Monday Night Combat is an Xbox Live Arcade game released on 08/11/10. It's a team/class based third-person shooter with a dab of tower defense/arena style combat.
How do you play?
There's a few things to consider when playing. First and foremost, your base has a 'Moneyball', a ball... full of money... surrounded by a shield to prevent the enemy team from destroying it. Your base (and the opposite team) automatically spawns robots that travel along a path to the opposing teams money ball to take down their shields. Along the way, these robots will fight each other, and opposing team members (referred to as Pros within the game). But what do these team members look like?
There are six classes available to you at the start of the game:
Assault-The Assault is the closest thing Monday Night Combat has to a “big play man”. He is the center of attention always, and the unofficial leader of the pack. He is most often seen driving the attack while dazzling the crowd with his acrobatic plays and daring-do.
Weapons: Assault Rifle and Grenade Launcher
Skills: Bomb, Fly, Charge
Assassin-Deadly, quiet, invisible. The Assassin has become one of the most popular combatants on MNC due to her acrobatic kills and cool cloaking ability. While unable (or unwilling) to speak (MNC scientists don’t know for sure) the Assassin carries out her duties with dignity and grace, killing quickly and seldom “showboating” like some of her teammates. Though a menacing and mysterious figure she appears at times protective of her teammates, but never at the expense of a win. Though she seems to have a thorough sense of justice make no mistake, she is not a woman to be crossed, even by a teammate. Most of her fellow athletes keep their distance when off the field, save for the occasional awkward approach by the Heavy Weapons Specialist or Tank.
Weapons: Dagger (Sword when upgraded) and Shuriken (launcher)
Skills: Dash, Cloak, Smoke Bomb
Gunner-The Gunner is slow and thoughtful, and very rarely gives into any sort of panic or excitement. He is protective of his teammates; often the only way to get any sort of rise out of him is for an opponent to score an especially vicious kill.
Weapons: Miniguns and Mortar
Skills: Slamma, Deadly Force, Deploy
Sniper- All who take the field of Monday Night Combat fear the Sniper. Even other Snipers fear them. Some even fear themselves. Snipers in MNC have been designed to be the world’s foremost long distance killing machines, taking their DNA from some of the greatest snipers in video game history.
Weapons: Sniper Rifle and SMG
Skills: Flak, Traps, Sniper Grapple
Support-No team can win consistently without a Support position, whose primary responsibility is to use his extensive knowledge of cyberbiology and medicine to keep his team sharp, alert and on the battlefield for longer periods of time than their opponents.
Weapons: Heal/Hurtgun and Shotgun
Skills: Hack, Firebase, Air Strike
Tank- The Tank is a modern day grunt, a blue-collar warrior who is fearless in battle and who relishes his role as the point of attack. On the field of combat he is gruff, crude and doesn’t care who knows it. Off the field however he is as vulnerable and sensitive as they come. He has a great deal of insecurity regarding his size, looks and lack of social graces especially with the opposite sex.
Weapons: Jet Engine Gun and Laser Railgun
Skills: Product Grenade, Tank Deploy, Jet Charge
Each class has their own Pros and Cons, but also has 3 skill powers linked to the X, Y, and B face buttons of the XB360 controller.
As you fight within MNC, you'll earn money you can spend in-match to upgrade your skills, and earn money after the game to purchase titles (Protags) and Custom Class slots.
Custom Classes use the 6 default classes as a base to build around. While you don't change anything physically (or mentally) about the class, you can edit their skill bonuses, or 'endorsements'. These endorsements are broken up into three tiers, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The effect of each sponsor, respectively, gives you a large bonus, a decent bonus, or a little bonus.
Example, my Support class has a Gold endorsement for Skill Recovery, followed by a Silver endorsement for Speed, and finally a Bronze endorsement for Health recovery.
I'll post more as it is deemed necessary. Here's the wikia:
