Midnight Release Plans?

I live too far from gamestop to get there easily so digital is my only option. I will be downloading it on release and eating some good food waiting to do some release day crew battles.

Maybe we can exchange FC's and battle sometime. I have tons of friends getting Smash already, but I like having back ups cx

Getting it digital the instant it releases. It's a pretty big game though, so I'll probably just go to sleep with it downloading and play in the morning.

I'm going to try to download the Japanese version the moment it pops up on the eShop, but I've heard conflicting answers as to when that will be (I've heard multiple people say either 11 am EST and 10 pm EST).

For my US version, I'll be fine waiting (no I won't) since I'll already have a Japanese version, so I'll just pick it up at 10 am at Gamestop the next day.

Seeing as it's unlikely Gamestop's having a midnight (for whatever silly reason), I'm just gonna download at midnight, play til I need to be responsible and sleep for work and class, and then get the physical copy the next day.

The Gamestop I reserved it at said they were "likely" having one, so I might be going to a midnight release. Either way, I plan to take a day off on October 3. I'd rather just go to a store opening early on the third, since I'd probably end up sleeping in past when the store would have opened the next day if I went to the midnight release (and thus get home around 2 and play it for like, 20 minutes before collapsing from exhaustion).

My GameStop has to have 50 pre-orders before they consider a midnight release. They told me they were at 27 when I asked this stuff a couple weeks ago. Honestly, I find that pretty promising for a town of roughly 35,000 people, when you account for two Wal-Marts, a Best Buy, and digital downloaders.

Is anyone here planning on getting the game at midnight? I'm in the US and just called a few Gamestops and it looks like there are no plans to do a midnight release there. I could download, but I always prefer to have a physical copy

I think I may go the Walmart route, but I've have some pretty bad luck with them. I tried to get Mario Kart 8 after midnight and they had no idea what I was talking about and couldn't sell me the game.

Do you guys have plans/advice for getting the game at midnight?

I'm in Michigan, and the popularity of Smash here is crazy. It took me 4 hours to play Smash 4 at Smashfest and I was there before it even started. I don't know why there wouldn't be a midnight release here.

Stores are only allowed midnight releases if they have at least 70 pre-orders. If you all want a midnight release, get everyone you know to reserve the game!

12:00 AM on October 3, so that would be the night of October 2nd (Thursday) going into the 3rd (Friday).

On-topic: I will be downloading the game from the comfort of my apartment! My internet is decently quick, so I expect it to be done in 10-15 minutes. I'll be playing Brawl all night up until that point, remembering the good times. :')

I actually don't know if they do or not, I'm just really hoping they do. It's the best possible way to rub in other people's faces that I imported a Japanese 3DS and they didn't. I need to get my snob on.

Got an email from Nintendo stating that the game will have a midnight release, so I'm pretty sure every major retailer will follow suit.
