Zelda's the worst threat

Zelda is easy.

Zelda is a matchup that requires a ton of patience but if you play a specific way, it's like 6/4 Mario's favor. Do not rush that matchup. It will take a long time. You have to play a safe and slow poke game against her.

Lucas and Ness can be annoying, but if you know what you're doing, Mario has better spacing and zoning tools. Mario really doesn't lose in range to those characters, and he's much faster and has better combos and can also kill rather reliably at respectable percents.

PT is easy as long as you don't let Squirtle **** you, and you can gimp Squirtle really easily like the others. N-air him out of his Up-B and edgehog. Ivysaur doesn't stand a chance against Mario's better camping, closeup, and combo options. Charizard is basically a lot like Bowser with most of the associated failures such as huge frame and few safe strategies, and Mario simply can play a lot safer than he can.

Don't be fooled into thinking that low tiers is easy for Mario. You have to be a pro with Mario at all times, but in high level play, I do believe he has across the board favorable matchups in low tiers.

I've beaten SoCal's best Zelda in tournament at the time, 2 stock actually. Wasn't too bad, Mario's Nair goes through Din Fire... and play aggressive, don't spot dodge or air dodge much cause of her long *** hit boxes.

Lucas isn't too bad either, but I think I just have experience vs Lucas on my side xD

@Fromundaman: Don't just say that because ONE Diddy player can beat top MKs that Diddy wins. When lots of top Diddy's beat lots of top MK's then I might agree with you

Lucas isn't bad. But I play Link against both earthbound kids.

I 2-0'd Atomsk's Lucas/Falcon with Link in a Low Tier Tournament back in December.
He said Link is like the Falco of Low Tiers. xD

No, I think MK should be banned for overcentalizing the metagame.

Jiggs doesn't do well against MK, and she's not bottom tier.

Anyone remember the vertical spacing that A2 was talking about awhile back? Well, looks like he was onto something.

I just applied it against Zelda and Bowser, and it does a really good number on them.

and in low tiers, its only hard if ur not taking it srsly and playing to sandbag and being greedy saying mario is king of low tiers cuz u have to play ur hardest to play like it lol

Pierce coined the term vertical spacing before I did, but I've been using fullhops forever for that purpose.

I won't lie, I fullhop more than I short hop.

Looks like I have a new goal besides proving Mario is mid tier. I'm gonna give it my all to reach Boss status. =)

Probably. I played Famous a lot. I won some and I lost some. Did I play you then, or did I leave when you started playing him?

Don't state this as a fact (yet).

It's been widely stated that M2K just sucks at the match-up. One match can't judge everything.

To both of you:

Well, he lost to him twice this tournament, and I heard he'd lost to him in others.

Also, I meant to watch the matches because there is a situation ADHD keeps putting him into in which MK literally has no options. All the top MKs were talking to each other about it after the match as well, and they don't think there's really any unpunishable option MK can do from it, which is why I say that. I put that in the comment as well, and that was the main point, not so much just the outcome.

Finally, I would like to point to Dekar's and Ninjalink's placings as well. When you take into account the sheer number of MKs at this tournament compared to Diddies, then factor in their placings you start to realize there may be something there as well.

Well I'm not saying you're wrong (personally I believe this is going to be similar to Olimar and Snake when they were thought to be counters, but who knows), just that the MK mains need time to learn the MU at this point.

If Diddy becomes a counter for Metaknight, awesome. If not, oh well. But lets give it some time first.

I agree completely. There aren't many really good Diddy Kong to learn it first hand. I can only think of 3 very good Diddy players: ADHD, Ninjalink (if you consider him a Diddy player), and AlphaZealot. I think ADHD is definitely above the other two so it's really ADHD you have a problem with. But all he's proven is that Diddy is amazing. He isn't the best though.

Just came back from a Smashfest.

Cape Jump was incorperated well, same with vertical spacing. I'll have to work on my running shield applications though.

Played Diddy way too much at that Smashfest though, but glad I left a good impression.

I love Halberd. One of my favorite CPs especially in teams. I just go Luigi and kill at like 80%. Too good.
