Pit is tricky close range. I just kinda tried to get in his face and start stringing attacks to keep him from getting anything out, but that relies on him leaving himself open. He can be tricky to approach, but once you do, don't let up. I found myself being the most successful when I did get an opening, and I took advantage of my momentum to get a lot of damage in.
There's not much you can do about the arrows offstage except what you mentioned earlier; recover high. It at least makes it a little bit harder to get hit by them, and being horizontal to the stage is a bad place to be. We have to either airdodge or take the hit. We could probably clank the arrows with Nair or something, but we'd just get hit by a second arrow during the ending lag. So yeah, recover high.
