Right so everybody knows that when you Bair with Marth he kind of turns around and you can't Bair in the same direction again. Well I was just wondering why he is the only character who is like this....

At the moment i can't really think of any other characters bair who is like this...haha really can't :p

Anyways do you guys think this has made Marth's edgeguarding skills better or worse? IMO i think if you miss with bair and not being able to do it again in the same direction kinda sucks...however when you jump ---> bair ---> jump again ---> bair in other direction I think that looks really cool

Well i just kinda found it weird and i wondered what you guys thought.

Discuss :chuckle:

The after-lag for bair gives you little reason to want to do it again for edge-guarding since presumably if you hit with it the opponent will be launched far enough that you won't need to bair again. If you don't hit with it, you're probably better off fair'ing or just going straight back to the ledge since you don't want to be gimped and it'll basically be a race to the ledge.

Interesting thought though.

Oh right, yeah. Bair has lots of after-lag. However, sometimes when you want to force an airdodge out of an opponent you may want to bair but seeing as we can only do it once we wont be able to use this tactic because as soon as we do bair, and force an air dodge, then WE are forced to do a fair which has less knockback and range. Well we could actually do a nair...but that is not so easy to hit with :p

But seriously, why would the Sakurai make it so special that only Marth has this interesting property in his bair???

Maybe it has a secret use...or not :p

Don't be so naive and believe the bair is so 'great' or mysterious... It's quite childish.

And since when was Marth's nair hard to hit with? especially against air dodgers...

Haha dude when did I ever say that...and you dont think it's weird at all how Marth is the only character who turns around after a bair? -.-

After you do your bair, you start falling assuming that you already used your double jump, it's not that easy to hit with when you're falling.

Don't think it does....

Does it??

Edit: Oh Roy could do it in melee but Ike definitely cant.

I use Ike's bair with the C-stick and do not notice any turning.

With the control stick, it may be you buffering in a turnaround, an issue that plagued Toon Link users early on as well for some reason unbeknown to be.

I've tried it with both. He never turns.

Maybe it's just because I usually SH it, so I land before I turn back around.

He is talking about how the actual move's animation involves Ike turning around and slashing...

When I jump and miss a Bair, I double jump and create a wall of Fairs. I think the reason its unique to Marth is because all of the other character's would be screwed over by it.

If angled correctly, the Bair can produce about the same effect as Ganon's Sparta-kick.

Directly above you tipping a dair.
Well then shoot, Diddy does the same thing with his bair (i know this for a fact, fox probably does too). Its clear that the thread was started because marth turns around and stays turned around after a bair. I do find this wierd myself as well. However, i like this because i can run offstage and stagespike someone with it then not have to concern myself with reversing my dolphin slash. In any event, i like the tipper area and general hitbox for bair because it allows you to hit your opponent while you are below them and slightly to their side (in other words, it hits diagonally upwards). This diagonal position is usually not covered by many characters aerials besides those with swords.
