Marth Doubles Partner Discussion #1: META KNIGHT

Okay First things first, I'm not a doubles player.

But I still am curious about how the Marth community feels about teams and partners.

Therefrore, I will make this thread and a new one every week, with a new character every week.

At the end of the week, I will sum up how the community feels about the partner.

Week 1:

META KNIGHT

How do you feel marth works with meta as a team?

What are the strong areas and what are the weak ones?

I expect some feedback, so please share your thoughts!!

It's not the end of the week or anything, but I'll start writing the overview.

LOTS OF FEEDBACK IS STILL NEEDED, SO DON'T THINK I'M DONE!!

Strengths:

-The two can destroy most opponents with ease, marth can cover for MK's lack of killing power and also get the opponent off stage so that MK can edgeguard.

-MK's moves can create openings for marth's stronger ones, such as shieldbreaker or for a Dancing blade or Dolphin Slash.

-MK can go offstage and **** while Marth stays back to dominate the other partner with his 1 on 1 skills.

-Marth can cover up for MK in the killing department, allowing MK to SPAM SPAM SPAM without worrying about how he's going to kill his opponenet

-They both dominate in 1 on 1, when split up (They each take one char) they can **** without getting in each other's way.

-After their godly edgeguarding has claimed one victim...(MK and Marth vs. 1 opponent should not be legal)

-They both have great offensive UPBs, priority, speed, punishers and power.

-They are both GREAT offensive characters, combined, they breakthrough anyone's defense

Weaknesses:

-Their recoveries may just get in each other's way if both are knocked offstage at the same time.

-MK normally has no trouble against projectiles, but when he is pressured to protect himself, he must also be concerned about not hitting Marth too.

-If they are not separated, most of their moves can interfere with each other's combos and what not.

-Both very Light and have no projectiles

FINAL OVERVIEW:

The two together **** so hard it's actually illegal in Alaska, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, and North Dakota for the two to be in the same team.
XD You forgot Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, Ghouzou Province, and most areas of Hokkaido, but still very true XD

HOWEVER,

They can get in each other's way if not split up.

So basically, they OWN.

Compatability rating:

9/10

Starting out with the big guns. Personally would have saved MK for a later time but whatever.

Anyway I would like to flat out state right now, I don't play with Marth in doubles. In fact I don't have much experience in doubles at all.

Since both are very competent characters by themselves you can definetely just split up the other team and handle it seperately. MK with his quickness applies the pressure necessary to force the opponent into making mistakes which you can punish with DB or DS or anything.

Marth in doubles in general can use DS with a lot more carelessness than singles because your partner can cover for you. With MK, he can quickly dash and attack the enemy that may be waiting to punish you.

Your edgeguarding game becomes godly thanks to MK. DB combo hits opponent off stage, MK ***** them, one stock gone.

I beleve this matchup relies primarily on how well MK can pressure both players with Marth playing the quick punisher, a tactic that lives of the primary strengths of both characters. An awesome edgeguard game and godly damage racking abilities, and quick finishers makes MK and Marth an extremely good team.

Weaknesses are primarily their weight and tight spaces against projectiles. Although MK can handle projectiles by himself, when in tight cramped spaces he has to worry about hitting his partner, and as such the team faces trouble in the cramped quarters of Luigi's mansion or some other place. Their weight is a weakness against heavies, namely Snake.

This analysis is pretty noobish because I have no experience to base it off and only some knowledge of both characters which almost has no bearing on how well two players can use them as a team. But hope it helps.

The two together **** so hard it's actually illegal in Alaska, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, and North Dakota for the two to be in the same team.

The two basically show superior stage control without throwing their ally off tempo (Diddy in doubles may do this).

Marth helps MK kill if MK spams his kill moves. MK helps Marth by creating openings that Marth can run in and weave in and out of with even more safety than before. Tornado spam can help weaken shields, and you also have Shield Breaker.

The two have a great Dtilt trap, furthering the fact that the two help create openings for the other.

Another bonus is that MK can go offstage and gimp with ease, while Marth stays on-stage to dictate control and prevent the foe's teammate from interrupting (like it'll happen anyway, no one questions MK).

The only weakness is that the two may have trouble with prolonged projectile abuse by Falco, Snake, ROB, or Pit (mostly high-speed or large-radius projectiles). Even then though, that's a very small weakness since once you get through that, it'll be hard for the projectile users to find a way out for breathing room.

Actually, there might as well be no weakness. This is Meta Knight. xD

Also, Steel's signatures show some sort of elitism that will wear off after Labor Day. xD

MK is god and Marth is god's hand so put the two of them together what do you have? A god with an extra hand, let's put it like that.

roflmao.

SHOK your thread was another fluke, that just destroyed EL's

EL just post your thread then refer them to SHOK's thread b/c I doubt your thread talks about all character compatibility with Marth. Unless something might interfere with each other's threads.....want to discuss it in MBR?

Are you saying you were building up the posting of your thread in other threads and now it was all pointless? Are you saying you addressed this many times in other threads? Or something else? Man I'm confused. Btw TL discussion up. :)

Agreed, that would be quite funny.

Anyway MMK team is complete ****.

2 Best aproachers, 2 best ofensive UPBs, 2 Best edge guarders, Lots of priority, Mach tornado pressure on shields to shield raper, Great speed, Great punishers, good power..... and many many more. Only weaknes is both being light and no proyectile (But like if they need a proyectile anyway...).

(I´m tired, so forgive mah speeling)
