It wasn't a bad week at all, people are just starved for a character reveal so anything less is a disappointment.

On the topic of the Nintendo Directs.... I think a lot of people don't realize what they are supposed to be. They are just small, fun updates for existing games.... they are not meant to be mini-E3s. We should only really expect 2-3 BIG directs a year, including the one at E3.

I'm glad I haven't been staying up for the pics. I love Phosphora, and was tired enough this morning to think she might have been an assist for a while.... but I think that is a roll better reserved for the Eggplant Wizard (who would turn people into Eggplants, making him a really fun assist), Medusa, and possibly Magnus (or Palutena if she is not playable or part of Pit's final smash.)

In a lot of ways, Phosphora would have made MORE sense as a playable character then Hades, Medusa, or Palutena. While those three characters are gods, Phospora is basically Viridi's version of Pit; While Pit is a commander for Paluntena's Army of Light, Phospora is a commander for Viridi's Army of Nature. She is also a super fun character and when you fight her she doesn't become giant... you can very easily see how her moveset would work from that fight. She is also just not that important to the series though, so I never seriously thought she would be playable. Great looking trophy though.

Still pretty confident we will get a character this month...come on Lucas!

So again, what do you exactly expect from a direct. A direct that is three months before the release of the game, that will probably have the most sales of all games during Wii U's entire lifetime (Mario Kart 8). A direct that is four months before E3, the biggest gaming show there is. What do you think a direct like that should contain, what did you expect it to show?...
Yeah because you had no expectations whatsoever. Give me a break.

The two characters a month thing is still on until March is over hahaha! Who knows if this month will end with a bang and two character reveals. A Direct could easily give us Snake or a newcomer at least, maybe even some random veteran along with it. We'll see!

I said very good. The word masterpiece is tossed around a lot. It may be a masterpiece since the word itself lost a lot of its meaning.
Tropical Freeze has flaws: the controls aren't perfect (the roll and the drum move is the same button? Really?) the platforming is full of cheap deaths (and no I don't suck at it, I completed 100%, but yes, it has ****ing cheap deaths too) and World 4 is pretty bad.
Also what the hell is meta-storytelling? Do you even know what metatextual even means?
Yes, the same button, you roll while moving and you drum while standing, why does that seem hard to you? I think it's perfect like that, another button would hurt the simplicity of the controls. The only levels that have any resemblance of a cheap death are the minecart levels or the rocketbarrel levels, and those give you two hearts now to compensate. And did you seriously call one of the best worlds of the game bad? You might find water levels difficult, but as you fighting game players love to throw this kind of phrase around "I found them easy as hell!". But seriously, World 4 was amazing, first time a water level's on one of my Top10 levels, but that's not strange, since almost every level on the game has something memorable about it.

Each world (Except Mangrove Cove) has a sort of background story being told through the various levels, the part where this reaches epic heights has to be Bright Savannah, although it's also pretty prominent on DK Island.

Reading Vintage Creep's posts make underwhelming updates so worth it.
You're welcome.

Rayman Legends did all that but better.
And that's not the meaning of meta but I get what you mean.

Yeah this week to me was pretty underwhelming. Maybe hes trying to waste time? Maybe the release date is right around the corner.

Or it's still so far off that they can't fill each day with gold. It could go either way with that logic.

Dat Phosphora in HD, this was indeed a great week.
I was expecting her to be an assist (she's just perfect material for it). Anyway, now I'll expect either Eggplant/Tempura Wizard, Pandora or Magnus.

Well, no Wario, but hey, look at the nice Phoshpora model! Remember people: It's a lot better than nothing.

Anyone else find it strange that a 3DS game's character in getting into the Wii U version?

Sakurai did point out that some 3DS materials will be on the Wii U, and vice versa.

Honestly I think people overread the 'console/handheld' exclusivness a bit much as it mostly seems to only relate to stages for the most part and there seems to be some expections to that rule even when it comes to stages. I can see some trophies being different too, but it's probably less console exclusiveness and just being whatever they want it to be model wise.

I don't even think it'll be as big of a deal with stage, I think each game will still probably share quite a few stages.

I had some hopes and some realistic expectations. Some came true, some didn't (main let downs for me was not getting to see anything from Hyrule warriors, FExSMT or Yarn Yoshi). Don't see what that has to do with anything tho?

You just wanted to avoid the question I guess. Lets leave it at that then, good talk! :)

Of course the very first post of the page I see is an overly opinionated "my thoughts matter more" post from a certain someone...

Anyway, neat trophy but kinda lackluster as a Friday pic in my opinion. Nice to see that trophies won't be completely exclusive, and that 3DS ones on Wii U will get sexy HD models.

Diddy was announced the 21st of February, now we're at the 21st of March. So 28 days. 30 counting tomorrow and Sunday.
I still can't believe he didn't show Yoshi. Simply stupid.
Why would he reveal Yoshi if his game wasn't released in Japan yet?

I have a theory about the lack of characters recently.

There will most likely be a Direct in April, right?

Smash Bros Direct~ 2 newcomers, 2 veterans, loads of footage, info on modes and such. Everybody happy!

Nah, E3 will totally have Three Newcomers like last time. ^^ Ridley and Pac-Man on the Conference/Direct, and Mii as a shock reveal like WFT was.

I don't actually Think we'll get a Smash Direct that time, but most big games gets their own Direct eventually, so it will happen some time, right? :)

World 4 is pretty bad.
Didn't mean to barge in but whattttttttt?

We talking about the same world that had Amiss Abyss, Irate Eight, and that awesome mine cart level?

I'd love to take some Tropical Freeze discussion to the general discussion thread.

This is what I get for skimming everyone's posts. Take notes people.

As annoyed as I am that we haven't got a character reveal yet, looking on the bright side, at least this update is way more interesting than actual filler pics. Hey, at least it ain't Luigi's ugly nose again or something as dumb as that!

I would wet myself, multiple times. Especially for the "info on modes and such"-part. I get that characters, stages, items and all that jazz build the most hype but damn, I wanna se some real gameplay footage, hear about new game modes and mechanics.

To make it my dream-direct I'd add, Sakurai: "We have also added multiple videos that you can view on smash youtube channel after this direct. They are all recorded from games played in the office lately. Enjoy". I so just wanna see this game being played and get a feel for how it plays!

Actually, a Smash Bros. Direct doesn't seem too far off. But I doubt we would see 4 characters, as awesome as it would be.
Well, if they really don't show any Veterans this Month, then they are two characters short compared to recent months, so it would be like just putting them off until the Direct to make the Direct seem even bigger. ^^ I could see Ness and Falcon announced like that, honestly. They somehow feel like they are in the same boat.

I really dont want to sound ungrateful, but am Ithe only person who doesn't really care for the trophies? In Brawl, I thought the stickers were a usless aspect, as well as the masterpieces, and trophies. While its fun to collect them all but I just dont mind it.

I really didn't care for the Stickers at all, and the Masterpieces, while neat, seemed like a huge waste of time and data. Trophies, though, (especially in Melee) are Always awesome to collect. ^^ So, I am happy to see a few in the PotDs. But I can understand if it's not very exciting for some.

I've always liked them, but I can understand why someone might not. It's just fun for collectors and completionists, really.

...... That was a REALLY lame attempt at trolling, Sakurai...
don't really think it's a good idea to try to troll your viewers in to thinking it's something interesting for it to be nothing. the wait was on purpose.
Sakurai trolle, after Viridi, the stage and now Phosphora, he waits what to confirm Palutena.
He trolled us all. That's all Ihave to say. lol
Oh, it's this word again. >_>

I just like all the KI stuff we're getting. It's preparing us for an inevitable Palutena.

And people think Sakurai isn't a troll. I'm betting now we don't get a veteran reveal.
Sakurai is a troll for showing us New things 5 times a week despite not having to show us anything outside of Directs and such, and without actually ever promising he's show characters left and right?

Troll really doesn't mean much these Days. :/

EDIT: and if you are talking about the "... is a Trophy." part, It makes a Little more sense, but still not a troll. :p
