Number 13 over on the SG boards seems to believe that a last minute "Snipe" donation will throw us into chaos and turmoil. I disagree, most of the people who donated are going to be monitoring the numbers until the end. However i feel we should organize a final donation drive to be held in the final hours. Lets finish this four stock with a spike.
exactly
actually, if you could get TWO more donation drives, it would essentially wrap this up

Do they really think they can snipe a 8k lead that is only going to grow? I was looking on the SG facebook page and a lot of people seem torn to donate because of the lack of support that the 360 and PC versions have been getting. The PC version doesn't even exist yet and the 360 version is one or more patches away from the PS3 version. I think 1 more donation drive would be good to lock it up but I think we're pretty safe. That doesn't mean stop donating though!

It's an 8 k lead for now. If this continues they very well could snipe us at the end.

If another drive is planned I might toss in more bread.

^^yeaaah that guy is like number 1 sketchy "were gonna snipe u" guy on the srk forums lmfao.

welcome doe, ps guys Im gonna buy your game. I really enjoyed the demo & heard the online is smooth.
I kinda wanna learn skullgirls now.
me too^ it's pretty fun, reminded me a lil of marvel plus

BOOOOOBIESSSSSSS
Yeah I bought it too solely because of this donation drive. Don't underestimate the power of an excellent example. You guys may not win, but have no doubt that you'll be introducing hundreds of players to the game just by making them wonder what's so great about a game that it gets its fans to donate 5k in its name.

I am having a hard time learning how to play, even with the tutorials. I've only ever taken a few fighting games seriously, and excluding smash, none competitively. I used to play Naruto and Dragonball Z 3D fighting games with my little brother and friend, and as with everything I do, I took the game seriously enough to develop strategies (but probably nooby low level ones). But smash is the only 2D fighter I've ever taken seriously, and it's hardly traditional, what with being a ring-out based platformer without set combo strings, unique grabbing and blocking properties, and combos escapable mostly by double jumps and Directional Influence, to name only tiny portion of the things that makes it so fantastically unique and yet easy to learn at a basic level so that it doesn't frustrate noobs.

Do we have to say "If we lose?" can't we just say second place. I feel that in the end, none of us lose because

A) We are donating to help woman keep their nice luscious breasts healthy
B) regardless of who wins, we will both still support each other and proved to the fighting community that we both meant business and that we are not a "dead game" (SkullGirls) and not a game for whiny immature players (Super Smash Bros).

But as I must say, let the best community win.

"Hope to everyone, also to me. Fear to everyone, also to me.
That one is near to me. That one is near to me!
They are allies to me, those who were once strong men and rivals.
And by contesting and by fighting fiercely, surely our splendor grows."

According to skisonic and James Chen we have every right to be considered a real fighting game. The majority dismiss smash, but actual backbone of the FGC are ready to embrace us.

You know this was a funny thought I had...

The FGC doesn't consider smash a fighting game. But if you take away the mechanics arguments for 1 second, you realize it is a fighting game because all these nintendo character are...you know...FIGHTING....

lol just a thought.

Skullgirls continues to climb a hundred every couple hours. If we didn't donate more by the end we could for sure lose to last minute snipes. Is there any way we could orginize another drive?

Another drive? Just donate. There are future plans to donate more, go ahead and do your part too. I wouldn't donate even more after the amount I put in just because we had a podcast say we should while we were 8k up. We can last minute snipe too ya'know.

better to keep a big lead throughout then resort to sniping
besides, why not have another podcast AND last minute snipe

that being said, everyone still go and donate

EDIT: where'd you find this ~5500 that they're sniping?

Been digging around and I've found evidence towards SG community having upwards of $5500 from snipers.

Which means we have to stay at least $6000 ahead of SG to avoid losing.

Could all just be bull**** but it's something to look out for.

those who have tumblrs, you should check the following tags when you get the chance

"evo2k13" "ssbm" "skullgirls" "Super Smash Bros. Melee"

ive seen like, 5 posts asking people to donate to melee and explaining the drive and what its for. They don't have very many notes (highest notes ive seen was like, 3), so you should reblog and like them to get the notes up. Be sure to retag them when you post them though, iirc, when you reblog something, it doesnt automatically save tags

I reblogged on my tumblr as well, but I don't have any followers.

Also, I don't think its going to happen, but if Mike G's news is true...

wow.

prog, you have tumblr? whats your link, ill follow you and reblog (unless i came across yours and reblogged it already)

guys, even if you have friends on tumblr and you dont have one, ask your friends to reblog the posts, the more notes the better

i have 124 followers, but no one listens to my posts, so i asked several people with like 200+ to reblog and ask for donations too.

EDIT, ill link the posts i found myself, just send them to people to reblog if you can

Just wanted to say good on you Melee community for putting on such a good showing thus far, and good on Evo for donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation instead of the giant scam Susan G. Komen runs.

Yeah I talked to prog about it and we don't think anything crazy is going to happen. Sorry about that. just got excited.

Also I'll donate 30 next week when I get my paycheck

It's unfortunate they chose breast cancer though... breast cancer research gets so much ****ing money compared to every other type of cancer research and even every other charity, for the most part. What we're doing here isn't really putting a dent in that amount, whereas it COULD put a dent in some other charity that doesn't receive nearly as much.

Nice job to whoever just dropped $100.

EDIT: Did the WePay page suddenly stop working for anyone else just now?
