The only pokemon games Ive played are Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 and Pokemon Crystal.
It makes sense to only include characters and moves that are popular and well known.
I mean, look at megaman. Most of his moveset is from megaman 2, which is his most popular game.
Still, I cant help but feel the desire for a pokemon from each gen. Unfortunately, the only iconic pokemon from gen 2 was pichu, so at least gen 2 had a time to shine in melee.
I thought blaziken was gen 2 but it turns out hes from gen 3, so it would be cool to have him as a 3rd gen rep and have lucario representin 4th gen, even if that would leave a gap in the 2nd gen. (Lucario Blaziken and Mewtwo are arguably the most popular pokemon in X and Y, so I'm predictin (Pika, Jiggs, Zard, Mewtwo, 2nd gen?, Blaziken, Lucario)
With all this being said, I really hope that they bring back the pokemon trainer, because I played the sh$# out of ivysaur, but also because Charizard is the best pokemon ever. I suppose I could live with Charizard going solo but it would seem like such a waste to abandon a moveset as unique as Ivysaur's.
I wonder if Lucario's reveal will coincide with some big pokemon news coming up. Fingers crossed for Pokemon Wii U.

Eeveelutions could cover gen 2, 4, and 6 but we would still be missing 3 and 5. It helps that sylveon was the marketing ploy for X and Y with mewtwo.

This moaning about Mewtwo not getting in because of Lucario I'm seeing on the Internet is physically hurting me. He shares only one type of move with Mewtwo, and they both play radically different. Mewtwo is my most wanted character in the next game, and I don't expect him to be getting cut because of Lucario.

I actually never used ike that much, and it feels like another emblem character would be a better choice.

The thing is, if they get rid of Ike, we're getting Chrom, who will probably have the same moveset. Chrom's alright, but I'd much rather keep Marth and Ike, then get Robin on top of them to have an Emblemer who isn't just "LOOK AT MAH SWORD". I mean, he/she still has a sword, but also magic.
That said, I don't particularly like Ike, but I really don't want to hear the ******** and moaning if he's cut. If Lucario's anything to go by, being outdated means nothing.
The real question is, how long is Sakurai going to make us Ridley fans wait to have the thrill that all of those Lucario fans are getting? >:U

How bout Tiki? She's as recurrent as Marth, has appeared in Awakening as playable, and is a manakete (so she can transform into a dragon) with the ability to become a mage. She'd bring us magic and manakete representation in one character.

Well, considering the DKC:TF Japanese release date is in two weeks, if the pattern of game = character continues, I think Diddy is a safe assumption.
I feel like since the game is launching this year, two characters a month may become a thing.
