I still have yet to play a Mega Man game with any success. I should probably get on that myself. Or something.

Try Mega Man 2, I find it to be easier. Start with Metal Man or Flash Man, and then save Quick Man for last.

Me neither, I was able to pick up Mega Man X during that eShop sale for $2 though .

Of course you could always sail the internet seas though lol

I played Mega Man 1 once, couldn't get through a single level without a game over. So I mean. I am just bad at Mega Man and never got any success out of it. :p

I'm playing my way through the Mega Man's now. Mega Man 2 has been my favourite, Mega Man 1 was ridiculously hard and now Mega Man 3 is proving to be difficult too. It's a pretty good challenge though, I'm loving and hating it at the same time - it's hard enough to get to the boss, but the bosses themselves are so fricken annoying. Argh.

Speaking of NES games, anyone else going to try out that new NES Remix for Wii U? It actually looks pretty fun and from what I heard has over 200 missions. I know, I know, this is off-topic, but it IS the weekend after all.

Hey guys, off topic and a pretty shameless plug, but seeing as Link's blue scarf is taking over the internet, my girlfriend is thinking about knitting and selling them. Now I don't want to make any promises, and it might not happen for a while if at all, but I just want to gauge interest: who here would be interested in buying one? Send me a PM if you'd be interested; I don't want to take over the thread. Keep in mind she's only one person, so it might take a while for them to start being made, much less finished.

*instantly finds PM from NitrusVirus* :awesome:

Mega Man 1 is, ironically, probably the worst game to start with. It's pretty bare-bones and the level design tends to be rather unforgiving and inconsiderate for the most part. I think it's the hardest of the NES games.

I think Mega Man 4 is probably the most balanced game to start out with in the series.

That awkward moment when you stay up for the pic of the day

... and then realize it's Friday.

You know what? It took until I read this post to realize it's actually Saturday right now, and not Friday.

I'm going to bed...

I'd suggest playing Mega Man 3, though from what I played, the game is fairly longer than any other Mega Man classic games.

Mega Man 2 is easily my favorite from the 6 NES ones. I started with 1, which took forever to finish (I literaly died 15 times on the first segment of the first level). I'd say 1 and 3 are the hardest of them all, and I mean rage-quit inducing hard. 2 and 4/5 were the most fun though.

I've only ever beaten a level in Mega Man 2 (being Metal Man, Wood Man and Flash Man's stages). I have problems with the others, mainly 1. I continually mess up with the platforms in Guts Man's stage (their changes tend to take a while, even though the animation's finished), those smiling bombers in Cut Man's stage (they swarm on me...), Ice Ma's got the water segments, Fire Man's garbage disposal, everything in Bomb Man wants to kill me and I can't do the vertical Elec Man stage.

I hope we get some information on Rock and Winged Pikmin. I hope they're involved in some way.

I'm looking forward to the next character reveal because I want to get my mind off Rosalina because the more I think about her inclusion the more jarring it is. Aside from Pichu and Jigglypuff, she's probably the least significant character to ever be playable in Smash which is just going to be that much more annoying if someone noteworthy doesn't make the cut or, even worse, if someone is cut. If this had been 6 years ago, I'd be outright pissed but the saving grace to this situation is she at least looks interesting to play as and I'm not going to be barking about how she should be cut. Eh... with this all in mind, maybe it was better for him to reveal her now than later.

Except for, y'know, Ice Climbers. Also, this is hilarious coming from someone who supports a side character from one game from over fifteen years ago.

Ice Climbers star in their own game and, if you look again, the Geno in my sig is from the Brawl days. I don't really have that much of a strong support for anyone nowadays.

Or Ice Climbers, ROB, G&W, WFT, or Pit. But yknow who's counting?
All stars of their own games... Rosalina was an NPC in two canon games and wasn't playable in a canon game for the first time until a month ago, meaning it probably wasn't likely that this had much weight on her inclusion in Smash. There's a huge difference.

Except there's no chance that didn't matter. Rosalina's inclusion in Smash is representative of that fact that she's here to stay in the Mario series, and for the love of god, she's not taking anyone else's spot. Characters don't take other characters' spots; if Sakurai wanted other characters, we'd be getting them. It's not like she was suddenly added a month ago; if she's in, she was planned to be in from the start.

So, to you, relevant actually means "playable/starring in their own game". Gotchya.

Well to be honest the Mario series doesn't really need newcomers, but Rosalina is alright in my opinion. Some of you say Toad, Bowser Jr. and Waluigi.
Bowser Jr. is starting to have less notable appear appearances (didn't even remember he was in NSMBU). Waluigi is a spin off king, not even appearing in a main series Mario (even though thinking about playing as him sounds a little nice). And Toad, while he may be playable in Main series and he is getting popular Sakurai doesn't seem to view him as a worthy character (he's a meat shield for peach). Rosalina isn't that deserving I'll be honest, but if you were to add another Mario series character she would probably be on the list for consideration.

It's not a matter of taking spots, it's a matter of lowering standards. I don't care how many people she's the waifu of, I'd prefer if this game wasn't stuffed with Miiverse Picks in an attempt to please the masses.

It certainly carries a lot more weight than being an NPC most of your existence. She's not even that involved in the story of the two Mario Galaxy games and is kind of just there, providing the hub for the first and being a cameo in the second. When you look at almost all the characters in Smash, what are the common traits amongst them? They're usually playable in at least one game that isn't a spinoff or they play a significant role in the games/franchise they are in. Rosalina barely meets these with a finger flick and it's kind of annoying. The grand irony of all of this is that aside from her playable appearance in 3D World, there isn't that much setting her apart from Daisy, a character that virtually no one has ever taken seriously but, all of a sudden, people are nodding their heads in unison as if this was the most "obvious" choice.

Ganondorf- main villain of Zelda
Zelda- has her name in the freakin' franchise title
Falco- one of the main characters in Star Fox and playable in some of the gams
Wolf- Fox's rival, playable in Command
King Dedede- Kirby's rival and present in all but one Kirby game, playable in several games
Lucario- rep for the fourth gen in Brawl, notable Pokemon in a number of Pokemon games including the current generation
Mewtwo- the ultimate Pokemon in the first generation and still one of the strongest in the franchise
Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard- the starters of the first generation and still significant in the present generation

I already mentioned Jigglypuff's lack of significance so everyone else is pretty much a strawman.

 She's incredibly popular, whether you like it or not. That's a pretty big factor in choosing who to put in Smash. Frankly, moveset potential and sometimes even importance come second; the game is about pleasing Nintendo fans. People on Smashboards are not the majority. Casual gamers are the vast majority of the game's audience, so yeah, popular characters are gonna be considered, whether any of the debaters in this relatively tiny forum like them or not.

Frankly, Sheik was in one game. Ever. And it was fifteen years ago. She wasn't playable and in the grand scheme of things, she's incredibly unimportant to the Zelda franchise. She has never even been referenced in another Zelda game. Honestly, Tetra is more important to the series than Sheik, and yet no one seems to give a damn that she's been playable for two Smashes thus far and has virtually no chance of being cut for the next one. The "grand irony" of all this is that Rosalina is significantly more important than Sheik is, but no one whines about her being in.

Imo shes one of the most interesting and admirable Mario characters to date solely due to her role and sweet backstory. Rarely have we seen a Mario character as fleshed out as she is outside of an RPG title. Even if it isnt tons, its more character and backstory we've ever gotten than ****ing Toad and even Mario himself. Its all a matter of perspective I suppose. And to me, I wouldnt hold anything against her while characters like ROB, G&W, and WFT "grace" the roster.
