I know he's super big in Japan
He's like the mascot of the 4th gen
Okay. And I should care... why? So he's the Mascot. That buffers his chances, yes, but I still don't see why you (An American, who is not Japanese, and has not played any of the games in the 4th Generation as they have not come out) support Muchlax. Is there an actual reason, or are you just jumping on the Munchlax bandwagon since he's so popular with everyone else?

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon if you noticed i don't really want him in but if he is in i'm fine with it as long as lucario, deoxys, and blaziken are in

Omg. Is Munchlax some evolution or pre-evolution of Snorlax? Why can't people just leave the good ol' classics alone!? Snorlax was one of my favorites. **** YOU FOR DEFILING HIM!

Well, excuse me. I stopped caring about Pokemon when it started to SUCK! First 151 Pokemon were gold. They needed more to continue to sell. But after the three hundred mark everything went freaking down hill. The last GBA game I played was Silver. The first movie won and the one with the legendary birds was pretty good. I think they're trying to hard now. Can't we leave what's good already alone?

Silver was GBC, not GBA, the GBA games are actually pretty good. And If you liked RBY, you should really give Firered and Leafgreen a go. Theres all the new crud they put into GSC, set against the good, lovable original 151.

Munchlax & Snorlax Own :D
another munchie suport thread <3

check my moveset out:

Munchlax:

Special Moves

B Stockpile/Spit Up: A fast charge, once charged you press B again & Munchlax will spitup, shooting a beam of energy from his mouth, if you hold B down while shooting, you can use the control stick to alter the angle.

B + > Metronome Punch: Randomly chooses between either Fire,Ice,Thunder,Shadow,Dizzy or Comet Punch. Fire effect is similar to pk fire, Ice frezees depending on damage, Thunder makes the target unable to move for .5 seconds then aplies damage, shadow is a longer range punch (twice the range, leavs dark burn) dizzy switches the targets controls around (left is right, right is left) & comet punch deals good damage but knoks back the enemy quite a bit.

B + ^ Hidden Power: Some orbs start spinning around munchlax, then he goes straight up, can be controlled fairly easaly & may turn midair.

B + V Bounce: The key to Munchlax playing is this attack, munchlax trhows himself to the ground, if the B button is presed right when munchlax touches the ground, he will bounce, use stick to alter the angle, big aerial combat for munchlax & he gains speed by doing this (each bounce a bit faster depending on angle) Some impressive bounce/punch combos could be done, munchlax should become quite aerial.

Bounce Picture (possible bouncing)

Spit up angle

Munchlax key to being a mayor tier, should lie on his bounce attack, sorta like an improved wavedashing, all his moves are directly from pokemon games, in the ground he should just be a normal mario type (balanced) but once mastered, he should be a total aerial menace.

ok.........isn't this like the third time you've posted that same moveset here?
and when does munchlax learn bounce
as far as I know, spoink and grumpig are the only ones who can use bounce
(for those who don't know, spoink and grumpig are pigs with springs for tails)
(also for those who don't know, bounce(flying type) is about the same as fly but you can't use it to travel and spoink's and grumpig's attack stat sucks(since they're psy) so it's kinda useless

Official Gnobe/Munchlax Thread

Japan Name: Gnobe
U.S. Name: Munchlax
Height: 2'0" (0.6 m)
Weight: 231.5 lbs (231.5 kg)

Combat Video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FgOSTVJFduA

Characteristics

Munchlax behaves quite opposite of its evolution, Snorlax, as it is somewhat hyperactive, though it is very similar with its eating patterns. It does not mind walking and running from place to place as it looks for food. It is generally seen in urban city streets where it scrounges for food, even in trash cans. It is similar to Snorlax in this respect; it is almost always hungry.

In the video games

Unlike the other fourth-generation preview Pokémon, Munchlax has already been seen in several video games released in both sides of the Pacific. The first was in Pokémon Dash, as a racing opponent in normal GP. Next, in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, one particular Munchlax sometimes eats the Poké Snacks the player leaves to lure wild Pokémon. If it does this, the owner will give you more Poké Snacks as well as other items.

In the anime

Munchlax about to kick trash as seen in Destiny Deoxys

Munchlax about to kick trash as seen in Destiny Deoxys

Munchlax’s official debut, long before the release of Diamond and Pearl, was in the seventh Pokémon movie, Destiny Deoxys. In it, a lone Munchlax lives among the alleyways and meadows of LaRousse City and occupies itself by playing a kicking variation of basketball with bottles and trash cans. It steals the picnic food of Ash and his friends during the night before Deoxys attacks. Later, when the security system of the city goes haywire and everyone inside is swarmed by security cubes, Munchlax evolves into Snorlax to keep itself afloat. Its belly then serves as a physical stepping stone for Ash to climb up to the chief robot that controls the system in order to shut it down. The movie seems to claim Munchlax can learn Mega Kick, and Bounce.

Later on in the anime series, Ash and the gang find a wild Munchlax, which May captures, in "Berry, Berry Interesting." It is also the only Pokémon that wasn't affected by and actually liked May's Purple Surprise (a pokeblock which caused May to pursue and succeed in catching Munchlax). When May saw Munchlax busy and tried to catch it, it almost ate the Poké Ball. A second later, the Poké Ball activated from inside Munchlax's mouth and was caught. In the episode following it, May receives Professor Oak's special Snorlax pokéblock recipe. Now rechristened May's Pink Surprise, it will, when fed to Munchlax, makes it bloated and satiated. It doesn't often obey May. Once it comes out of its Poké Ball it always scrounges for food, even in the middle of a battle. Munchlax seems to pay homage to the behavioral issues of Skitty (one of May's other Pokémon), the Wobbuffet owned by Team Rocket's Jessie and Misty's Psyduck, albeit with a higher level of intelligence. It learned Focus Punch in the same episode Ash Ketchum's Pikachu learned Volt Tackle. This one appears in the eighth movie Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew

Moveset 1 (pokemon game style):

Moveset 2 (diverse, anime/dash)

Munchlax could also be a new type of character, a flying one thanks to his baloons
as seen in pokemon dash, hes quite fast using hes balloons, he could become heavier or lighter eating pokeblocks/snacks and alter hes speed and stuff.

B Pokeblock Barage: Munchlax takes out his pokeblock case & bombards the enemy, he can alter the attack, either to bombard (directly down) , launch (side with good strenght) or throw (diagonal down). this attack is quite fast, lots of projectiles, 5 damage per block aprox (balance would be up to de devs of course)

B + ^ Baloon Boom: Munchlax's baloons overinflate, making munchlax gain height fast, after a bit, the baloons will pop, making him "terresetrial" again for a while till hes balloons regenerate

B + V Bounce: his baloons go away, he goes into a dive

B + > Focus Punch: HARD HITTER, lag afterwards not before.

more moveset ideas comming soon, ideas or movesets always welcome.

I don't like that. It seems kind of over powered and would make it really hard to get out of. That would make DIing hard as I see it. Plus you need to put a time limit.

Not relevant.

and Very Popular
Relevant, though relative. He's only got that kind of popularity in Japan, not in the US.

Hes the preevolution of the most used pokemon in OU metagame
The Pokemon metagame is played even less than the Smash brothers metagame, and I don't see Nintendo listening to our ideas. Not relevant.

Hes "cute" to some, cool to my eyes.
Not relevant.

He plays a good role in the anime. (he even saved ash's life in destiny deoxys)
Paras plays a good role too. So do three hundred other Pokemon.

Hes the OFFICIAL 2nd mascot of pokemon.
How?

He eats & eats & eats & eats.
Dumb.

I still don't see anything cool that another NORMAL-TYPE Pokemon could bring to the game, especially over other (and better) types like Fire, Ice, Water, Grass, Ground, or even Fighting.

Um...why is there another Munchie thread? The original is fine. You just wanted to make one yourself.

McFox, Munchlax IS generally regarded as the mascot of Pokemon, but more for the 4th generation than the whole series. You ask how. Well, how is Pikachu used as the mascot? He's overused. Japan slaps him on almost everything Pokemon-related. And, might I remind you, that the only reason Jigglypuff made it in was because she was immensly popular in Japan.

the other Munchlax thread was pretty badly made & lacked supourt READ!
this ill keep updating, discusing, etc.

Munchlax for a normal pokemon learns a good 34 elemental attacks, including:

Flamethrower, Thunder, Ice Beam, all elemental punches, surf, shadow ball, the list can go on...

the pokemon metagame is MORE played than melee, for every big smash tournament theres 10 BIG pokemon tournaments.

I'll leave this one open, seeing as how we like threads to encompass a lot of what people are saying about the character, so that new people can find good resources on the character. That being the case, an updated topic is usually better than an old one.

THAT SAID, don't start remaking a bunch of character topics. I'm not closing this one right now because I don't feel like it. But if a bunch of people start remaking character topics, I'll just close all the new ones.

Munchlax is still boring.

I have the best Up B ever!

(Balloons? I don't know what to call it.) : Like Peach's umbrella, only it goes up, not down, and uses balloons. Yes, the startup also goes down, instead.
