Flopside pit:

1. Get the best charm possible from Merlee.

2. Bring about 5 items or so down with you. Best things being Health Items. There's not much need for attacking items IMO.

3. Abuse the heck out of Barry to take less damage overall.

4. Playing as Bowser is fine for the earlier levels. Mario is the best overall choice though.

5. You will have to complete the pit 2 times to fight the boss. He makes you redo the entire pit after the first time you beat it.

I feel so bad for not finishing Thousand Year Door past the second star or so, seeing as how Paper Mario is one of my favorite games of all time. It's so much fun every time I start a new file and start playing, but something ALWAYS seems to come up and suck away all my free time until I get to the point where I can't even remember what I was doing in the story, so I figure I might as well start over.

Now Super Paper Mario, that's a different story, I played up to the last level and just didn't finish it because it was so mediocre IMO that I didn't care. I was so disappointed by that game.

The next Paper Mario IMO should be like the first two yes. I would prefer the next one to be a bit more creative when it comes to partners, or a few bigger changes in the plot line. For example, Star Spirits, then Crystal Stars, then Pure Hearts? Not creative enough IMO. Mario's always collecting stuff, usually 7 or 8 of them, before battling the final boss. Why not make it more/less/change the objects that are being collected? Why not collect pieces of a map, or parts to a machine that will allow you to travel to the final boss, or something other than STAR STAR HEART lol.
Agree completely.

The battle system needs to be like the second one, with a few tweaks. Remove Super Guard (SUPER GUARD IS BROKEN),
YES. I was already abusing Super Guard by the time I got the first star, lol.

How far in are you? I beat the game already and am going through it again. Just can't get enough bowser :p

IMO, BIS is probably the most funny of the 3.
I just beat Monsoure Bloque after getting the vacume block. I've played the game a few times through already and I agree. Fawful and Bowser are both aparantly comedic geniuses.

Come to think of it, a LOT of the characters in that game are comic relief. They've got a ton of witty one liners that are just a riot to read. Now we travel...

...WITH OUR MIIIINDS!

Anywho, I'm just at Bumpsy plains after the first Giga Bowser battle. I'm considering doing the rest of the playthrough with the "medal that makes things harder." All I need is to get 150 hits on green shell Cholesteroad to do so. If only I wasn't hitting a wall in the 130s...

I've played Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and all three Paper Mario games and loved every single of them.

It would be really interesting if Mario was the final boss in the next one. Bowser was first, then Peach, then Luigi, who's left? Mr. M would be cool to fight IDK how they would do it, but it would be pretty cool.

The battle system needs to be like the second one, with a few tweaks. Remove Super Guard (SUPER GUARD IS BROKEN), don't allow broken Items or Badges (AKA no "Danger Mario" like one poster said about keeping Mario's HP at 5 while dishing out ******** damage and also taking 0-1 damage per attack), either have partners with HP but have Mario take all the attacks or the partners have no HP like the first one and you can let them take an attack at the cost of them being out for that many turns (maybe half the damage instead of the full damage, or something where you can only do like 3 damage to the partner and have them sit out for 3 turns).
.[/QUOTE]

Removing badges was lame if you ask me. I agree that the battle system should be like 2, but 2 was pretty easy too. PM1 was the hardest IMO, since mario took ALL the attacks, and it was harder to break him. Super Gaurd does need to go, since with a little bit of skill and observaation, it makes the easy task of staying alive even easier lol.

I think the next paper mario needs to return to the RPG style. I'd almost group SPM in line with the mario platformers if the game was itemless, they removed the light level up system, and they cut down the text tree into splinters of wood. I still loved that game with a passion, but it didn't feel like paper mario at all besides the graphic style and some of the abilities.

I beat BiS last night. Now I got to go back and get all the characters to level 40 and finish off the Gauntlet challanges (I'm not a good Cholestoral battler or a massager). Right now I've gotten both bros to level 35 and about 1 battle away from a level up and bowser at 31. I know that I'll have to get the bros higher than that to finish off the gauntlet, but at least beating Dark Star X and at that secret rank is a start.

Not remove ALL badges, but remove the stupid ones OR remove the ability to stack the same badge (or limit the number of certain badges you can wear by either only putting in a few in the game, or having the game not allow you to wear more than x of those badges). I like the idea of having badges and using some strategy with them, but in the first and second Paper Mario there were some stupid badges or badge setups. Paper Mario TTYD especially was ******** in this area.

I liked the idea of partners having HP, BUT when you factor in the late game where you have a buttload of partners to sponge any damage to Mario it can get a little dumb. Combined with Super Guard you were hard pressed to ever lose period. I think you could have something where you can allow your partner to take a hit, but when they do they have to sit out for that many turns (or half the damage done would be converted into how long they have to sit out. That could be fair IMO.)

I completed every Mario RPG game more than five times except for Super Mario RPG, I only completed that game once and currently playing it. I forgot how to block enemy attacks, lol. )=
well first to tell you to block, you hit A right before the enemy attacks, and the same applies for a combo when you atk, as in at the very beginning, when mario punches, hit A and he does a dbl punch for more damage.
And i played paper mario, not super or TYD yet but im excited to try them :) i beat supermarioRpg once which was probably half a month ago, just because i played it back when i was 7 and it was my all-time favorite game in the world and I swore when i lost it i would beat it because i never did beat it, and then got it and finally beat it. Paper Mario was extremely fun but i never knew how to get to the last boss!!!! lol so once i get it im beating it DEFINITELY then im playing TYD and SPM just bcause i never tried them :<

You fight "Mario" in PM:TTYD when you try to get your body back, however I'm not sure how they'd make Mario the main antagonist in a new game without letting Bowser win . . . .

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is my favorite. I think that's probably the first RPG I ever played as well, so I have very fond memories of it.

2nd place probably goes to Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, but that's just because I <3 Bowser!

Mine too! I remember renting it first when I was 6, and the save data was on the Factory level. Then, I bought it for myself, and I truly fell in love with it from the beginning. Nintendo and Square Enix gotta come up with something like this again! The Paper Mario's were good, especially TTYD, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Partners in Time were awesome, but they were kinda easy compared to the first Mario RPG. :p

I never played Mario RPG...

I absolutely loved Paper Mario and Paper Mario TYD. Super Paper Mario was a bit off-track from its former installments, but still was fun.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was just as good, if not better than Paper Mario. I never got Partners in time tough... :urg: and I really want Bowser's inside story.

Luigi being playable in the game is the reason why Mario & Luigi is better than Paper Mario. Super Paper Mario made Luigi amazing, Mr. L and Green Thunder, best names EVER!

☯ I'm sad to say that I only played Bowser's Inside Story only twice. I like the game, but there's just too many mini games for me to enjoy the battles. Strange to say since the mini games in BIS are the best in the Mario & Luigi series. Maybe I'll get use to playing the mini games someday.

I only played Bowser's Inside Story.

Never played SMRPG, heard it was good. That's about all I know. Oh, and Geno. :awesome:

Paper Mario was awesome for me. Paper Mario 2 was better to me, though. Sure, Flurry, and the tiny number of optional bosses were both letdowns. But you know what? The music, the places, everything were just more appealing. And after Smorg, I found the bosses ridiculous. It might be because I always reach level 20 in the Palace of Shadow... Is that underleveling or something? ^^"

SPM was okay. Creatively speaking, it was my favorite paper mario game. However, I feel it departed too far. I missed the badges, and the fights became both easier and harder at the same time. Sure, it's harder to get hurt, but it's easier to mess up.

But two comments there.

1. World 9? Did I miss something here, or was that a typo?

2. I think the new Paper Mario game should strive for creativity like SPM, but stick with the awesome formula. In all seriousness, I missed the badges, the tattle logs, the stylish moves, the SOLID PARTNERS... I mean, the partners in SPM... the pixls... they were both hollow literally and figuratively, and I didn't like it.

But then again, I don't think it should depart from the seven item thing. I always found seven dungeons an enjoyable amount in both games, and then there were usually more side dungeons. If they went down to 4 or 5, there had better be more extra ones to compensate. And I do NOT mean multiple pits of 100 trials.

Maybe something like Muramasa's monster dens, where in each of the 5 dungeon areas there's a special area that's blocked off til endgame. Then, after you win, you can go through those extra areas that ascend in difficulty in the same order as you visited their areas, until you return to area #5 and take on the last one. Each one could have new enemies, and a unique boss.

That's my take on it.
