Holy sh#@ Sakurai, character deconfirms on rapid fire. What franchises will you have left if you keep making all of the new original ips trophies? I suppose its better to get it outta the way now rather than letting people keep on building their hype up for these characters.

I don't understand why people are saying he is deconfirmed. Playable characters have trophies of themselves too. This could very well be a classic Sakurai troll.

There was a momentary discussion about it in the 'Official Gematsu/Sal Romano Leak Topic'. I didn't pay much attention to it, but one of the characters 'leaked' in the leak that 'validated' the Gematsu leak was Wonder Red. And, here we are. Best POTD in ages.

First off, I agree with Swampasuar. What are you, some deconfirmation sadist? Hahaha.


Second of all...Wonder Red was not one of the characters in the Gematsu leak. If thats what yiure saying at least. Its Shulk, Marshal (Chorus Men), Palutena, Chrom, and Pokemon from X/Y (Greninja)

It'd be cool if he were an Assist Trophy at the very least, but that doesn't seem to be the case. At least W101 has been acknowledged, so there's still hope for him in a possible SSB5.

Well, time to make my rounds to the Wonder-Red for Smash thread. Having seen the game all the way through, I understood why people really wanted him.

That was sad; I passively supported Wonder Red because I believed that he had the potential to be one of the more unique characters.

Looking at the Wonderful 101 artwork, this is the exact same image except the scarf is different and the colours are darker.

Even so, that's more effort than all of Brawl's trophies. I love that Sakurai is putting effort into this part of the game again. Melee trophies rocked. I didn't care at all about Brawl's.

The model's not exactly "playable character" level of quality. It's good but it needs some polish, mostly in the hair.

But maybe that's what he wants us to think before he is revealed to be playable at E3. Then he'd say something like "I never said he wasn't playable" /troll. Sakurai does love the surprise factor so I wouldn't put it past him. Very slim chance for Wonder Red to be in the game though, no doubt.

Honestly, for the rest of this week, I'm not sure what to expect. I'm still saying we'll get a pic related to an item from the press kit sometime this week, but we just got one last week with the raccoon tail...

Anywho, I did kinda expect Wonder Red to get in and be playable since I figured it would help to get Wonderful 101 to be noticed more and give more people a reason to play it, but I guess that ain't happenin' now~! Shame. Quite a mised opportunity.

This is true, that was literally my first thought when I saw him. To be fair, it could be a later build of the game or something. Maybe some of the more repugnant assist trophies have yet to get that HD treatment.

Well Kamiya has said that he would like to make a game with Wonder Blue as the main character but I wouldn't count on it.

Dillon's model isn't exactly complex though. There's some stuff that's just painted on, like his belt and the inside of his ear.

I'm going to be ballsy and say we'll get a character this or next week, if only because of the drought timeframe. I'm pretty sure if we don't get anything next week, it'll break the record. It's also been a month since the direct tomorrow, not that that means much.

It's interesting there were no licensing issues for the Wonderful 101 to appear in such a minor capacity, but I suppose no one really knows the terms of the publishing contract with Platinum Games for that title.

This is obviously the extent to which Wonder Red and the other Wonderful 101 appear. Sakurai has been called a troll, but he's actually pretty straightforward. Not only would he never show something like this and then later say that actually there's way more, but it would make no marketing sense to do so either. Do you really think anyone in Nintendo marketing would approve of showing off a smash bros newcomer like this as opposed to hyping it up, especially since Wonderful 101 is relevant again soonish as a part of the Mario Kart free game deal?

I agree with this sentiment; that MOTHERs day character is probably going to happen. Just a veteran reveal, it isn't going to detract from E3 or anything.
