Could anyone explain that "DI mixup" Ito had to deal with against voids uair? Is void just staggering the timing? If Ito were to DI upward, does this open up more options for void? I don't understand.

Played at a fairly large local tournament, roughly 64 player DE Bracket. Only got one match recorded, against arguably the best player from my home City.

Winners Round 2: Comical:4ness: vs Schilt :4metaknight:https://youtu.be/3W-XfRF6t_w?list=PL9-B-YDqVAzWwkWAvClTjga_Paf7ofz5_ (I normally struggle super hard against him, so I was pretty damn happy with how I played, was a bit too cautious about going for the Up-Bs and I fell into the PKT2 wayyyyyy too much, but considering how close I came to winning, I was damn happy)

Couple of things I noticed.
  • You use Ftilt too much imo, Dtilt is much safer on block, longer range than Ftilt 1 and 2, and is quicker to come out too. Not that you should never use Ftilt, it's a decent move but Dtilt is just safer. I guess since Ness floats around in the air Ftilt is particularly useful in that matchup.
  • You seem to be unsure about followups. Don't be afraid to follow up dash attack or D/Fthrow with Shuttle Loop at guaranteed %s. It's easy and free damage. If you work on pulling off better punishes you'll be much scarier, our dmg per hit is not great so optimising punishes is key.

Hey guys, can I have some opinions and advises on my play? would be cool.
I'm pretty bad so take this w/ a grain of salt.

I think you were making too many risky moves at the wrong time against Diddy. When he has a banana out, charging Smash attacks as well as using moves like tornado is a bad idea imo since Diddy is easily able to punish those with his strong KO combos out of banana. I think you should have been playing a bit more defensively by doing things like shielding and air camping in those situations. You missed several conversions off of DA as well.

Here are two of Lucia's sets from Hirosuma2, a tournament in Japan that happened last weekend. I really love his use of Ftilt 1 -> Shuttle Loop. He'll also be at Genesis 3! Hype.

Prime example of a really good MK who doesn't get alot of stream exposure, which then results in other MKs worse than him being ranked higher just because they come on stream every weak and get bopped at locals.:yeahboi:

Hello everyone,

This is UA | Jbandrew aka LoF Jbandrew. Some of you may or may not know me but I've been playing Smash competitively for about 7 years and am one of the Co-Founders of Leap of Faith alongside NAKAT. I have results from both Brawl back in the day and now in Smash 4 am one of the most dominant players in TX.

I will leave this video here for you guys to watch, I really hope you enjoy it.

I haven't shared videos in a while so here I am. Yesterday's event (100% MK):

Poplar Pop Off 2 - 11/29/15
Bracket: http://challonge.com/PPO2Singles

Winner's Round 3: Pulse | TECHnology vs Yaegerbomb :4lemmy:/:4gaw:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozZ9gu3ibew

Notes: Oddly enough, I am familiar with Bowser Jr and thus, was not thrown off by his play. Game 1 was won rather...decisively. Game 2 was a lot closer because of my lack of experience in this MU (I've played MK vs GW like three times in friendlies).

Winner's Semifinals: Pulse | TECHnology vs LOE1 (#4 in Michigan) :4luigi:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfGK3GI73z4

Notes: LOE1 typically destroys me each time we play. I also really suck at doing the Death Combo on Luigi for some reason. I always get Nair'ed out of it. Despite that Game 1, I bopped him pretty hard. Was actually the first time I ever took a game from him. But then he turned around and got in my head Game 2/3. I just don't understand what to do against a very passive Luigi like him.

Loser's Quarter Finals 6: Pulse | TECHnology vs Waddle :4fox:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-76nPg7SGw

Notes: I do not enjoy this MU. Game 1 was stressful because he just never let me have any room to myself. It wasn't until Game 2 I figured out how to distance myself and play to my strengths. Game 2 was much easier.
Loser's Semi Finals: Pulse | TECHnology vs Smasher1001 (Ranked #12 in MI) :4mario:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUbiRFbDZ2w

Notes: I think I was just irritated after Game 1 and it clouded my judgment and play Game 2. I'm just kind of tired of losing to him. I also just hate playing against Mario in general. Would love advice here. Comboing him is also very hard because he can just throw out a Frame 3 interrupt if I'm not precise. He knows when I can Death Combo because he's one of my two static partners for doubles; we know each other's styles very very well.

Here you go. Advice is appreciated.

The Mario's :4mario::4luigi::4drmario: all have the same animation after getting Dash attacked making it so you have to wait a moment before you FH Uair. Just practice Uair combo's on those 3 in T-Mode, it becomes second nature at that point.

Game 1 vs Smasher you just ran at him and Dash attacked, the Mario MU is mainly about positioning, he wants to be up close but you want to be at mid range. You should've gotten into mid range and start playing the bait and punish game or spacing game with F-Smash and Ftilt 3 the other Ftilts are ass, Ftilt 3 beats out all of Mario's sh approaches. You generally let Mario get back on stage for free and don't condition him to wait on the ledge, Tornado and Jab are perfect for this mainly tornado due to its reward and being able to cover every option other than staying on the ledge. If you do this earlier on in the game, later on such as around 80-130% you can go for a surprise ledge trump to Bair. You generally play way too passive and you rarely go for grabs(and you never kill off grabs too), but that ties in with you needing to make your punish game consistent but that goes for all MKs no matter the level. The commentator even caught onto you never edgeguarding Smasher and the one time you went off stage, he went for Fair which whiffed and you went for Uair instead of Nair which would've killed.

Recommend watching these as well:

Fair analysis from WN2 imo. Watch these too if you haven't already. Dan adapts pretty well but Katakiri pulls through in GFs with wicked neutral play.

Katakiri plays neutral incredibly well out of all the top MKs(he also uses cape the best IMO), what you notice from Katakiri is that he doesn't relentlessly spam F-smash. Yes it outranges all of Mario's ground moves besides his own F-Smash, yes its safe on block, yes it has low cool down. But what people need to realize is that its no longer a baiting tool(or at least a really potent one), everyone who played Brawl or watch MK in Sm4sh should know that his F-Smash has low cool down.

You see him go for FH Dair OOS(stupidly good OOS option) and he approaches with FH Dair. He spaces it just outside Up Smash range and at a height where Mario can't Uair safely without trading or taking the hit. Dair is actually safe on block so long as you jump after each swipe. Katakiri actually uses MKs sword instead of slamming his foot against Mario's shield only to get shield grabbed and taking +40%.

Take note that he's always at mid range, the closest he approaches Mario is max Dtilt range. Can't stress enough how potent Dair is and the way Katakiri used it is pretty difficult especially on a somewhat short character like Mario.

You could say Tyrant played the Yoshi MU well, but he flubbed so many confirms that he handed DJ the win on a silver platter. This is backed up heavily when Ito 2-0d that same Yoshi.

TY for posting i didn't want to double post again.

Hello,

As I have noticed that many videos are going without critique, I have made a separate account for video review and critique. If you wish to have a video critiqued and this thread is not working for you, please private message me with the link(s) and I will get back to them as I can. I do not always check Smashboards but constantly check my email so I will get notifications of new videos. Thanks!

So I just went to a semi local tourney and finally got on stream. I got bopped by a Rosalina & Luma, and then later outplayed by a luigi in losers round 3. If you could give me any advice, I would be so happy. I feel like I respect people too much and never pressured them at all and eventually just get enough percent for them to KO me. Not the opposite. Here is the link, I dont know how to time stamp but its here at around the 59 minute mark, for the Rosalina match I am Rai!

You make just like, really unsafe decisions in general. And when you're not making an unsafe decision, you're waiting around and being indecisive. Also, you liked just hanging out in mid air way too much, don't do that against rosa. Or against anyone really, MK really wants to be grounded.

My scene lacks streamers at most events, so I don't have many vids of my better performances (I swear my worst performances are all recorded LOL). Okay this set is a little old (a little more than a month). I would like critiques, I never really come on these boards so....consider this an introduction? Meh. On to the stuff.

Sorry for the low quality, again, my scene lacks dedicated streamers. I know I messed up on and/or missed some key opportunities, but another pair of eyes I think can help me here.

Abadango vs Komokiri if you want to analyze it: http://www.twitch.tv/dabuz18/v/31967774?t=45m20s

In game 2 right off the bat i noticed you tried to keep Sonic out using Dtilt. Why? You tend to throw out moves in general when Sonic spin dashes(mainly dash attack) your better of shielding or avoiding it altogether. If Sonic is charging a spindash right in your face just hold shield instead of spotdodging, if your in a stand of situation

In neutral your best bet is to use a combination of F-Smash, FH Dair OOS, Dash into shield, jumps and dash grabs. I didn't include dash attack because alot of the time Sonic's will cancel their spin dash by shielding and then of course the MK user panic dash attacks and eats a punish, you can get a surprising amount of dash grabs in this MU, alot of people forget we can kill from our throws(not saying to not use Dash attack at all but be smart about that). F-Smash shouldn't be uses to beat Spin dash because it doesn't, it should be used to keep Sonic at mid range and see how he reacts after every swing. Abadango did this vs Komokiri and every time he F-Smash Komo Spin dashed into Shield. A good way to edgeguard Sonic is by abusing the 2 frame with Nair.

When you take the lead in terms of percent or stocks its your turn to play lame, our burst movement and reward from it is greater than Sonic's. A good tactic is to face away from Sonic everytime you shield, then either drop shield and move somewhere else or FH Dair OOS the range on the back hit is greater than the front and prevents Sonic from running in and grabbing you or running into Shield to shield grab. After ga,e 2 6wx was consistently punishing you when you charged F-Smash at the ledge, you should try to punish his get up options(see Abadango using Nair to punish get up options) because your generally letting him on stage for free. I didn't see a single ledge trump to Bair.

I think that's all i got to say, mistakes such as F-Smashing over and over on the ledge and Dash attacking as a panic button bleeds into your other games. You even dash attacked Sonic at 120% near the ledge, that was a very obvious back throw kill something Aba realized in his game against Komo he stayed locked in center stage since Komo will kill via back throw. Of course polishing your kill confirms is a must but that goes for every MK.

Quick notes on the Sonic MU: Tornado cleanly beats Side-B. (Jab doesn't). Sonic gets combo'ed similarly to Mario so he's easy to kill with the BnB.

Remember that sonic dair autocancels when he does one jump then up b it doesn't autocancel with only up b he has to jump. remember to shield completely spin dash if they want to horming attack if u react fast enough u can spotdodge or roll, its good to shield it completely because if he up bs that would be punishable. He was waited for u in the ledge be careful at high % they can sit in the ledge baiting with spin dash to get a back throw at high %. and like u mentioned don't do those risky pivot grabs. Our nair breaks spin dash too. Everything else u did pretty good.

I wish my set with Hooded was on stream 2 nights ago. I beat him 2-0 and he's one of the best Ryus in NJ behind False.
