Our new base game fighters will be:

64. Inkling
65. Shovel Knight
66. Ridley
67. King K. Rool
68. Isabelle
69. Waluigi
70. Mimikyu
71. Bandana Waddle Dee
72. Isaac
73. Spring Man
74. Rex / Pyra
75. Banjo & Kazooie

(These were suggested by Northsouthmap Northsouthmap but I switched the reveal order around to make it feel more...relatively natural.)

Job #2: 8 new Echo Fighters
This will result in 10 Echo Fighters total (counting Lucina and Dark Pit from the previous game), resulting in 85 base game fighters and opening us up to3 seasons of DLC, with 5 fighters each season.

Anyway, Echo Fighters. For this thread, the only rule is that we can only have one Echo Fighter per series (in other words, since Lucina and Dark Pit count as Echo Fighters, we then can't submit another Fire Emblem or Kid Icarus Echo Fighter). For me:
  1. Dark Samus (Samus)
  2. Black Shadow (Captain Falcon)
  3. Daisy (Peach)
  4. Dixie Kong (Diddy Kong)
  5. Shadow (Sonic)
  6. Alph (Olimar)
  7. Glass Joe (Little Mac)
  8. Ken (Ryu)

  1. Daisy (Peach, Super Mario.) A few slight, but not major, differences - mostly in terms of variables. She has a faster run speed and slightly increased knockback on her attacks, but a lower jump height and a faster fall-speed. She also has a couple of unique animations to further differentiate herself from Peach, though a lot of her attacks are still pretty similar.

  2. Octoling (Inkling, Splatoon.) Various weapons used in Inkling's kit are replaced with Splatoon 2 weapons, as well as a couple of moves having slightly different properties as a result. Not only this, they have slightly larger tanks of ink, though they take slightly longer to fully charge up, and the ink's effects on an opponent's defence is slightly reduced to offset this. However, they share the same basic properties as the Inkling.

  3. Dark Samus (Samus, Metroid.) Dark Samus, again, has a lot more changes from Samus than in the original game. First of all, the unique visual effects such as replacing fire/energy with blue Phazon energy are maintained, as are the unique animations. However, Dark Samus is floatier and faster than Samus, but deals more damage overall. It also has a few more changes - first, Down Smash is replaced with Phazon tentacles sprouting from the ground around it, similar to in its Assist Trophy role in Sm4sh, and its grab is altered to be more traditional, removing the Grapple Beam. Neutral Special functions similarly to Charge Shot, but has three smaller balls of energy akin to the Wave Beam. Lastly, Side Special is changed to Phazon Echo, which functions a lot like Zelda's Down Special.

  4. Louie (Olimar, Pikmin.) Whilst Olimar retains his unique Pikmin, all of Louie's Pikmin are replaced with Bulbmin - which have average stats in general, and no elemental weaknesses or properties. Louie himself is slightly heavier and slower than Olimar, but deals more damage with Bulbmin attacks - and has a unique attack of his own. His Side Special replaces Pikmin Throw with Bulbmin Swarm, which has all of the Bulbmin charge forward and try and attack an opponent, and his Up Special replaces Winged Pikmin with Swooping Snitchbug, which functions similarly but is faster and less controllable in reference to his nature as the King of Bugs. Alph remains as a "deluxe" costume for Olimar, and Louie gets a "deluxe" costume of The President, Hocotate's owner.

  5. Ninten (Ness, MOTHER.) Ninten's design would take minor elements from both Ness and Lucas, but we're counting him as Ness's Echo Fighter. First things first, his scarf should billow in the wind - making his silhouette unique from Ness's! Ninten's PSI effects are pink squares, based loosely on Magicant - and he also has a couple of unique moves of his own, alongside unique attack effects. For starters, his yo-yo attacks are replaced with PSI - mostly because the first game didn't actually have yo-yos as a weapon. He also has several unique specials - his Neutral Special is PK Freeze, but works like a fusion of PK Flash and Lucas's PK Freeze in that it's more controllable. PK Fire is also replaced with PK Beam, which works akin to Starman's PK Beam attacks by stunning opponents. Lastly, PSI Magnet is replaced with PK Shield, which acts as a reflector as opposed to an absorber.

  6. Blaze (Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog.) Whilst she's slower and a little heavier than Sonic overall, her damage output is somewhat increased - and several of her attacks feature properties of fire. She also has some unique animations for things like idles, taunts, and even a couple of attacks - though the hitboxes for the most part remain in the same place. That said, she has a unique Side Special in the form of Boost - which has her burst forward at high speed whilst enveloped in fire, before automatically entering a sprint animation. When used in the air, it works as a horizontal recovery tool.

  7. Bass (Mega Man, Mega Man.) Bass is significantly faster than Mega Man, but lacks a little in attack power for individual attacks and doesn't have much in the way of a kill move. That said, a lot of his attacks also have unique effects - for instance, his jab, forward tilt and neutral air have a faster rate of fire at the cost of reduced damage, his dash attack appears more like his original dash, and his up tilt has him perform a powerful kick instead of the Mega Upper. Most prominently, most of his Robot Master attacks are changed slightly to match later Robot Masters, though some (like his Back Air) remain the same. This includes his Up Special, which replaces Rush Coil with Treble Boost - allowing for momentary flight with limited control.

  8. Ken (Ryu, Street Fighter.) Similar changes to in the original game, including his unique properties and command input attacks. He also has a unique intro animation with Ryu if in a 1v1 match, in reference to the Street Fighter series. Not many unique changes here - I think Smash did him well.

Alright, so for DLC, this is how each season is going to be presented:
  • Fighters Pass Vol. 1
    • Challenger Pack 1
    • Challenger Pack 2
    • Challenger Pack 3
    • Challenger Pack 4
    • Challenger Pack 5
  • Fighters Pass Vol. 2
    • Challenger Pack 6
    • Challenger Pack 7
    • Challenger Pack 8
    • Challenger Pack 9
    • Challenger Pack 10
  • Fighters Pass Vol. 3
    • Challenger Pack 11
    • Challenger Pack 12
    • Challenger Pack 13
    • Challenger Pack 14
    • Challenger Pack 15
3 seasons of DLC with five DLC Challenger Packs each. But we’re not going to submit a fighter straight away for each pack; we’re going to submit criteria first and then a fighter.

Job #3: Submit a criteria for Challenger Pack 1
My criteria is: a SEGA-owned character that isn’t from Sonic (that extends to ATLUS)

Job #4: Submit a character from SEGA / ATLUS that isn’t from Sonic

I’m going to submit Sakura Shinguji from Sakura Wars.
Job #23: Sakura Shinguji (Sakura Wars); character from a SEGA-owned RPG franchise
View attachment 373328
Sakura Wars is a 1996 tactical RPG released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn, dubbed as a "dramatic adventure" that mimics anime, with the main story taking place across 10 episodes. Sakura is one of the members of the Imperial Combat Revue's Flower Division, a group that fights demons in steam-powered mechs, with their base also fronting as a theater. The franchise since then has had a somewhat understated but nontheless long-lasting legacy all the way into 2020, with many sequels coming out and many crossover and spin-off appearances in the years since the first game.

What separates Sakura Wars from most tactical RPG's (at the time, anyway) was how it incorporated dating-sim and visual novel elements.
In the visual novel part of the gameplay, Ogami, the character the player primarily controls, navigates the theater in between battles, during which the player is at the mercy of the Live & Interactive Picture System (LIPS). When Ogami is faced with critical choices during conversations with both members of the Flower Division and supporting characters, dialogue trees are displayed with a time limit for the player to input. Depending on the type of response, the character Ogami is conversing with may respond positively or negatively, impacting their relationship with Ogami and future interactions. Other actions within LIPS include holding the cursor over parts of a character's portrait to trigger internal monologues and varying responses from the characters. Each main heroine has different personality quirks that must be taken into consideration while talking with them, with correct responses raising their "Trust".

During the actual battles, the Flower Division fights demons using machines called Kobu. Each unit has their own turn, with each turn allowing two actions. These actions include "Attack", "Defend", "Move", "Deathblow" (a critical strike that can one-shot any normal enemy), Charge (store energy for later), and Heal (which restores the unit's HP). Different units specialize in different skills such as support actions, melee attacks, or ranged attacks. Units have varying movement abilities based on available space and unit statistics, as well as a separate attack range based on their weapon type. Actions taken during LIPS sequences with members of the Flower Division directly impact battles; raised trust during LIPS segments grant statistic increases and subsequently improve combat ability. You lose when you either fail to meet certain conditions for victory or when the HP on Ogami's Kobu reaches zero (but you can continue afterwards and there's no permadeath).

If we were to translate the LIPS system into Smash, one way to go about would be this. The stage would be the Grand Imperial Theater, which would feature various projections of the different Combat Revues and their bases. as for the music? Around this time, the 2019 Sakura Wars soft reboot would have already been released in Japan and around the same time as this Challenger Pack overseas, so the music would be as follows:
Spirits would also be taken from Sakura Wars history, focusing primarily on the Flower Division but with chracters from other games.

Hope you enjoyed my pitch!

In a similar role to Sakura due to Japanese roots, has Nintendo history, represents puzzle games and female characters, popular and relevant.
