You know, when she was announced to be in 3D World, I was wondering the same thing. Miyamoto said that the Galaxy series might come back, and I was thinking... Super Mario Galaxy 3, with Rosalina as the only playable character. That way, the series doesn't die and Mario can move on to new things.
That would be really cool indeed

I wonder if anyone else has been thinking if Rosalina will be the next Meta Knight. With the Luma by her side, it would have to be very difficult for anyone to chain-grab her, and unlike Olimar and his Pikmin, she doesn't necessarily have to rely on the Luma to clobber the competition.

Honestly when it comes to shadow/puppet characters like Rosalina/Eddie/Carl, they some of the hardest types of characters to balance. It's very easy to make them under/over whelming with even the simplest of tools. I won't judge based on the grand 30 seconds of eye candy we have, but at the very least I would say she has some strong zoning and edge game, a complete counter to grapplers, but a very gimp able recovery. Despite it's good distance, Launch seems slow enough that you could reasonably gimp any recovery attempts, and this is assuming it has a hit box. No hit box, and this thing is gimp heaven. Just gotta wait and see how it develops, and not assume too much.

I think she wants to have the Luma out at all times to avoid getting clobbered herself.

The main counter to Rosalina will probably be keeping her in the air. We've seen that the Luma can get her out of tough situations on ground, but I doubt it can catch up to Meta Knight juggling Rosalina. She also seems to have quite some start-up on her aerials to get out of such situations. She's also really tall, so it's not like she can dodge projectiles as easy as Meta Knight, and she won't be as mobile.

Unlike Meta Knight she also looks like she'll be hard to play. Meta Knight was, at least to me, easy to pick up and own with right from the start. As you say, she'll be hard to chain grab as long as the Luma is out, if chain grabbing even returns. So yeah, she will pack power, but probably not Meta Power, something I doubt even Meta Knight will possess this time around. However, she's certainly the kind of gimmick character that, if you master, can kick maximum ass.

Seriously is any one going to put up the picture of the day?

And the quote was something like you can control both luma and rosalina at the same time.

I was thinking more along the lines of snake. she seems to be around his size, and she can set traps and possibly gimp Recoveries with the luma (like she did with the villager). Only time will tell, i guess.

I still haven't found "my" starter yet. I love all the new additions, but none of them were in my wishlist so far.
I cross my fingers for Mach Rider.
I know what you mean. I've changed my main with every installment, and was planning to for Sm4sh. And before any E3, I was planning on picking up Toon Link (if he were available). But when I saw Mega Man, I decided on him as my new main. But now I will try Rosalina first.

I can't even tell what character I will be most interested in yet. So far it's still Villager, but I want to play as everyone.

Also I'm selfish and a self-destructive masochist with a "wishlist" of characters I hope to see in the game but may or may not come even close to succeeding or not succeeding. But some of them probably will. Which is pretty awesome.

Wow... people on Miiverse are already asking for new characters... my god...

*starts to sing* It's beginning to look a lot like butthurt! Everywhere they post!

Just wait until the game actually comes out and then it will be 3-4 months straight of people whining about virtually impossible characters who didn't make the cut.

Captain Syrup had quite a noteworthy role in Shake Dimensions. I wouldn't classify Palutena and Little Mac as retros either.

You can't really base Rosalina as 'top tier' just on the footage we've received. The footage is SUPPOSE to make her look easy to use and to be really OP. So I wouldn't worry. But she definitely would be an interesting character to learn, similar to Oli and the Ice Climberz.

Olimar seemed to be pretty lackluster in Brawl, but that did change as more players started to main him. As of now, he's ranked 3rd place in the competitive world.

Who's to say that something similar could apply to Rosalina as well.

That is true, but we haven't really seen in in action. But i get what you're saying, usually characters that stray from the original way of play have that advantage. Snake is also pretty high, as is Diddy. And they all use various tricks found by the players.

Also, I'm gonna do my friend a solid, look at this Year of Luigi and Breaking Bad parody. I know people here would appriciate it, and sorry if this looks like spam lol

Yeah... no. Mario Bros. is retro. The Mario character is not.

why not? because he's in new games? He's still a retro character.

If I whip out some platform shoes and wear them today, that doesn't make them not retro. If I pull out a record player and plays some records, that doesn't make them not retro. If a radio player plays some John Coltrane, that doesn't make it not retro.

See it this way: if you listen to Speak & Spell from Depeche Mode, that's retro. If you listen to Delta Machine still from Depeche Mode, that's not retro.
Hence, Depeche Mode are not retro. Their early art is.
Get it?
Mario is not retro.

Don't people on Miiverse ask for new characters... like everyday anyway?
Arguably, YouTube's comments are worse. I saw a thumbed up comment that complained about Wii Fit Trainer and suggested that fans wanted to see.........Goku, Naruto, and Sasuke. -_- Keep in mind that people actually agreed with him.

My starters.... depends who's playable first, Megaman, or Pokemon Trainer. In case neither is playable from the get go, I guess I'll give Samus one last farewell until I unlock either.

Of course, if Little Mac happens to be revealed later, I'm maining HIM, with Megaman being the second.
