A colourful portal (not M-shaped) appears below your characters and they disperse into goop and appear in another part of the stage. If they don't have a second (offensive) item they will be aided out of conflict, and if they do they're sent to a busy spot where they can wreak havoc.

8-Bit Pipe
1628005872333.png

In Mario Odyssey, these pipes transported you into 8-Bit portions that you can travel through. In Mario Kart's Battle Mode, this is essentially a surprise-attack item, allowing you to sink into the ground as an 8-bit sprite, completely invincible to everything. If you're hot on the tail of another battler, you can press the item button again to expend it early and jump out of the ground, attacking them. This can also affect any items you may have collected in the 8-bit zone, converting them back into 3D models that can bite opponents in the butt.

Retro: Shy Guy Bazaar: Shy Guy Bazaar is a track from Mario Kart 7 with a very unique aesthetic to it. The graphics are generally overhauled to be even more full of detail, with Shy Guys bustling up and down the streets below the track, and a few traveling merchants selling many various goods as well.

1628204464273.png

New: World 1-1: A full-on segment track faithfully recreating the course that is the first level of SMB NES, World 1-1 is a track that pits players in a race to the flag at the end, going through the same course as the Mario Bros., themed after the new 8-Bit Pipe added to the game! There are ramps in which you can jump up to the floating platforms, and a gliding portion of the game where you can choose between going down a pipe and into the underground portion of the level, as well as pitfalls where you can knock other racers down from the sky. As an added bonus, a certain number will appear after you cross the finish line dependent on the height of your racer, almost like when you arrive at the goal. Everything retains a unique voxel-like appearance, and it also adds some extra background details such as the other courses of World 1!

Retro Track
Vanilla Lake 2
This stage is unique due to the large jagged lake in the center which makes the coarse prioritize sharp turns, the same energy is kept but the mid area edge is replaced by a zero gravity section with you having to go on a giant ice halfpipe with freezie acting as constant obstacle, the shallow areas if the lake can also be swimmed in and the main source of item boxes are found there.

images.jpeg

New Track
The Coin Crafting Corporation (of the CCC for short)
The CCC is the place where all the world's coins are created, not just your garden variety coins but also all the world's banana medals and star coins, located in the middle of the ocean ontop of an island this course takes you though the entirety of coin production, meanwhile a holographic toad acts as a tour guide though the establishment.

This is a three part course and like my previous Mini Land suggestion the three parts will be randomized in order, taking you though the gold melting, the molding, and the engraving process. Also depending on the order of the sections will change a few details

The melting process takes place inside a underground furnace, the intense heat and pressure causes steam hazards to spray the halls, the area is mainly a straight line that has a sharp turn in the end, the molten gold cause some of the item boxes and coins to catch on fire and will explode if you collide into those (the afflicted items have a small red glow to them) in the end is a water section where you see buckets of molten gold dipping into the cold water to cool them for molding, these buckets however act as bumper hazards making it more harder to navigate, however you can use a zero gravity area to go around it but the area is slower as a result. On the second lap molten gold will be dumped in the mid section of the area and on the last lap the water section will dry out turning it into a glider section.

The molding area consists of multible spinning circular areas, this area branches out and you can use the boost ramps to go from one area to the next, the circular areas will spin in certain direction (green for left and red for right) and trying to figure out the most optimal path to proceed is the best stategy. On lap two some platforms will turn into bouncy coil springs and on lap three the coins will be removed from the molds making the platforms gain holes as a result.

Finally the engraving area, first it's a uphill area where you have to avoid giant rolls of coins over a large converter belt, then giant pressers will try to crush the racers like thowmp in a straight corridors with sharp turns dotted about, before ending the coins acting as makeshift buzzsaws in the final stretch in a brief straight road. On lap two bouncing coin rolls will be added into the mix as a regular constant obstacle in the course and on the third lap the area is played in reverse.

Funnily enough, your new track idea reminded me of this Supper Mario Broth Post:

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Even though we might never see something like it in a true Mario Kart game, a coin factory is a pretty interesting idea for a track (Especially with how you mention it includes other Marioverse coins like star and banana coins). I really like your idea of each section changing with the laps, too.

Since the robot has a press maybe the press section can use those robots, and each of the three sections are chosen un random order, for example in one playthrough you could go though the mold, engraving, and melting areas in that order or in another playthrough you could go though the melt, mold, and engraving areas, the later areas of this order will also change slightly to be more challenging or distinct, this in the end leads to a possible 6 different configurations for the track

Focusing on original concepts this time.

Scientist Vivian

Vivian wears an unbuttoned lab coat, a pink tie with diagonal white lines, blue gloves that are much thinner than her regular handwear, no hat, her hair in a bun, and safety goggles - though you can only really see the strap due to her hair covering the goggles up. Any fire effects she uses (other than items and exhaust of course) are changed to green smoke in this skin.

Tardigrade Wario

Much like Diddy Krem, this costume completely transforms Wario into another gross yet highly durable creature - the tardigrade. Tardigrade Wario doesn't have eyes or a nose, but does have a mouth and moustache, with the mouth having a slight snout - complete with Wario's traditional grimace. His fingers are pointy but still function like they do in human form, and he has exposed toes - also pointy. Still only 4 limbs unlike water bears themselves though. In terms of clothes he wears the traditional purple overalls but not the yellow shirt, as Tardiwario is yellow all over instead of the beige tardigrades are often depicted to be. This form is also very bumpy.

Also, it seems Diddy Krem has yet to be added to the costumes list, as with Cappy's hats and Birdo colours.

Baron K. Roolenstein (King K. Rool)
Another one of K. Rool's alter-egos. Moving on.

Tuxedo Kong (Donkey Kong)
DK but with a black tuxedo and a comb-over. It's not really based on anything, but DK in a tuxedo would be pretty funny and make for a good costume.

this was way too adorable of an idea not to render in a quick sketch

Mobster Nabbit:
In this costume, Nabbit gets a costume change to look like a 30's mobster. His ears pop out of the hat and he gains a nice tux in addition to the bandanna.

1628447386868.png

King Cappy:
To contrast with Tiara, Cappy here swaps out his usual top hat for a monarch's crown. The gold and red is swapped for silver and blue, and the gems on the crown consist of diamonds, pearls, and sapphires.

Koopa Kid (Bowser Jr)

Was going to go for baby bowser but the modern designs look too similar to bower jr so let's do this character instead, slightly better handling but slightly worse acceleration. As a cult character who hasn't had an apperance in a while we should bring him back.

Kammy Koopa (Kamek)
We have a Paper Mario protagonist up in this, so why not an antagonist? Kammy was Bowser's second in command before Kamek replaced her, and she could've been a mainstay what with how she was in the first game. Kammy Koopa would have slower speed but greater handling than Kamek.

Job 29: Donkey Kong Jr. (Clone of Diddy Kong)

DK Jr. was there from the series's humble beginnings in Super Mario Kart... and never appeared since. (Tour only half-counts since he's 8-bit in that game.) He and Diddy have similar enough proportions/sizes that having him has a clone would only be natural.

Fun Fact: DK Jr. was planned to be playable in Double Dash before being replaced by Diddy Kong, evidenced by early character selection icons in the game's files!
Submitting this again.

I'm reposting this since we now have Pauline and DK, so why not finish the duo

New Racer: Mini Mario
The main character of the mini mario puzzle series, he would bring a unique robot character to the franchise that isnt a mario kart one off like Arcades robo mario and a remix of an already established character like metal mario, he would have high collision, good handling, but sub par acceleration, he is also in mini luigi, mini Pauline, mini peach, and mini dk flavors. With DK and Pualine as racers it only makes sense for the minis to join as well, it just feels right.

New Item Capture Kong
View attachment 316800
His kart would transform into capture kong, a enemy from his games that would capture the minis inside his cannon like apparatus, in transforming into capture kong he would be slightly slower but he gains the ability to launch capture barrels into opponents to trap then inside, to free then you need to mash the button to break free of this predicament. However if hit with an item he gets stunned more.

View attachment 316801
New Stage: Mini Land Plaza
The main setting of Mini Mario's games, mini land would take place in a toy carnival, uniquely their are three routes that the track will cycle though with each lap, but they are in random order so to add some surprises

The first route is in the carnival area filled with happy go lucky toads trying to win mini toys, circus kong another common enemy that tosses minis would act as obstacles in this route acting the same way as they did in the games tossing anyone colliding them unless they get hit by an item which stuns them

The second route takes place in a roller coaster area, the fastest areas are on the side but red and blue shy guy roller coasters will periodically run down these lanes alternating, so a balance of when and not when movie though the hazardous sides is key to proceeding

The last route is the mini toy factories, it is also the most hazardous with weilder fire bros and mechanic shyguys making mini toys constantly, the mini shy guys will chime in the nearest kart and try to latch on to slow them down, while the mini bomb bombs explode on you, also their is a mini but large sized pirahna plant in the middle part of the route that breathes fire. Again these routes will switch their order at random and you go though each route individually in each lap.
Okay reposting once again

Job 50:
Hammer Bro - Hammers

Hammer Bros are the most recognizable elite members of the Koopa Troop. Their Hammer special item works just like in Mario Kart Tour, where you can throw five hammers at once (forwards or backwards). If thrown forwards near an opponent who's close to you, they will lock onto them.

Costume: Fire Bro - Fire Flower

Okay so I know this might be stretching the rules a little bit, but Fire Bros should theoretically have fire attacks rather than hammers, while still being a selectable skin because they are essentially palette swaps appearance-wise. Hope that's okay.

Fawful
No doubt one of the most well-known characters in AlphaDream's Mario & Luigi series, Fawful is a villain of having the furies and the serving of the Cackletta.

Special Item:
Blorb Mushroom:
Upon activation, your kart somehow gets infected by the Blorbs, temporarily bloating to the size of a Bullet Bill. In this state, you roll full-speed ahead and cannot be struck normally, effectively making you unable to spin out. Rolling over other racers flattens them as though they were run over by a Mega Mushroom or while they're under the effects of the Lightning item. However, you have minimal control of where you roll and items that hit you affect your rolling path. After a duration equal to the Bullet Bill, Fawful takes out the Miracle Cure turns his Kart back to normal.
