From what I heard... it's to incorporate the whole "Real is Brown" deal.

Ugh, it's bland and not faithful to the Mario Series. . .

Also the fact that Brawls colour scheme was way duller than the new game which I'm so glad they decided to go with bright, vibrant colours this go 'round.

Same. Especially with the characters. Vibrant colors + HD graphics = Visual Happiness!

Character reveals have only been on Thursday and Friday if memory serves. I don't really expect anything new.

From what I heard... it's to incorporate the whole "Real is Brown" deal.

It was to show that the stage had become old, weathered and barren in the years since Super Mario Bros.. If you think of a joke in a cartoon or something where someone say is really out of shape and they go to their weight room and it's a desert complete with sand, a skeleton and tumbleweed, it's the same idea. Or for a slightly nicer comparison, it's like in Twilight Princess when you go to the Light Temple and it's been completely overtaken by forest.

I confess the game would be ruined for me if they only made Mewtwo playable as a Mega form. I'm fairly confident they will not do that, though.

Well, I can asure you that would never be the case. ^^ If playable at all, MegaMewtwo would most likely be Final Smash. And even then I expect it to just transform, use a powerful attack, and transform back.
