What tricks and tactics does it have? What can it do? What do you use it for?

Anything and everything.

Seriously though, it's mainly used for controlling approach and setups.

It'll be said plenty of times, fireballs are best for approaching. It might even refresh other moves.

If you can get good timing, you can probably gimp characters with bad recoveries. Stun their second jump, and just edgehog.

Fireballing their second jump makes their 3rd jump very predictable, and thus very easy to cape.

A smart player will never pull a rookie mistake like that. Suppose it was Link. He'd fall a bit, then use his last jump. Your best option would be to edgehog, not cape.

I use it when I'm in very very tight spaces. For example I admit, I'm very very predictable when coming back on the stage (when hanging on the ledge) I either roll, or jump up. Camping with Fireballs will stop opponents from coming so close to the ledge and can save you from being edge guarded.

Use it for approaching/retreating, and use it all the time against MK force him to approach lol.

Fireballs = Good, use them on the ground if your opponent is coming at you, and SH or FH if they're attempting to come in the air, they're great!

I used to SH fireball opponents on the ground, then Monk told me that wasn't a very good idea.

I mix it with Fireball -> Grab/pivot grab/SH Nair/SH Dair/Usmash. Depends on the character, their percentage, and how often I've used each one for mixups. Staying unpredictable with your followups to fireball is key.
