please people don't listen when I tell them to do this so seriously. pay attention. THINK ABOUT WHY YOU GOT HIT. THINK ABOUT WHY WHAT YOU JUST DID FAILED MISERABLY. WATCH YOUR HABITS. IF YOU ALWAYS ROLL BEHIND SOMEONE WHEN YOU'RE GETTING SHIELD PRESSURED FOR EXAMPLE, TAKE NOTE OF THAT. GOOD PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR HABITS AND THEY DESTROY YOU. MIX IT UP. Some games come naturally to people with little effort. This game however to me is not one of them. I don't always have to free time to play this game to get better. I'm stuck doing a crap load of practice on wifi which wifi is the worst online gaming experience I've ever had( sorry for those who like it but xbox for the most part ***** wifi). So my skill sucks and doesn't translate well when I go to tournaments. I do like to play a smash but I'm a competitive gamer and losing every fight just isn't fun to me anymore. It would be different if I won a few of them or even saw myself improving but I don't. It's a awesome game and I've had fun playing it but I need to play a game where I stand a chance winning and had that natural feel Gears of War did for me.

Yeah. It's dumb it sucks so bad online. I usually love online gaming it's a great way to practice for most games. Nintendo just sucks nuts and ruined this game.

Ehm. wellp this is where snap comes in and makes a silly speech.

Scott,

A couple of months ago I walked away from brawl because I felt like The game didnt come naturally to me, that the game was too gay AND Wario was too ****ty. then one night i was hanging out with kadaj and things just clicked. its strange that i had to play this game for a year before i understood its ways but thats just how it goes. This game is not a video game, its more like a puzzle. Two people just thinking against each other, metaknight is basically the only character that you dont have to do this with. Rag once told me he likes brawl because when he wins, he fees like he has completely outsmarted his opponent. I realized that this game is just about reading and thinking and knowing. not actual in game skill or realitive tech skill. You CAN NOT get what you need from wifi. Period. you can not practice online. lucky for you, UNLIKE ME :( you live in the most active area in North Carolina for smash. Expand your outreach, practice with shady and Keith or foxy (there are probably a lot more Raleigh area guys lol) Me and stingers and Cory dont have that blessing, so use it bro. if you want to get better thats the way to do it.

But if you want to get better with wario sit down with me saturday and ill teach you all my tricks ;)

Cory said after SOS2 that you could be a really good wario after awhile. You just need to put the work in buddy.

Thanks man. Your the only reason I wanna go Saturday. You've been nothing but nice and chill with me (same goes to a few others). I just feel I'm not improving as fast as I need to. I do practice with Ledger an Jon time to time offline. I mean I love this game its hands down my favorite fighter and that's over SF4. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong and I I have what it takes to improve and get to the level I wanna get to. I can be very dedicated but dedication only goes so far then skill takes you the rest of the way.

Who is Cory??

Cory.=Kale.

Anyway, a good way to think of this game i find, is to not think of it as a fighter at all more like a vs mode platform game. Jon and ledger are good guys but Keith is (cant believe im complimenting Keith fml) good at finding a players flaws playing him would help a load.

scott, how fast do you "need" to improve? what is your goal? power rankings? placing top 10 at nationals?

take a look at yourself and take a look at those people.

now, differentiate between gears and this game. a shooting game is accuracy with a target and tactical based. very little similarities between the games.

now, it's probably HARDER coming from those types of games and doing well in smash just because of the difference in competitive play learning.

in smash, there's a lot of theory and technical things that can only be understood through time. you can learn all of the "techniques" as soon as your fingers allow, but to know how to use them is experience based. and you can be told all of these situations ahead of time, but until you've tried out different things and convinced yourself confidently of the correct options, it will take time to get there.

you can't see the hundreds of friendlies replaying similar scenarios that have led to a fine tuned game (or thousands for m2k lol). there simply are no shortcuts in smash. it's heavily experience based. and many people have been going to tournaments longer and more frequently than you have so the only thing you can do to help yourself get better is to think about the game and play more games. if you do both, there's no doubt you will get better
