Can I confess real quick? I don't hate any character currently in Smash Bros. (Brawl, I mean, and the SSB4 newcomers)
I like them all for different reasons.
Yoshi is adorable and I really hope he is revealed tonight/today.

I gotta say I legit hate Yoshi. A lot of Mario characters are just...I don't know, incredibly kiddy and just lame imo. In their individual games I like them but when I just think of Mario, Peach, Toad, and Peach (even Rosalina) I can't help but thinking that they're just "fun" characters with nothing to really back them up. Hard to explain and certainly nothing against people that like Yoshi and Rosalina etc., just characters I'm anywhere from meh to ugh about.

BUT. We will get Yoshi tonight...90% sure. Also betting on one image being him using his shield (egg).

Remind me, most other times when a character was revealed for a game release, it was the Japanese release, right? Well, te Japanese releases are basically Always Before the other's release, so that may have been why charcters seems to be mostly revealed for Japan. But now, Yoshi is releaed outside of Japan first. So... Sakurai, be nice.

ooo, now that you mention... watch Sakurai show a picture of a Yoshi egg on a Yoshi-themed stage, but not update the character list with him. That'd be a nightmare.

If we're right about this this'll be the first time the vast majority have been on the same page about what's being posted tomorrow and correct about it. I don't believe Dedede was this widely assumed, and we got Diddy a week after we initially thought.

You're right. They aren't anything beyond fun characters. Aside from Bowser and Luigi they don't really have much personality beyond their roles as a good or bad guy. I just like them since they remind me of great games, and it's probably likely that today will tempt me to play through the original Yoshi's Island again. They remind me of good and fun times, that's enough to make me love them.
