MK, Banned? QUE?

Some people are looking at banning mk again.

Ever since the previous poll and debate ended the meta game of many of the characters has either increased, or decreased. Even a new tier list had come out at the beginning of '09, and it gave metaknight a tier of his own. Finishing up '08 the idea sprung up again by a few Ct. Falcon mains (and me) and we decided to make a social group. Getting the word out, we want your opinions.

Just out of curiosity, i made this thread on the MK boards, considering i have seen many threads labeled as "how do i beat mk?" and "How to beat MK." It seems to me that a lot of pro and anti ban people come to the MK forums. Being a character forum with a diversity makes it interesting to re open the subject.

So now i ask you, if you don't mind....

I don't think it's worth discussing at this point. It seems to be slowly dying out and some matchups are looking to be closer than previously thought.

Learning curve is irrelevant, what matters is top level play. I believe Snake for sure goes at least even against MK at top level play, and there have been like three tournies recently where Candy, Inui and G-Reg won beating top MKs like Forte/Spam/Plank using Snake. I think other characters like DK, ZSS, Diddy etc. slightly lose to him but have close matchups (like 45/55) vs him.

Doom Dragon saying you're torn on banning something you believe is 'very broken' is the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever seen you say. Ever. If something is broken it is too good, and must be banned. Yet many characters have more trouble with other chars over MK.

Mk is so broken that he has three definite even/disadvantaged match ups and ***** less people than DDD. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I think it;'s a good idea to limit discussion of this topic to discussion groups so that we can actually talk about strategy here, but I don't see what maining Falcon has to do with it.

And for those playing my drinking game: MK shouldn't be banned, there should be a soft ban, it's easy to win with MK, Italy has banned MK, MK is currently at 20% dominance, M2K, Azen, Affinity, Lee, Dojo, Infinity, Hylian, we never had this kind of problem in Melee, ****.

MK shouldn't be banned for his properties as a character.

He should be banned because there's no ****ing excuse for him making up 14 out of a 32 man pro bracket. Mother ****ers need to learn some snake or some ****.

No, Metaknight should definitely not be banned. I'll use Street Fighter for an example. Akuma is banned, because he is ridiculously broken, right? Akuma was banned fairly quickly, except he had ridiculous tournament results. As in every single top 5 in every tournament was Akuma. Metaknights, although good, don't approach this level.

Uh, yeah, Mk has a smaller dominance than he had before, and less than Marth's dominance.

idk if it is fare to ban him or not but seriously, ppl need to stop picking him up before he is the only fricken character period. if this trend continues (people not being able to beat mk so they pick up mk just to stand a chance against other mk's), then he should definitely should be banned..... but only if he starts consuming like 40-50% of the pro smash scene. maybe even 35%. but that's just my opinion.
