wow holy crap while i've been in hawaii sb smashers have all come out of their caves lol

the other day a guy contacted me with like a group of 6-8 smashers here >< they're going to be here when school year starts late september though

venue will be at the goleta library conference room most likely. equipment... i have like 5-6 setups between my friends and myself (i just have a spare tv lying around for this occasion lol)

hopefully ppl pull through for 3-4 more set ups to make these monthlies quick and fun.

im going back to sb on monday... hope you guys repped at oxnard

and monthlies will definitely be on weekends... probably saturday from 11am-whenever
okay that's cool. I thought you were a campus organization/club and could get space in the Ucen and access to their TV's

btw Junk...I may have met you if you are who I think you are...did you happen to live in San Raf last year or know/play the guys on the 6th floor?

yeah, you're allover the place. Smashboards, Rusty's... and Smashboards.

And looks like we've gotten all the attendance we need for this to happen. Now we just need a date...

I would recommend the first week of school since there's only orientation programs going on and classes don't actually start till Thursday. Those programs are useful if you're completely clueless as to how college works and/or would like to get to know people in the dorms, but for non-first years like me it's a great week to relax, do nothing, and in our case play smash. Unless you get a mean prof that assigns hw the first day, which only really happens in upper div, that would be the best time for everyone to get acquainted and for a get-together IMO.

Second weekend works as well assuming you haven't died in IV on the the first weekend

yeah, before actual classes start would be good. before Sept 27th would be best because that's when my friend ( a **** falco in melee) has to start school at UCLA. But that's just what would be ideal.

well it was just a suggestion...

well if you don't mind skipping all the orientation stuff then it shouldn't be a problem...

just out of curiosity are you staying in the dorms? I figure if you are you don't know which one yet since they haven't mailed room assignments yet

nah I already went to freshman orientation. but we still don't have a date... so it's pretty pointless to talk about skipping stuff atm. but I'm not staying in the dorms.

btw, gosu, do you play melee?

well different orientation...I assume you mean you went the that summer thing where the most important thing you do is pick your class on GOLD...if you aren't talking about that, then you some how leaped into the future during the first week of school and attended those programs held only during that week of school and no other time.

and true Junk get a head count and start planning...we need a date...

as for your last question I technically play all 3 and like all of them but I'm not really a competitve player, although I'm compotent; my heart truely lies in starcraft. From what I understand there seems to a schism in the community between melee and brawl but that's a topic in another/for thread and an argument I dare not enter.

...I seem to have a talent for adding superfluous information that no one really cares about

first week is just **** around, or they like to say you're "getting acquainted to dorm life".

really fun week.
Yeah...basically more programs to familiarize yourself with campus orgs, dorm life, a bunch of socials, a bunch of tours of various parts of the campus, that big convocation where the chancellor gives a boring speech for freshmen and transfer about how your next 4 (2 for transfer) years are gonna be great and diverse and blah blah blah.

nothing really vital and/or crucial but as junk said fun

if you want the crucial info ask people who have been there and aren't afraid to tell you the truth...

for instance you can't torrent in the dorms, if you hide your alcohol well and drink discretely then you can have it in the dorms, IV is not that great for partying unless you have the right friends, and the bus is free for students so you don't have to walk 1.5 miles to costco (which I did all freshmen year)

yeah you'll be coming to the monthlies right? i know you're not much of a brawl fan but...
well it's not that I don't like brawl it's just that my friends just wouldn't stop talking about the one crew battle; I've moved on, they're still kinda depressed.

most likely I will be there if I can get a ride...

and hopefully it doesn't fall on the weekend we have LAN parties cuz that's my first priority since I'm vice chair of the AS tech committee
