Im sorry scatz, but I highly disagree, isnt one of the main points of stage selection the match up? I mean, if the most important match ups are better on a specific stage, regardless of how well you do against mid and below tier or how many little shenanigans and stuff you have, the stage that works best AGAINST the best and most important characters is most likely your best.

Delfino basically just has what imma call Dedede syndrome. While against the mid tiers and less broken characters, its really good, just like how D3 with his CG and such shuts down almost all mid tiers and below, but then when you go up against the more popular and good characters in the game, like MK, Falco, etc, he gets ***** and his CG isnt very effective anymore, and straight up just doesnt work sometimes. While yes, the tools Delfino has to offer work really well against the lesser characters, better characters can take advantage of Delfino just as good or better, so in the more popular and important match ups, Lylat is better.

If I were to ask what is the best stage when considering matchups, then yes. That stuff would very easily apply. As for every character in this game, some stages don't work as well as others because other character DO better there than Yoshi. If it's constantly being compared to everyone else or how to give the best chance to win the MU, then how are people going to learn what stages REALLY offer them more abilities to bring out Yoshi's full potential? I want to inform players what helps Yoshi out the most (JUST HIM ALONE), but then tell them that (as obvious as it is) specific, or even multiple, stages work against certain characters. They'll have to actually experiment to find out the best of them.

If you want me to change it, then fine. However, if we go that route, then I'd tell you we REALLY don't have a best stage cause we have to constantly keep switching, which is what I want to avoid cause, frankly, it's annoying to do.

As I said before, I think our best stage should be a stage we can safely take common and top/high tier match ups to, but I digress as I just posted about that.

As for every character in this game, some stages don't work as well as others because other character DO better there than Yoshi. If it's constantly being compared to everyone else or how to give the best chance to win the MU, then how are people going to learn what stages REALLY offer them more abilities to bring out Yoshi's full potential?
Im pretty sure the stages that REALLY offer Yoshi more abilities to bring out his full potential are stages where he has a better chance of winning against good characters like MK and Falco which you see everywhere, and not stages that let you shark the hell out of DKs and Luigis. Sure, we have a lot of cool little perks on Delfino, Ive admitted that and completely agree, but although Delfino is shenanigan city for us, those same things can be used against us, and in high tiered match ups, we stand a much better chance on another stage. When being told which stage is best and practicing to learn how to abuse a stage, would you rather learn to use a stage you can look flashy on or gay out already mediocre characters, or a stage where you have a better chance against characters you actually see at high level and actually improving your chances of winning?

If you want me to change it, then fine. However, if we go that route, then I'd tell you we REALLY don't have a best stage cause we have to constantly keep switching, which is what I want to avoid cause, frankly, it's annoying to do.
You dont need to change anything, our best stage better damn well work in common and top/high tier match ups. Im sorry if this comes across as rude, but it should be blatantly obvious that match ups should be considered when talking stages. Brawl isnt a LETS SEE HOW MANY COOL LITTLE TRICKS I CAN DO game, its a game about beating your opponents. Regardless of how many cool little bells and whistles you have on Delfino, LYLAT IS THE BETTER STAGE FOR ACTUALLY WINNING.

Camp to win, while also doing a thing or two that'll catch someone by surprise. YI:B can work as a contender for one of Yoshi's best stages... at least a bit of room to camp and shenanigans with the platform/slants since Yoshi doesn't do very well on small stages.

W/e. I'm not going to argue this when I'm busy writing the stuff in the series. At any rate, if there's not a general consensus, then I'm just going to skip that section.

And you're not coming off as rude. It's a debate. ****'s how it is.

The other thing is getting short clips about people's setups, but I might do that personally. Anyways to help that part out, what were a few common controller setups that happened throughout the years?

After I get this stuff, then I'll have the first video up probably within 1-2 weeks. Then, I'll be working on the next section of the series.
Not sure how to record me doing things that isn't in a match through replays, but set up is R and X Special B Jump and Tap Jump off.

Let me go into more detail...

When I mean general, this is NOT taking MUs into account. MU issues for just that, for MUs. I want the best stage for Yoshi that allows him to vary his strategy and playstyle (and still be effective). I will note that specific matchups don't particularly favor Yoshi's best stage, but they shouldn't be weighed when I'm looking for it in terms of what the stage offers to ONLY Yoshi.
By this post Yoshi's best stage is definitely Delfino.

Btw, the only real mu you gotta worry about for delfino is MK. All the other characters arent that much of a big deal.

POST REHAUL

I agree with Raptor if we're basing this on opening up Yoshi's options.

If we're basing this on winning tourny matches, FD is our best stage.

Sounds interesting, care to explain a bit on what it is before we see it with our eyes? Or do you want to keep it secret till the video is done.

Anything that helps with our recovery will be incredibly useful, when do you think you'll have the video done by? :D I'd really love to know about this before next weekends tourney if possible. :)

No offense, but as someone who has seen pretty much every Yoshi video on the internet, and every single thread involving a "new tech discovery" that ended up being a basic game mechanic, I encourage you to explain the details of this find to see if it's something we are familiar with before hyping it up and going through the trouble of recording.

As it stands, you risk a lot of wasted effort and disappointed people. I'm wondering if you aren't talking about the DR stage-recovery option.

More or less this, which is why I wanted details out of him before seeing the video.

nah guys ive searched and searched through out every video i could think of and also I havent seen one yoshi use it. and its not a recovery it just helps us get back on the ledge without being edge guarded to death. its basically canceling out any lag when landing plus it gets us to the stage quicker to power sheild or pivot grab or whatever really. its basically a down air cancel. but with the video I just wanted to explain the usefulness of the tech and the correct way to use it.

Watch Slush's video. I'm pretty sure we've known about this.

It's basically a DJC Dair into the ground off a ledge hop, no?

Any aerial from the ledge. (I can barely get it off with Bair I think, it was either can't or sometimes)
But either way, that's about the only thing I can think of, can't be something new....

nah yo, just anywhere you want to land, doesnt have to be from the ledge, no DJ necessary. just simply wherever you land time the start up of your d-air and also use the control stick pushed down and then forward really quick. makes yoshi look like he is in his d-air animation but it just cancels out. but I mean I find it quite useful and if it was already discovered I don't understand y more yoshis wouldnt use it at all!!??!!

Hate to be rude, but just post the video please.
Canceling Dair from a short hop before the attack even comes out I know about, but what do you mean "move forward" quickly?

If you've got the replay file on hand, I (and probably many others) would be happy to record for you. Was it matches or specific tricks you wanted to record?

Specific tricks, problem is the way the video would be done is.... well hard to explain.
Edit text into them, slow down the replay, and play it back with all the text and such into them. I'd need a video editor which I tried to get the past few hours (Pinnacle).

Do you know anyone local that could lend you their recording device for a little while then? If not I might be able to figure something out hopefully, it'd probably involve me or another member here uploading the vids/clips on YouTube and listing them as private or unlisted, and you download them and edit from there. Or you could just buy a capture card. :p

I got Pinnacle with my Dazzle, but I've only learnt the recording basics so far, haven't looked at any of that video editing stuff yet...so I might not be a lot of help there even with advice, but I guess that's where help files come in.

I have a dazzle. Problem is I lost the disc for it who knows when and I had pinnacle installed on my laptop. That crashed and I went to my old 07 tower, that power supply burned out so switched to a family members tower and THAT got constant blue screens from drivers not being installed correctly.
Point is, laptop has serial number I used to get Pinnacle to work on there while my current new laptop/old tower I bought power supply for doesn't have Pinnacle installed.

Oh, right...talk about a hassle.x_x Sorry for misunderstanding you.
I don't like the idea, but you may have to resort to a keygen from YouTube. I'm guessing Pinnacles still downloading?

I literally downloaded Pinnacle three different times, one of them being video spin or something and it didn't work. other two turned out I needed Serial numbers which I didn't have.
