I think Snap hit the nail on the head with his big post. I mean, fast reaction times and good tech skill are helpful, but the game is mostly just about knowledge and out-thinking your opponent.

I myself improved greatly just by learning match-ups alone. It's not like I raised my IQ or learned a bunch of fancy advanced techniques to make myself better (or learned to momentum cancel even....).

It's true that some people just don't have the natural talent to excel at the game (at reading, predicting etc.), but you really shouldn't count yourself out until you build a very solid knowledge repertoire for the game. Just learning things and then adapting can help you improve wayyyy more than you'd think.

tl:dr- Acquire more knowledge and then put it into practice. It'll take your game far.

I use tap jump with everyone I play because I've learned to up tilt without jumping. It's superior when it comes to efficiency with your fingers I believe. In brawl if you tap jump and buffer an aerial with the c stick it will force you to short hop. Except for up on the c stick because that will jump cancel up smash, great for up smash out of shield for characters it's good with. With Wario I remember seeing fiction up smash OoS sean's mk's short hop nair to win a game in grand finals. It has it's uses but if you're not comfortable with it then don't worry about it though.

Well if you tried to buffer a u-air normally with a jump button and A, then you'd still perform a jump cancelling up-smash.

I make multiple names on my wii for the different chars I play. Some I play with tap jump on, most I play with it off.
Some characters like Falco for instance I change some of the buttons.

Uh probably past that, I think they've been as late as 9P.M-midnight? iono I haven't been to a Smash Stacks in awhile. It really matters on who wants to stay or what not, Bragaw never really closes

Smash is kinda sh*tty. I'm gonna quit after MLG.

I've been playing less and less Smash, but I really don't like the notion of "quitting" a video game. Unless it's something you pay a subscription for, like WoW, why quit? You can still play it when you want to. You can still enjoy it with your friends. If you have an otherwise boring weekend, you can still chill at a tournament and watch some cool matches and play friendlies.

I just feel weird about the idea of having to "quit" something like Smash.

If you don't feel confident enough in yourself or that you'll get enough enjoyment, then don't make any extra efforts to go to tournaments for a while. Or if you plain don't enjoy yourself at them anymore, don't go to any. But just because you don't want to put money on the line doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the game (competitively or not).

Not ragging on people who want to quit. I empathize with them. I just feel that having to quit places unnecessary extra stress and weight on yourself in that situation. I say, play as much as you enjoy at any given time. You aren't paying anyone a subscription and you have the right to serve your own interests.

I don't think I've met a person I really don't like yet in all the tourneys I've been to. There are some I avoid because of how they smell or something like that lol, but none I straight out don't like.
