The term 'Princess Rosalina' seems right to my ears. I don't have any crazily complicated theories on that, I just like the sound of 'Princess Rosalina'.

She was originally planned to be Peach's sibling actually. So it may be possible that the developers planned her to be another princess. I just glad they didn't go making her as another damsel-in-distress like Peach or irrelevant to main games like Daisy.

We were just talking about it ,and in the end is funny because we technically can agree since i don't see the ''Princess Rosalina'' term accurate ; I think it might be possible but it also can be wrong since the developers as of today never adress her as such in official media. In fact they seem to be careful and refer to Rosalina as a cosmic traveler or mysterious figure , etc , excluding Baby Rosalina who is irrelevant because she is not canon.

Baby Rosalina is the result of :

Not touching Rosalina's backstory since forever ago + Time issues + easy to make + taken from a popular character.

Anyway , i always though Rosalina wore her crown because she was a Leader , the head of the Lumas and the Cosmic observatory .

I want to order this online. I really wanna try it, but I poor as dirt right now.

I made a mental connection a few years after playing SMG that Rosalina perhaps did indeed acquire her superhuman attributes from consuming star bits. I think she and the lumas (and maybe bowser?) were the only ones to eat star bits in SMG, which may have been where they all got their powers (lumas transforming, bowser building galaxies etc. although bowser also ate grand stars so) (and mario got his powers from not just the typical power ups but also the lumas). I would wonder why she was able to lean out of her spaceship and into space to capture star bits with her net in her story despite the insane cold temperatures and lack of oxygen, but Mario Characters don't seem to rely (much?) on breathing, judging from how they 'hold their breath' in all the underwater levels they've been in since the first mario game. And aside from snowballs/ice attacks, cold stuff doesn't seem to hurt them, although I'm likely wrong there.

And in regards to her having some sort of rule over the other mario characters (princess/goddess role), I think the crown may have been something she was given as a child (so maybe she really is royalty), or she may have created it, or it may have been fashioned for her as a gift by the luma(s). I personally don't feel she's meant to play the god role in the mario universe for a few reasons (if someone could link me to or provide the counter arguement for that that'd be appreciated).

And I'd also like to note she seems really crazy smart, since she was able to rebuild a spaceship and assemble a ton of stuff into the observatory while she was young.

It is just a game world though, heh. I didn't do much research before writing this but I felt I'd offer my 2 cents before the subject gets dropped.

The only source you need for the goddess role is SMG itself. She's unquantifiably old and seemingly immortal, she pulls new powers out of nowhere in nearly every game, she is referred to as "mother/watcher/protector of the cosmos", she has reset the universe countless times - I could go on really. The implication is quite clearly there, and I can't ignore it. Palutena from the Kid Icarus series has much less power and responsibility than Rosalina, yet she's a goddess. Same goes for the other god/goddess characters in that game. Don't see why Rosalina wouldn't be one considering that.

Where Rosalina got her powers from is still completely unexplained though. I can't agree to the Star Bit consumption theory, as Star Bits don't really have any special powers. They're just Konpeito candy in the context of the Mario universe.

I see Rosalina wearing simple clothes mostly, if she were to be among us. I imagine she'd really like sundresses too.

Also random thing, but I've been watching a Kingdom Hearts II playthrough, and I forgot how much Naminé looks like Rosalina. She's basically what I imagine a teenage Rosalina would look like.

What makes it an even more fitting comparison is that she draws picture books:
