Was I the only one who looked at today's photo thinking, "A stage hazard on Battlefield? I'm done!" Of course, I looked at the website since I'm away from my Wii U.

Isn't it saturday in Japan? So if he doesn't post on weekends I am pretty sure Monday will be the next time he posts.

Again, have to say I want a Pokemon fighting game. That would be SOOO awesome.
A pokemon game styled like that is what I've been wanting for a long time. Smash is literally the closest thing we can get to it though. Just use all Pokemon and boom, there you go. Just pretend you pressing the buttons is like you being the Pokemon trainer and calling the shots just as you say them.

people think it's a fighting game for some reason, but in all likelyhood it's simply another 3D battle stadium like Pokemon Battle Revolution on the wii was. Although I have to admit the location blaziken and lucario are at is reminiscent of many street fighter/DOA arenas.

Yeah, it's not a fighting game. That'd be too good, so GF/Nintendo isn't going to do it.

Seriously though, it's not a fighting game, the stances are very similar to previous Stadium-type games, it's almost definitely that. I suspect the reason they showed Lucario and Blaziken is because both of those characters are being used as promotion currently. And they're just popular Pokemon in general.

However it's possible this game might be like Collosseum or XD, with an actual plot and overworld elements, the fight seems to be on some random street instead of a Stadium, so there's still hope for that... but a fighting game seems a little too ideal.

Though there are better places to discuss this picture, it really has nothing to do with the Smash pics.

Look at the green in the front and behind the X. It's going through the stage.
Thank you, that argument was annoying.
LOL I honestly dgaf about this trivial nonsense. Whether it goes through or behind the stage is irrelevant.

The Pokémon trailer isn't Smash related at all. Hopefully Sakurai bursts out of the audience and says something awesome during another interview.

There's a Pokémon show on August 17 and 18 in Japan (which Sakurai is attending by the way), and yesterday they showed a video about pokémon's history and at the end they showed this image.
Watch until the end.

Please don't be another bull#$%$ title that requires a handheld copy of the game to play!
I'm with the minority of people who don't own any nintendo handhelds. So many great pokemon games slippin through my fingers.
I wish they'd make some sorta gameboy player attachment for the wii u like they did with the gamecube. That thing saved me from missing out on games like A Link to The Past, Link's Awakening, all the other Snes remakes and Pokemon Crystal.

Doubt they will be cause of Money, Some games already have two versions so it would kinda be hard work for nothing, and most of all the 3D visuals. 3D is something you usually don't play with on, but It makes the graphics look so much smoother and nice.

Although I'm not cool with cutting people down unless they truly deserve it, but yeah, that was an awful joke.

I really wish we had something to look forward to on the weekends. I've gotten into the pattern of waiting for the updates, as I did for brawl, but I long for a new smash fix on the weekends

Though it's off-topic, I still am holding on to the fighting game theory for that clip.
Lucario's in a fighting position, something it doesn't do in Battle Revolution.

Also, there is a poster in the background which appears to be a fist symbol in a circle with a laurel wraith around it and a crown above it.

That REALLY gives off a fighting tournament vibe.....

Aye, you lost me on the bandana. Sorry, but I'm afraid this isn't funny.

But isn't lucario part fighting pokemon? So wouldn't the pose make sense?

Again, it's something that hasn't been done in Battle Revolution (Lucario doesn't stand in a fighting position, he just stands). Meaning, that unless animations have been changed, this is not a Stadium/Colosseum/Battle Revolution type deal.

May I present to you the symbol for the fighting type Pokemon in the TGC. You Pokenoobs better be glad I collected these bad boys like a boss when I was younger. Damn I am old.

Now I am no confirming or deconfirming anything, just figured you should know where the symbol itself comes from.

EDIT: Double Post. To make up for this error, here is a cute bunny clapping.

Yeah I bet a lot of us collected and still have out cards from back in the day. How is this relevant? Also that was a very cute bunny clapping.

It's relevant in the sense of the poster I mentioned in the background of the clip.

I already knew it was the symbol for the Fighting Type. That's part of WHY the clip gives me a fighting tournament vibe.

But anyways, we should probably stop talking about that here; this thread is for the daily images, and we won't get the next one until early Monday morning.

What if Sakurai is showing Wii U pictures mainly because most people on Miiverse are more interested in the Wii U version? Of course, this could also be due to the fact that the 3DS is more behind in development, but whatever. I wish there was something like Miiverse for the 3DS where Sakurai only shows 3DS content. I wouldn't have to keep seeing Wii U pictures and could actually see what is on the game I want to play.

That and the fact Sakurai mentioned that the screenshots for the 3DS version don't do it justice. He feels that you need to actually see that version run in motion by the 3DS system itself in order to appreciate it.... Or something along those lines. :dizzy: I guess that's why he doesn't show as much from the 3DS version. :/

Oh wow, really? That's quite odd. Personally I love seeing 3DS screenshots. I've been waiting far too long for handheld Smash.

Yup. Here's the quote.
Masahiro Sakurai said:
“And the same thing with the Wii U screen – since we’re an HD-compatible console, we’re able to do more details, and bigger stages as seen on previous home consoles. Now of course, I want to point out that everything on 3DS is designed for that screen, and that’s where they look the best. It’s unfortunate we can’t show everyone what it looks like on 3DS, rather than screenshots, while they do look fine, do not do that justice once you see it on the system. Too bad we can’t show everybody what it looks like on the system.”

I would have liked to see some more 3DS screenshots as well since that's the version I will be able to afford for now since I can't afford a Wii U yet but oh well... :/

I can't wait to experience the game on the 3DS. Considering how Kirby, Meteos, and KI:U were all handheld games, I was surprised that he wasn't showing more 3DS content than Wii U. Kirby also had console games, but I was referring to the fact that it started as a handheld.

Probably also has to do with the fact that the majority are looking forward to the Wii U version. Smash Bros started out as a console game, and has always been a console, so obviously people are gonna be the most interested in that, so it's only logical of Sakurai to show pictures from the Wii U the majority of the time. Past games that Sakurai has made should have no impact in how he decides to promote and share content with us.

I do think it's also partly because Sakurai shows these pictures first on Miiverse and most people who use Miiverse are Wii U owners so it makes sense to show more Wii U pictures. It would be great if the Miiverse for the 3DS would come along soon then Sakurai would probably show some more 3DS images as well. Hopefully... :/

Well to be honest the 3DS has smoother graphics with the 3D turned on (if it doesn't bother you.) Also the majority of WiiU attention with Miiverse also plays into it I am sure. I doubt is has anything to do with Smash being a console game usually since originally it was planned to be 3DS only to help reinvent the series.
