Melee Brawl 64?

Anyways, as long as it Champ Combo in the title, I support it 100%

EDIT: Melee Brawl 64 sounds like some sort of horrendous release title for N64

definitely melee and brawl. I'm thinking maybe have round robin for 64 since not that many people will enter. Then two people with the highest battle it out.

hmm. Summer sounds like what people want right now

I think running a 64 tournament on the side is going to act as an unnecessary burden. It's as you say, not many people are going to enter so it's just a waste of time.

well....if neal runs this like every other champ combo....we could throw in a massive game of monopoly and everything could still get done in one day.

super champ combo ended at like 7PM or something amazing like that. i felt like i was robbed or something. almost asked for my money back, but then i realized it was one the best times in my life so i let neal slip.

wait, isn't neal running that one tournament in boston this summer? I think CC64 should be sometime before then, spring break perhaps?

There are going to be plenty of Brawl majors, so all melee or melee/brawl are probably the best bets.

yes

should be a melee only tourny. let's have a melee only tourny for christ sakes, the community's proven in recent weeks we will support it

and we'd also get OOS to come forsure

that makes absolutely no sense to me.....

if i hold a melee tournament tommorow, and a brawl tournament 5 weeks later......there is no effect on how long those tournaments will take.

and melee would most likely be first and you could just leave....

not to mention we are talking about nealdt here.

if theres a champ combo, and theres melee involved in anyways (maybe even intense friendlies) then i'll DEFINITELY go.

From all the experiences I see right now, a brawl/melee usually last forever because there are players that play both tournament. I also feel that melee being in it's own corner and brawl in another corner is kidna wack.

What I'm thinking is, hosting a 3 day tournament. Melee on friday, Brawl on sat and sun. This way, both will run as efficiently as possible and will get full attention. Another idea I have is to actually have it on two different weeks like the first Champ Combo. Have melee for two days on one week and then the next week have brawl. So both events will have two days to do singles, doubles, and crews.

The 2 week option would be the best, but the main problem is the OOS people. Not many of them will be able to stay for two weeks so they would only be able to come for just one event.

Then there's ssb64, but I'll figure that out later.

i wasn't saying brawl wouldn't finish because melee was the day before or the day after

a Brawl major isn't going to finish in one day. if we're talking 200+ in attendance you're going to need 2 days to run it. Axis was a pretty good example of how bad this can go. 300 people, only 1 event, still didn't finish on time

this is the only reason this might be possible, but I don't think we should put all that weight on his shoulders.

Champ, as much I like the idea of a Champ Combo 1 layout it, makes it really difficulous for OOS. It's already a pain to get housing in Socal for a day, let alone a week; and the only alternative is commute twice from OOS, which is ridiculous. 3 day tournament sounds like a pretty good plan, but can you find a venue at a reasonable cost for 3 days?

edit: lol at subconsciously slurring difficult and tedious... i like it

i gaurentee you i could of ran axis by myself.....at least 2 hours faster than those idiots ran that with their 5 "staff members" if i had their microphone system. matter of fact i could of done it with only their main room. and thats with plaink camping his *** off.

name any 1 hour where you didnt see at least 5 open tv's. they didnt even use the tio station manager lol. id be willing to bet at a few different parts (not counting friendlies going on tv's) that there were around 15 tv's not being used half way through the tournament. they called there 32 tv sets one match at a time....and didnt call another round until all of the previous matches were complete because they had no idea what was going on with tv's due to the lack of station manager.

if axis is any indication of a brawl major, its how a brawl major run by stupid people turns out. i never even played my first opponent, because they couldnt remember what tv they called us on or who my opponent was because they put him in under the wrong spelling or something. so they simply put me against someone else and gave me a win lol.

yes, but the point is if you have to be super stringent in everything to get the tournament ran in time, the tournament itself really isn't any fun as a result

i mean if there was a major *** tournament with EVERYONE good going, but the only rule was no friendlies and it would finish on time, i sure as hell wouldn't go. that's why i didn't go to the OCs, because i heard from everyone that that's how it was gonna be. even then i'm glad as hell i didn't go to the OCs considering the horror stories i heard about it.

there really is no major difference between melee and brawl tournament lengths. ive run plenty of my own for both games.

ive been to the OC's, i was at axis. ive seen a ****ty tournament take all day and night in the same venue that super champ combo took half the time in. ive seen what works and what fails in major tournaments and all im saying is axis is a terrible example of anything pertaining to tournament length unless you are talking about how not to do things.

a brawl major with singles and doubles is 100% possible in one day with 200 people. all it takes is enough tv's and a loud enough microphone for everyone in the room to hear you. something easily accomplished in luigi's church. not that these are the same thing required for a melee major.

i like the two week idea, melee one week, brawl the next
plan this waaay ahead of time so we can get major OOS representation

if theres a lot of interest for a 64 tourny, and if we have 150+ people coming, im SURE enough people will come to run a 32 man bracket or so, if enough people show interest..maybe isai will come :)
u can delegate the 64 tourny to someone else whos interested, and just let them run it on the melee days
