nairs really good vs falcon, because its the exception to the arc thing that kk was saying. cuts em right out of their own nair or w/e, they have to predict with a raptor boost to get you and when theyre throwing out raptor boost guesses, you should be home free

just nair in place, and mix up between jabs, dash away, forward b, another nair, dtilt, etc. afterward

Falcon can also go over it with FJ / instant DJ aerials and use the height to evade > punish it. But... that involves jumping high against Marth as an approach. Which Marth should be fine with anyway because then that opens up for more up tilt opportunities, and other nonsense, which allows you to start a combo on Falcon and eventually smother him with cotton candy.

So, yeah. Nair is really cute. Mad cute, if you will.

Whenever I want to approach a falcon, I have a tendency to cap the ledge for a bit until the make the mistake of coming to me, then its just fair, grab, down throw, fair, my ****ty ledge game involving d-tilts, F-Smash, Charge B and Dair.

My Falcon game as improved quite a bit though.

The most difficult thing for me right now is changing my whole style because I was a very aggro, jumped a lot player, now im trying to reverse my whole style...

Never hit him with the inside of any of your hitboxes unless you want to get grabbed -> 0 to 60% combo'd. My best advice (which works for me, I'm not sure about any other Marths) is to walk instead of running for spacing. Also, dashing into a shield jump can really clean up your spacing drastically. My favorite attack for spacing against Falcon is dashing and shield jumping and nairing the top of his head while falling backwards.

From there Falcon is basically in a sticky situation if you hit his shield because he's out of grab range, and nair range. Also, make sure that you hit that mofo on the ground as often as you can and techchase him like no other. :D

Yea definitely but I think it depends on how you're weighing things cause utilt is super punishable on whiff so yea it punishes the hardest but retreat fair is really safe and sets up tech chases and at some percents even combos into dash attack/fsmash/more fairs.

Personally I don't like zoning with nairs because basically you're hoping people just run into them or that the spaced ones on shields will bait shield grabs but if that isn't working then it's not doing much plus being vulernable to side B is a really BFD imo cause that's probably the fastest way to lose a stock if it actually hits.

They seem to work for better plays than me though so go figure.

You can Fthrow>Dtilt him off stage. Then run off and fair>fair. for an easy gimp.

At about I think 42% you can Uthrow>Utilt Falcon. Uthrow gives the best frame advantage.
Overshot Nair.
Dtilt>GTFO.

If u dtilt falcon off stage u have to kill him or you probably shouldnt win.

:phone:

Right, i was just talking about straight punishment potential, but if falcon baits out dat uptilt and punishes, then hes succeeded at his goal for the MU(for 1 stock that is)

Around 80% Uthrow to Fsmash is guaranteed as far as I know, and unlike the spacies, you don't have to slightly move to the left or right if they're right above you, it'll still connect.

When Falcon gets to a certain percent he becomes very easy to combo and get off stage.
It's getting him there that can be challenging.

niko i feel you on the forward b thing, but i think the nair is just too good of a move that offers such different advantages when compared to his other moves that it, at the very least, shouldnt be ignored

do a lot of nairs early on, condition the forward b, then just stop until they stop forward b'ing

you can take a forward b or 2 at low%'s, just dont DI the next hit wrong

Btw Niko, Question, I was watching a bunch of your matches from Sudden Death 4 and I noticed your U-Smash a lot, espcially at odd times... is there a reason for this?

complete mistakes lol

Big D I really like nair but I like aggressive overshot nairs. I just don't think it zones well. Even the spaced ones on shield are just ***** by a quick nair oos from falcon.
