Meta weakness?

Well, I fight good MKs and Bad Mks.
I usaually beat Bad MKs but when it comes to good MKs i always get *****, 2 stocked alot with one being 3 stocked. I use link and Im not sure how i should be fighting you guys,

So is there a weakness to MK, what strategies do you use and is there a way to counter it?

if u want to beat MK with Link is very hard to do , I main MK and ROB
is really hard bcuz the poor recovery that link has, I got to say it link is excellent at the ground and fighting but when it comes to recovery and his weight that his weakness and if MK hits u with the UP B u are down at very low percents if MK edgehog


PS: u can use snake or ROB to beat MK.

Yea ure not guna beat a good MK with link i dont think its possible unless ure Deva you might stand a chance. Keep maining Link but when u vs a MK try to have a secondary charachter just for him (i suggest snake)

You can have a counter character like others mentioned, but if you're determined to use Link, here are a few tips:

- Train yourself to read your opponents patterns quickly. Everyone has them. MK moves fast so you won't have long.
- Play MK. Get used to him. Learn some of his tricks and how he works. KNOW YOUR OPPONENT.
- You're sword is a little longer than MK's. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that Link has the longest sword in the game. If I'm right, try to outspace your opponent. If I'm wrong, ignore this statement.
- Practice your timing. MK's attacks are near instant. Air dodging some of his more obvious maneuvers (like a Shuttle Loop).

Id say toonlink is alright cause hes got his projectiles (bombs can get annoying) and has good priority in the air (not sure if its better then MKs)
i never really had problems with pika though

As for a counterm you're notgoing to beat MK with link, sorry.

DK,Snake, Pikachu, and maybe Marth are your best bets.

Yeah regular link and his weight is his ultimate downfall against an MK but if you want to play link style i recommend Toon Link... my rival uses him and TL is pretty good matchup (if you know your TL) against MK but yeah for know counter picks is the best way to go...

weight (full power f- smash tipped by a Marth kills at 40%!!! [yes a good Marth should know how to space to land these suckers)

ducking cant dodge non-Rob laser spam

cant crawl

dimensional cape while in disappear mode can still be hit

non-gimped glides are predictable

MK is too awesome for his own good...

how is that not right I find Sheik's crawling very advantageous during campy situations...

True, but the point was really that I think Link has a bigger sword than MK.

As for TL, he has great ranged game. Unfortunately, the Mach Tornado goes right through all of them except the bombs. If you were to rely on bombs, you'd have to have some other fancy maneuvers to supplement it. Unfortunately, MK is probably going to easily out maneuver TL.

As for Pika. I don't know much about him. He's fast and I don't think his projectile is stopped by the Tornado*. The only major thing I know about him is that his thunder fails against falco lol

*I think I heard or tested once that the electric ball in the air will stop the Tornado, but once it hits the ground, it loses priority. Do not quote me on that, though.

Marth dosen't have projectiles nor is he heavy and hard to kill. Snake sounds about right though.

It doesn't matter. The general consensus among non-MK players is that MK is cheap/broken/etc. While I won't disclose my opinion on that matter, I strongly believe that MK's only real short-coming is his weight. And everyone knows that. Any other weakness can be overcome with a little adaption. And usually it's just that...little.

hmm, u wana fight MK make sure to run into his up b and alwase rush him with high hP. <3 oh forgot to say, u need alwase run into his tornado and let him recover after the tornado without attacking him..

kill off the top. link can do this with up air or his crazy fsmash. mk has a near perfect recovery but vertical kills are his weakness

MK gets killed more easily off the top or bottom than the sides. He has two glides, and can use both to out-maneuver just about anyone, Link more than most. The only thing Link can do against MK is pull off some really well-spaced smashes and airs, and predict/defend against MK's patterns. It's been said before, every player has patterns. Just find them, and predict them. And hope your opponent isn't good at mindgames.
