Yo Midland, we're playing at my house for a couple of hours tonight.

8:30pm until 11:00pm
Need probably 1 more melee setup
We will have Melee and 1 Project M setup most likely
Round Robin main event is likely if we have more than 4

I like how Mike has a photo of Acro/Fox main, Keith/Marth main, and his with DK main.
In his defense he was one of the premier DK players back in the day.

I got my emerald controller working at 100% again so I think I am going to switch back to it and use that grey "GameQ" controller as my backup. Kind of happy about that now. Also, I added some things I was missing to the main post.

Fear me. I am the wall that separates the top half from the bottom.
It feels good to have the best record out of everyone with a losing record.
I guess you can change my name to exJORDANary, since everybody else seems to have a cool super hero name. It's like extraordinary but with my name in it, because I'm so ****ing funny.

Yo! So I know we have a facebook page and all, but I wish people were more involved in this website. Why do I wish that? Well, one big reason is that all of the collected knowledge about this game is located here on this site. You can look at frame data of all the characters (Hitboxes, how long they last, down to the 1/60th of a second), matchups, and ABSOLUTELY EVERY bit of information that you need to become an absolute beast at Melee. This thread is cool, sure, but the reason I am putting so much effort into it is to start bringing the community back to our grassroots website, this one, Smashboards.com (commonly referred to as Smash World Forums, or SWF.) If you have a question on how to find anything in this forum, which has everything you can think of, ask me and I can help direct you. The new players in the region have seen my skill, and I want to tell all of you guys that you can become better than me, and even by a long shot, if you know what to learn and where to find it.

Seriousness aside, I am looking at the Melee ISO this week and next with my Gamecube Tool program, and the reason I am doing this is so that I can edit some of the sound effects. I figure that once I figure this out and get a little better with this program I'll be able to do things like add Falcon's "YES!" to when he connects with a strong knee, and other cool edits like that. Maybe he'll say "Amazing Punch!" when he over B's, if we can get someone to say it recorded in his voice haha. Anyway, just some ideas, and if you have any other suggestions on sound effects, let me know and as I play with it I will see if it is possible. On a side not, Acro has also been looking into this, I think he wants to make some music changes. Not only that, but I think Acro and Formal are both coming back to play with us again ;)

Today I am officially announcing the 2 Exhibition Crew Battle events that will take place at Revival of Midland 2. We will have a somewhat shortened Round Robin (2 pools) so that we can attempt to do both.

First is Team Crews. Team up with whoever you want, and come challenge Midland and the rest of the crews on our own turf! Stragglers can team up together as well. We can make this a double elimination event that is seeded by the teams average rank in the Round Robin (ties go to the team that traveled from further away). This is likely going to be the hypest event of the day. (MSU vs Holland? Midland vs Mount Pleasant?)

Second is Draft Crews. If we have 2 pools for the Round Robin, the top player from each pool will be a team captain. Of the two captains, the one with the lowest record picks first, then the other captain picks second. Captains can pick players from either pool, but obviously can not pick the other captain. They alternate picks until each team has 5 players. (Sorry to those who don't get picked!) Captains are more likely to pick players with good records, so that should be a motive to do your best, even though it doesn't really count!

AIDS and I JUST finished playing. Now, THAT, is how you play smash in Midland.

So there is this really hype crew battle coming up at the Revival of Midland 2, Midland vs Mt. Pleasant. On top of that, the front page of this thread was updated to look like this. These are all the important sections of the front page, where you can see all the stats and player info you want to see. I'd also like to do something like a "Player of the Week" section where we can highlight a player each week with a short bio, their RR record or tournament history, etc. It could be pretty fun I am thinking! Anyway, check these out, it is the way things are on the front page now.

4 Stock
8:00 Timer (Often NO timer)
No Items
Team Attack: ON
Stages: FD, Battlefield, Corneria, PS, Rainbow Cruise, FoD, Yoshi's Story, Poke Floats, Dreamland, Great Bay, Peach's Castle, Kongo Jungle 64, Kongo Jungle Melee (the one with the "Eddie Rock"), Jungle Japes, Brinstar, Mute City. (Basically, you have to be good at the game)

Advanced Slob Picks. If you don't understand, basically it is what happens now in competitive smash counterpicks. (Often times, loser just picks a stage)

Other Special Rules:
While in Midland, please use Midland's terminology for the things that happen in smash.
If you get hit by a "Falcon Punch" in a 1vs1, you automatically lose and must quit out.
To get recognized, beat people at smashfests and win games in the Midland Round Robins.
NO CROSSING BETWEEN A PLAYER AND THE TV if it is a Tournament game, Round Robin game, or Money Match.
YOU MAY CROSS IN FRONT IF - it is a friendly game and you AUDIBLY say "No johns" right before crossing the vision of the player(s)
At times, there may be a "When you lose a stock, drink." rule put in place. This usually comes with a notice.
Money Matching? Money goes ON TOP OF THE CONSOLE until match is complete. No money on the console means someone can pass in front saying "No Johns" and you can't be mad.
Midland Terminology:
Gabe Guard = Ledge Hog
Viper = A pretty viper awesome word
Side Dodge = Spot Dodge
Haney = Wait for opponent to roll around you while you are invincible, Fsmash them
BBE = Best Bowser Ever - My occasional win streak with Bowser
Chink = Clank
Amazing Punch = Captain Falcon's Raptor Boost
Amazing Grab = Grabbing CF while he "amazing punches" at you
Marty Edgeguard = Edgeguard with Up Smash
BITG = BACK IN THE GAME (Pretty much any big moment to tie up the game from behind)
ITFC = When Marty couldn't L cancel, he would IN THE FACE CANCEL
Miked = What you did when you used Fox/Falco's illusion off the edge of the stage
NOICE SPOIKE = Nice Spike
The Big Guns = Bill's "9's" with GnW
Midland Style = Close game, SD on last stock
The Acro Killer = Bair from the spawn platform, connecting for quick and easy revenge
Bowser Dash = Bowser's extended sticky walk
The Kicks of Stupidity = Using Fox/Falco's F-air off the edge of the stage
The Fire Edgeguard = Bowser's Neutral B as an edgeguard (pretty much until there is just fumes)
Shibby Walk = Why is everyone always running? Walk around and tilt or grab
Myth = Tier List (According to myth, Fox is the best character in this game)
LSD = Leg Sweep Destruction (Samus's Dsmash)
Quad Laser = 2 vs 1 infinate with one player grabbing and pummeling and the other jabbing (2 player wobbling?)
Coconuts = Luigi's dash attack
Super Martial Arts Kick = Fox's utilt
Super Fire Up Punch = Luigi's strong Up B

I like this region's scene. I was thinking and here are some attributes of what we consider Midland Smash:

Low tier mains do just as well or better that high tier mains in Midland.
Midland will talk crap even after the other player has proven they are better.
Some of us are multi-talented, we can drink and smoke and play smash all at the same time.
New school styles might beat old school ones, but SUPER old school styles beat new school ones.
When ranked players come to Midland, we unleash the secret weapon on them. Marty's Pichu.

What do you guys think about hosting a Michigan Melee summer circuit event on June 28th or July 19th? We're looking to fill one of those dates with a tourney.

Game and I have been talking about this a lot. We will put something together this weekend and get a venue set up in the next week. This has been something we've been planning behind the scenes for a while, and I think now is the time to set things in motion. Let me get back to you asap juggleguy.

Sounds Great!
Shibby and I are going to look into venues and hopefully get a local place to host and have a pot bonus added as well.
