moves good to kill as well (Nair is good by 150%, utilt depends on character, ftilt near ledge is good at 120% almost always, and if you need to punish something funny, Dsmash is an unexpected move that actually kills reasonably early [but can be DI'd easily from the charging hit])
Lucas' FSmash is better than ours. DSmash and USmash shouldn't ever hit a smart opponent if you're using Lucas. Other than those, most of his moves can't really kill early at all. He can damage rack slightly better, but he has the same problem with ness of 1.) GR, 2.) most of his stuff can be shielded properly and punished, and 3.) short range on the moves that need to count. Also DANG, SLOW PKT!!! SUCKS!

Ness also has much better reps in the various regions, and is among the top in a few as well. Lucas doesn't have this except for maybe Pink Fresh who I don't think is very active atm.

Lucas's hit boxes, while large, are very disjointed. This can make spacing in a lot of MU's (including vs Ness) harder while not as bad for Ness. So he's got a more solid base on the roster too.

EDIT: Ya, Lucas also has no approach, for the most part he has to lazily space with mid-air PKF.

I want Paula and Masked man as playable characters and Poo, Jeff, Duster, Kumatora, Boney, Ninten and maybe a few starmen as assist trophies, and I want Threed, Winters, Tazmilly or Mt. Itoi as stages :3

Well my informant tells me that Lucas' PK fire is absolutely useless and if they shield it they can get a grab on you every time. That's why i practice PK fire-ing in air so it just gets the person before lucas hits the ground, slightly less move time used. Also, yes, i absolutely hate the extra ten frames on both of them. I guess i just click more with lucas, because he reminds me more of the ness from 64(quick bat, long range PKT2) play wise. Then again, Ness is ness, and the more i use him, the more i discover his similarities. Ness is now a close secondary/almost equal main.

And if you're smart and play mindgames, it's actually not that hard to get a good Usmash or Dsmash on someone every once in a while, as long as you don't make it a habit.

As for PSI magnet, well, yeah, self explanatory. I don't see it used often enough in battles between ness and lucas: "Oh hey, i'm about to use PK Thunder to recover!"
to which the other responds:" Yummy yummy health!" Before proceeding to PSI magnet the other's PK thunder. Man my bro and i get some annoying kills on each other like that.

But since this is a discussion about ness, i shouldn't really say much more on Lucas. I like both of them, and i see both of them as having potential if used correctly(don't start on the MK vs. best player in the world using ganon scenario, i've heard it all before.)

I was playing a friend on wifi about a week ago, and I got Lucas on Random, and I got an uber sexy Double Magnet kill on Ike. It was scrumptious.

I just want Ness to return in SSB4 and not have stupid grab release **** on him.
Don't we all? Dang... the only reason I do poorly against Marths is this. Not even just the GR Chaingrab (I get out of that somewhat quickly), but the fact that they have a free Fsmash and Dsmash out of it is dumb....

Dungeon Man for top tier. And yeah GR on Ness needs to get kicked out , If that happens I shall unleash the most agroNess Ness in all of Ness history and sit back and drink some Nesstea while my opponent screams at me saying it was uNessessary for me to spike him even though he already couldn't recover.
