Yea, I know, I know, I'm glad we got the direct, but I wish he explained a little bit more about how this FS works. I mean, what the hell, I'm guessing it's similar to Falcon's, in that Mega Man has to make an initial hit on opponents before it cuts to this cinematic where all those hit get shot with beams. Most likely the latter is correct don't you all think?

I honestly hope that it is something a little more interesting than just a beam. Hopefully the whole thing is a cutscene, like Falcon's FS.

Could be that the beams sweep across the stage, but Falcon-esque targeting seems more likely.

Also, I wasn't referring to just the Direct. I was referring to Smash as a whole. I won't go on about how ungrateful everyone is for wanting something actually new (that'd be like saying humans are selfish for always wanting air to breathe), but this pic reminds me of one simple fact: Mega Man is in this game. That more than makes up for a filler pic or a hundred.

Right? And for a Final Smash this was way more than I would've asked/hoped for, I was thinking at best Mega Man might receive a Rush Armor upgrade as a Final Smash and function similar to Yoshi's Final Smash. But not only do we get one Mega Man, we get ****ing five of them!

No, the Final Smash is awesome. I didn't expect anything new either. I hoped, but that was it. He could've named it for us. The actual Miiverse post seems like he could be hinting at the name "Legends Unite" or something like that. But beyond that, it was just a picture from the Direct with the only thing he did was list who was on there... something people already knew. It was still nice to do in general for those who don't, mind you.

To put it simply, the weakness of today's update is that he didn't bother to give us its name, that's all. It was otherwise fine.

Oh, well yeah, I like that way more than Brawl too haha I really like that they included a short part in the main theme that's actually part of 64's character selection theme. And yeahhh, I feel ya with the "Im cool right??" feel. I was really excited for it on the dojo, and then when I got it I was super stoked, and I played it and was happy! Though I remember thinking the new air-dodging was strange, I always had fun with Melee's but whatever! And I got used to it. Then I tripped... Now I think it's a great game and a great step forward in the Smash series, introducing lots of cool stuff like footstool jumping! But even Sakurai said Melee was better, and yeah, totally agree. 64's atmosphere better than Brawl? Hm... well... Yeah, I can agree to that! At the end of classic mode when the announcer doesn't even announce the last challenger and you fight Master Hand who is so mysterious and strange, and the music stops as soon as you defeat him... I find that experience way better than the end of Brawl Classic Mode where you fight on final destination with whoever just before, and then fight Master Hand to Brawl's... (sorry...) monotonous theme, which to me instead of saying "Huh?? Who is this?? Hope you survive!" said "Yeah, its Master Hand, beat him up again, epiccc" and the music continues after he's done which makes me feel like none of it really mattered. And I guess it didn't. Matches in 64 and Melee just feel like they matter so much more than in Brawl.
I don't really hate Brawl, its a great game, but I found the others in the series to be much better, and am delighted to see we may be getting back to a more mysterious intriguing atmosphere. Maybe... It still does kinda have that "Just have fun feel" but I haven't played it yet! Final Destination looks glorious, and for glory mode with many different final destinations give me hope.

Sorry, that was quite a ramble! It's fun to talk about this stuff!
Climbers? Oh yeah, if they didn't appear I'd go "Aww, really? Okay." and feel bad for people who liked them. They're cute and unique and a fight between them, Olimar, and Rosalina would be very interesting! Besides, I really doubt they're cut... many characters before them have a greater chance of biting the dust, and Smash Run has their polar bear. Not conclusive evidence, but eh, they kinda feel like a series staple to me.
Yeah I totally agree. That and just the announcer in general for Brawl was suuuuch a step down from the last 2. I hope for Smash 4 the announcer really gets some "oomph" back in it. Overall Brawl had great potential but the execution was kindof sloppy. Its more like a simple Melee expansion that never really went anywhere. Subspace, the music, and stage creator were big ideas that took big steps foward, but besides the music they all fell short of what they hoped to be. Subspace was shallow and bare-bones while stage creator was far too limited. Yes Brawl did do a lot of good things, but overall a lot of things in the game can be explained as "this is good but really fell short". Smash 4 tho already looks to be a MASSIVE improvement to Brawl, and Ill probably end up playing it for years rather than getting rid of it like I did Brawl lol.

I totally understand ahaha I get the same way.
Honestly, Im interested in seeing what the retro character will be for Smash 4.

A few filler PotD's and the hype is dead. Yeah no, if we endured through the Fillerfest that was October 2013, we can endure a few filler pics after we got 5 characters and a ton of info in the same month.
The difference here is it's the same information we saw. It's information that we absorbed within seconds of watching the Direct. And it just keeps coming night after night. With the filler fest of October there was always a chance of getting something great, with this we know it's not just going to be nothing, but it's nothing we already know. It may not have killed the hype for the game in general, but it has killed most of the hype the Direct generated. For me anyway.

EDIT:
I want to add that I have no problem with information from the Direct. There was a ton of stuff there that we could get into. We saw Poppant in the Direct, he chucked out a Bomb-omb as he ran away., I don't remember him doing that in SSE. Why not tell us what else he throws? There were entire chambers of Smash Run he could get into without really spoiling them, in fact he could tease them. "This is the desert. Look at that lever of over there. Maybe if Mario pulls it something will change in the environment." Or, like others have stated, even telling us the name of Mega Mans FS and maybe showing it in game instead of just the cinematic portion...again.

What I'm getting at is I have no problem with stuff from the Direct. In fact tiny tidbits from it is what I would prefer for a long while,, as long as it's something we can not easily ascertain by literally seeing it happen in the video

Yes, I think it would be quite jarring and odd looking for them to suddenly cut out of the cinematic, and then the 5 of them start shooting beams all over the place.

I was only making a general statement that was directed at no one in particular. I know there are many here that feel we have no right to complain about any lack of information regarding this game.

It's just hard for people to change their expectations at times you know? They want to feel excited about something. Sometimes I feel that it would be better if games (esp. like Smash) were unveiled half a year or less before their release date. Then maybe this mindset of over-analyzing and scrounging for every little scrap of new information would dampen.

Kudos to you though for providing everyone with perspective. ****ing MEGA MAN is in this game everyone, and not NEAR enough excitement has been expressed over this fact. Hell, I still at times have trouble processing the fact that SONIC THE HEDGEHOG got into these games ever since that AWESOME trailer of his revealed the truth.

ZOMG

****ING MEGA MAN AND SONIC ARE IN THIS GAME Y'ALL!!!

Yeaaah, the Melee announcer still gets me ready to put up my dukes! Whether he says "TIME!" or "Home-Run Contest!!" I'm excited. The Brawl guy... I'm not sure why, but he really was a let down, huh? Can't put my finger on why. Can't be the robotic kinda filter Melee guy had, is it? Not sure. And yeah, agreed. I hear wayyy too many people and studios worked on brawl and things got chaotic, cause some people worked on something and others tried to build off of that without fully understanding this or that, so eh... But I am so glad that subspace is not returning! I'm all for creative new enemies, but...why not use enemies from aaall these franchises ya got together? And why go to generic areas like "The Lake" when you can go to Hyrule Castle or the Pokemon League? I'm sure the Wii U exclusive mode is ganna be a blast, Smash Run on 3DS already looks more fun and awesome. Stage builder could easily be better. I'd like to add backgrounds from other stages or draw my own maybe, I dunno.
Mhm! Oh retro character? Yeahhh, if we got another that'd be fun and imaginative and all that but... I dunno, doesn't Little Mac fill the retro role mostly? I know he had that Wii game, but... They added his arcade look, sooo, bwagh. I'm not against another retro character, I guess I just have other hopes XD They should really have an NES Remix stage though, with looots of cameos.

As the flickr/Press Kit pics even show, the Male one looks downright weird when doing some of the moves the Female one does. Like it doesn't fit at all. That said, it's not like the costume wasn't an easy choice.

It just doesn't work that way with MegaMan. However, him having Alts of similar sized characters like Proto Man and Bass might work out fine. Marvel VS Capcom's colors even gave him a Black(Bass), Red(Proto Man), and Green(Choose your character reference. Although I can't think of any prominent Green ones. Sniper Joe? Snake Man due to the Ruby's Spear cartoon? I dunno). Besides those probably being in, he might get a Yellow color at least. The thing is, with Elec Man being the only known Assist Trophy, giving him direct Alts of guys like Proto and Bass actually would explain why neither were Assists. Of course, this is speculation and they still may be ones. We got more than one Metroid Assist Trophy after all(three for cripes' sake).
I always guessed the green alt is supposed to be Quint, a boss from Megaman II(the gameboy one) who is an evil Megaman from the future, and thus is mostly identical to Megaman with some minor modifications like Protoman, so he makes a lot of sense as a palate swap. Or it could be sniper Joe like you said. Or they just wanted a green color and it doesn't mean anything.

Protoman makes a ridiculous amount of sense for a Megaman alt costume since. It wouldn't be weird for him to have the same model as Megaman because he is literally the same model as Megaman. Exact same dimensions, same battle capabilities, ect., and the differences like the cape, visor and shield could easily be added as purely cosmetic elements. For reasons mentioned above Quint could work as well since he is Megaman, though he's probably much to obscure to be an alt costume in Smash Bros.. Bass is actually a fair bit different from Megaman but those differences could easily be glossed over especially since Megaman got a redesign anyway. It would be wired seeing Bass all cute and stuff like Smash Megaman is though.

The melee announcer quickly became memorable the way he says "camera" or "super sudden death" really just want you to play the game. The brawl guy on the opposite does NOT become memorable. It's like the melee voice is yelling (but not too much) while the brawl voice is almost talking normally which makes no sense. oh and he doesn't yell super smash bros which was also great in melee. Hopefully, this one will be better than the brawl one.

Yeah... Brawl announcer sounded really generic somehow. Hope this new guy is exciting but doesn't yell to the point where he is overdoing it! If only we got dojo updates instead of pics, I'd love to hear the announcer already! Hopefully they have one in a demo at E3.

I think it was that the Melee and 64 announcers were just that:announcers, that and they had mad voice reverb that made it 10,000 times more amazing. The problem with Brawls was his voice was too plain, with no effects, and he sounded more like he was trying to imitate an epic announcer rather than just being one. Personally I didnt like Subspace at all for the exact reasons you said, but I liked that it existed because it gave future games a foundation to build on. Unfortunately that was squandered. Yeah the themes and backgrounds for Stage Builder were too limiting. To be able to import your own, use ones based on established franchises, or just have a larger selection of basic ones would have been better. Another problem was that walk-off stages werent possible, you could only make floating stages. Granted you could exploit it and trick it into having a walk-off on the right side but that was it and only worked with small and sometimes medium stages. I could go on forever about stage builder improvements lol

Err... well actually I meant more along the lines of G&W and ROB lol

Yeah, it is kinda Off topic. And well, I like both announcers, but I Think I prefer Melee's. But that may be because of nostalgia right now. :/

I'm sure there will be Smash Demos at E3, and that we will hear the new guy then. :)

As for tomorrow... um... explonation of a item.

As I previously said in an earlier picture, the Beam Sword features a color gradient! Here's another picture of it!
No no no.

Pic of the Day: "Here's that Picture of the Beam sword from last week. I got the feeling that some missed it, so I will repost past Pictures from now on."

HELLO! :D

Why the hello? Also, of course there will be new screenshots. We've gotten new screenshots since the Direct. ^^ And new info in most of them as well. Not much exciting, of course, but that makes sense since we just had major bomb drops. Plus, E3 is Close now~

I wonder what tomorrow's pic will be. I don't want all of the pictures until E3 to be reiterating what we saw in the Direct. I want to know how Greninja's Subsitute attack works.

I don't even have a problem if they're from the Direct, just as long as he explains them more than he already did.

Hopefully tonight's picture will fill us in on the rest of the week. If it'something new then maybe the filler is over, if it's from the Direct I'm not even going to be tempted to stay up the rest of the week.

Beat the final boss of Amazing Mirror today and just around the corner is Triple Deluxe! The obvious predictions would be a Meta Knight reveal or more obvious stuff from the direct but no! I shall predict the unpredictable! I predict...(long pause and drum roll)...Wolf or Ganon!...;-; a man can dream. Would make for an amusing caption though "Today is the American release of Kirby Triple Deluxe so to celebrate, here's Wolf/Ganondorf!" No mention of why or what logic, just leave it at that...and let me be happy ;-;.

Yeah, I think so... I suppose you're right but I feel like I'll be pondering and comparing why Melee atmospherically immersed me so very much. It isn't just nostalgia is it? It was my first console game, but only after I saw the mysterious Smash64 at a summer camp and witnessed unlocking characters and Master Hand! Subspace, might've been exciting the first time, but I remember wishing the levels were shorter to watch more cutscenes even then. Looking back, now that I've been awarded with all the cutscenes and characters, I would really never go back and do it all over again, whereas in Melee, I take out my memory card and find joy in adventure mode and unlocking characters all the time! Sometimes I see how fast I can get em all, besides Mewtwo and G&W I guess XD
Sorry this is off topic! And sorry people who like Brawl's announcer more! Stage Builder could be really cool and I hope to get a pic of the day about it soon (ehh see? On topic again!) I thought that shot of Palutena's temple was a stage builder for sure. Aw well.
Oh and Meta Knight? March's dryspell made me guess Yoshi and Wario wrongly and lose hope, and Ice Climbers absence recently brought my hopes down too... But I gatta be right one of these times! Meta Knight at the end of this week! When else would they be revealed? E3? I imagine E3 Smash Announcements starting out with newcomers like last time. It made sense for the direct to end with a newcomer because if we saw Greninja at first, we might not be able to focus on the other stuff and the hype would've dissipated and the direct would have ended with Smash Run which is an okay announcement, but no finale to me personally. It was the right thing to do presentation wise for a direct. But! For E3! They'll wanna start out with a bang like every other game around them and elaborate later! So...veterans at E3 would be so easily overshadowed. Was anyone like "AHHH PIT IS BACK" last E3? None that I saw. So! I think Meta Knights gatta be this week! I just have no idea about when the Ice Climbers are supposed to show up? Expecting an august release maybe theyll show up July cause... Cause uhh...

I think people are getting overhyped for Meta Knight only to be disappointed. Diddy is the only US release where we've gotten anything that I can remember, and that was because the Japanese release date had a Direct. I hope the thread doesn't flatline when we get nothing like it did after not getting Yoshi.

The only possible saving grace of Meta Knight maybe appearing (which I still doubt) is King Dedede was revealed for the release in Japan, so it could be argued it could get a double dip.

Well when else do you think Meta Knight could be announced?

Isn't it the 22nd anniversary of the Kirby series?

E3?
A random date like Marth?
I really don't think E3 will have any veterans announced because ... well my reasoning is just a bit above. Basically, they have to start with a bang (newcomers) and any veterans after that will just be overshadowed. They really get their time in the spotlight during pic of the days. Random date? Maybe... but that doesnt seem as reasonable to me than at the end of this week with a Kirby title release.

Well E3 last year screwed up showing off all those veterans. Why can't Meta Knight just be shown in gameplay without actually having much focus like the veterans in the direct?
