I think the RVS is necessary for peopleto start a bull**** cases off of someone else's joke/random vote in order to get the game going. One of the most telling things about mafia and individuals' alignments are the side's that people take. So these early jokesvotes are necessary because they lead to usually lacking arguments[sometimes not tho], which causes the players to take sides and comment which then lead to producing actual content that will get the game rolling.

I personally don't think I can pick off tells from the RVS like some people say they can. Also, I believe that the RVS wouldn't be necessary if people could find a way to generate conflict and argument from something else. Maybe game mechanics or something of that nature.

@Marshy - I've been reading a lot of the recent mafia games lately. That combined with the fact that I've been spending way too much time on this site instead of doing homework anyway I figured I might as well get back in to the swing of things.

Yeah, I did indeed say that but it's not actually worth mentioning in retrospect. It was on the social boards of a german gaming site, where I played Mafia for about 3 months. It was nowhere near the level of SWF Mafia and most games were a lot smaller too - it didn't really help or affect my SWF Mafia game at all.

If I had to guess I'd say 3/1/8 (Scum/Indie/Town) although it's hard to say for sure. Depending on the roles Medi might opted to change it for balance's sake.

Though I really like how people are skipping the RVS by starting small discussion with those questions.

B.) Barely getting out of the RVS

Now admittedly BunBun and Iggy have yet to post at all if I'm correct, but even that's a stretch to call. And you make a comment to me, when I have posted a couple times merely because I'm not taking a big part in the RVS? What, do you want me to post a bunch of fluff during RVS just to make it seem like I'm more active? There's not too much to say during the RVS so I don't say much. It's not inactivity, it's just not posting a bunch of fluff and jokes so I can point to my posts in thread later.

And Marshy, it really depends on what comes on. Some Day 1's I don't feel comfortable without a whole lot of posts, others can be very productive with less. If we get a quicklynch on the next page, that's fine with me. If we can't find a good bit of heavy evidence, I would like at least 4-5 pages, if not more to get a lot to look back on. Really all depends on what happens how much is needed to be productive.

What are you even saying? Marshy said that he recalls me saying I played Mafia before, which is the case. Back when I mentioned it (I think it was FFVII D1) I thought the experience was enough. Now I know better. I don't feel the "need" to say it now that I know better but I said it because Marshy asked.

The RULES state pre-game that there should be no spoilers. You signed up going under that notion so if you want to talk about spoilers YOU shouldn't have signed up.

I guess a brief synopsis isn't bad:

Kenzou Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon in Germany, had it all: incredible skill at his work, a rich and beautiful fiancee, and a promising career at his hospital. However, after becoming disenchanted by hospital politics, he chose to save the life of a young boy who got shot in the head over the life of the mayor. As a result he lost the support of the hospital director, as well as his position in the hospital and his fiance. A short time later, the hospital director and the doctors that replaced him were murdered, and once again he was catapulted back onto the top. But as the chief suspect of the murders, Tenma did not get a easy life. As a matter of fact, it seems that the boy he saved was much more than he had appeared to be... Now to clear his name and to correct his past mistake, Tenma must get to the bottom of these and other murders, and investigate the truth of the Monster who is behind all of this.

That's all you really need to know. Talking about the story any further brings us closer to discussing spoilers and flavorhunting is a horrible way to start the game in my opinion.

The only reason why these rules are in the game ONLY because several of the people that signed up asked to not be spoiled (which is stupid cause depending on their role, they may be spoiled anyway >>). Medi, the mod of his own game, has accepted their request. I will go in the game whether I'll be spoiled or not. If I don't want to be spoiled, then I'd simply back off. Simple as that.

I don't really see what the problem is about no spoilers. Some people (myself included) have been told what an awesome anime show this is and plan to watch it eventually. But I also just want to take part in a mafia game.
