My First Tournament

So as you all know Apex is coming up extremely shortly (HYPE)
and because I'm on Long Island and not many tournaments are hosted out here (and the ones that are hosted I always miss T_T) this will be my first tournament
Are there any specific things I shoould know before I get there?
common courtesies, unspoken rules, or just be people to stray away from.
anything is appreciated

Also no stabbing or fighting people in real life.

yell use teh Ph1RE when you see a roy player.

Tell people when they have pretty eyes.

lose and win at least one match

In midwest in friendilies you MUST play one match as falcon we main him

hate on wobbles

Dont go and expect to win anything. If youre new to tournament settings chances are youre going to get r@ped by almost everyone. Dont get discouraged. See it as a learning experience and work to get better for next time.

1) Read the MBR Rule Set and know well the process you go through in each set, otherwise SleepyK some players may become frustrated they have to tell you what to do.

2) Definitely call next game or you wont play

3) When you get 4 stocked like you might as well not have picked up the controller, ask who they are. I played H@x's falcon and I didn't even know it

I think I played against Oro and his eyes were soo pretty I hated myself for not talking him. Well he ***** my sheik and my pichu ***** his puff and he basically only played as samus so yeah I thought it was that guy.

Also always let INSANE CARZY GUY do livestream it's so amazing unless he has to talk about peach dittos or something.

I know the feeling, my first tourney was rom 2. I got ***** pretty bad but it was amazing. Don't be afraid to call next during friendlies and don't get discouraged when you get beaten. Oh and at big tournies like this, there's at least some ppl who nubs like us can keep up with

When discouraged bash your head into a solid pillar it helped me when a lot of falcos ***** me at my first melee tournment.

Play with as many different people as you can, good or bad.
Most good players will give you advice, if you ask
Otherwise, always take mental notes to what other players are doing, whether it's in your own matches or someone else's.

$1 mm good people. Ask and learn, tell people youre new. Most smashers will help you out if you ask, have fun in friendlies. Falcon dittos are godtier ice breakers.

Although APEX won't be Pound 4 good, I'll compare them because P4 was my first tourney.

First things first, if there's an empty tv, hop on it. People will come and play you that way and you auto have a match there, unless someone has to do a tourney match. Call next match / ask if you can get next match, I always ask because I don't want to be a ****. Ask for advice after the match and hopefully play that person again so he can focus on what your doing wrong.

Watch matches. This seriously helps just as much as playing them. If you feel smashed out, go watch pro smashers, especially people who play the same character as yourself. Learn what they do in those matchups and try to apply them to your own game.

Don't be afraid to become involved in the hype. I'm a quiet dude, that being said I still ****in cheered for M2K at P4 and was in the chants. It's definitely a lively experience, tournaments that is.

Make friends, hang out with people you know and if you post on the boards, talk to people who you've had convos with (they will have tags on at APEX just like P4 I believe).

Ask for names before you play that person or when your leaving a rotation. When I was getting ***** in Fox dittos, I learned I was playing Replicate and some other good Foxs, definitely made me feel better considering I knew these names.
