Quand ya du people qui crééent des topics pour une ville dans le québec, y finit toujours par poster dans le mtrl thread pis laisser couler son thread. Je vous propose de renommer le thread ''Thread de la Province de Québec'' ou kkch dans le style pour apporter moins de confusion aux nouveaux users de swf. Meme si oui, je sais, Montreal thread est plus un icône qu'un simple nom de thread pour le monde qui postent dedans...

joel, The spam got problematic. Nobody hates random spam once in a while like you say, but for a period of time, it was 85-90% spam. That wasn't good. Shiz' tattoos was like, one post out of 100 talking about possible tournaments, biweekly planning, etc. And randomly, people get their ******s all bloodied up. That's why I posted like so.

Since I go to school i'm pretty charged of homework all the week but im almost always ready to play the week-end. I already played jarc and im about to play him another time (probably tomorow). Hypocrite? I never said that I never spammed. I'm just saying that you can have a balance between a full out smash thread, and 400 pages of spamming. Coming here and saying that you don't want "any" spam just because you don't like a certain kind of spam is not being very open in my opinion. Aside from that, I know that I'm known around the community, but I never used my status to downgrade someone. Don't try to make me look like something I'm not.

I read your comment for... about 10 minutes, and now I understand, I think. I see what you mean, but it's still no reason to lash out at Shiz. He didn't bring back nothing, you can't forget the past, there are 400 pages to prove that. Smokey said that he'll start thinking about a SF/SSBM tournament in a week (so in latino/haitian slang, this means minimum 2 weeks), so we should get started around the end of the month for STYD2. I'm gonna ask you people to go on the WC vs EC thread, and ask them to get active on a date for the trans-canada tournament, so that we can set a schedule of the major events in canada. I think there's trans-can, styd2, and a major north american tournament that are all possibilities. BUT, I don't know if styd2 will happen, it all depends on the dates of the other 2 tournaments and if there is a MLG...

The Montreal region Super Smash Bros. Melee community, all gathered on the biggest unofficial SSB:M forum in the world (http://smashboards.com/), has recently been looking for a venue to host bi-weekly gatherings for semi-pro and pro players, be it for friendly matches, or small scale tournaments. Your venue is a very promising locale that we've discovered. With a variety of different gaming needs being attended, a very professional attitude and large tournament qualifications.

Now, I'll begin with the main question, and then develop from there assuming (and hoping!) that the answer would be positive, this way we can continue discussions about this project faster in future e-mails.


Is it a possibility for you to accommodate us with a regular, bi-weekly console gaming space to host Super Smash Bros. Melee friendly games and tournaments?


If so, here are the main concerns we currently have :

- How many TVs would be available for use?
- What is the current available equipment related to the event? (Gamecubes, controllers, games, memory cards, rf adapters, RCA cables, etc...)
- What is the maximum amount of players you could accommodate?
- Would it be possible to host these events on the same day, once every 2 weeks?
- If so, what are the availabilities of regarding hours of the day and days of the week?
- Would there be a specific fee or would there be a special tarification for these bi-weekly events?
- Is there nearby restaurants, or do you sell/provide meals?


In return, the community would be more than ready to help provide TVs, Gamecubes (w/ necessary cables) and especially controllers; since it's the custom to bring our own controllers, there would be little need to provide them for us.

These tournaments we’re organized by us, the gamers. As you can see, we are trustworthy and have a profound desire to play this game as much as possible with as many different people as possible. Our main goal is to attract new players to the community, as well as get together with people that we already know, but can’t get in touch with very often since they live far away. If we are able to find a venue that will host this kind of event, it will give us a chance to see old friends and practice for upcoming tournaments.

I'd have to agree with those saying some non-smash posts are good. It's a community, not just a bunch of people playing a video game. Talk about smash itself can only go so far; we're at the point in the game where most of the community knows how to do 99% of the advanced techniques, knows about character matchups, etc. so it's not like there are going to be long conversations about any of that. I personally don't mind hearing off-topic news about people I've met in Montreal; Wak learning new languages, Shiz getting new tattoos (they look good btw ), etc. Talk dying out = community dying out.

Hey, look on the bright side; at least the Montreal thread isn't ending up like those crazy Ottawa threads! Oh wait...those die after 10 posts
