Okay, bear with me here. The idea of Magikarp has been dancing (or rather, splashing) around in my head for two days now, and I just had to get it out.

How Magikarp could work is by simply splashing in place while standing, then splashing to its destination when moving around. It crouches by laying itself flat along the ground and sneaks (it's been shown that characters can move while crouching, and this is what I'm calling it due to Snake) by dragging itself along the ground.
It can jump by smacking its tail on the ground, then double-jump by wagging its tail, seeming to swim upwards.
Its basic attacks consist of tail attacks and tackles, and it can hold items and enemies in its mouth, like Pikachu.

Specials: (these are all moves it can learn in the game, except for its ability)

B: Tackle- a basic thrust of its body forward

<B>: Swift Swim- Swims around charging through enemies, much like Withdraw(Squirtle), Egg Roll(Yoshi), and Wario Chopper(guess who).

B^: Splash- Magikarp's signature attack. it brings its head and tail up, allowing you to tilt the control stick in the direction you want it to go, then slaps them down and travels in that direction. True to the game, this move does absolutely no damage.

Bv: Flail- Similar to DK's Bv, Magikarp flails around in place. Also true to the game, this move does more damage the higher your damage meter is.

Final Smash: Evolution- Again true to the game, the most worthwhile thing Magikarp can do- evolve into Gyarados! Magikarp splashes to the back of the stage, then jumps off. a large flash is seen, and Gyarados appears! It fires a powerful Dragon Rage to wards the stage, and you can direct where the beam is aimed. When it's done, it flies away and a Magikarp randomly jumps up to the stage for you to control.

Fun Stuff:

Taunt: Jumps slightly, wiggles, and shouts, "MAAAAAAAAA-GIKARP!"

Crowd Cheer: Ma! Gi! Karp! Ma! Gi! Karp!

Colors:
Normal(Red Team)
Blue(Blue Team-turns into a purple Gyarados)
Green(Green Team- turns into a green Gyarados)
Gold(Shiny!-turns into ared Gyarados)

Victory: Splashes around (I can't think of anything else)

Why he stands a chance:

When Goldeen comes out of its pokeball, it uses splash. You'd think they'd use Magikarp for that, wouldn't you? But, they didn't.
Secondly, it's known by almost anyone who knows about pokemon. I know it's because it's completely useless, but still, give him credit.
Lastly, first-gen pokemon seem to be abundant in this game. This does give Magikarp a slightly higher chance. Keyword being slightly.

So, tell me what you think. This'll probably go over as well as the idea for the Pokemon Trainer, but look what happened there. (prepares flame shield)

Oh, P.S.: MAGIKARP FOR BRAWL!
Hey! What were you smokin when you made this thread man!? I want some! PWEASE!?

I've done some research into Magikarp and his moves throughout the Pokemon series, and I believe I've come up with the ideal moveset for him/her/it:

A: Splash
A>: Splash
Av: Splash
A^: Splash

B: Splash
B>: Splash
Av: Splash
A^: Splash

etc.

Final Smash:

Splash twice.

MAGIKARP 4 BRAWL!

Wow, just goes to show you can make a moveset for anything.

Except for a coca-cola bottle. Or can you?

Introducing the SiD's coca-cola bottle contest. Take any kind of bottle you like, and make a good moveset for it. I'll pick the winner when I feel like it.

Go!

Coca-cola bottle final smash!

Bottle starts shaking violently, then bursts open, spraying everyone in cola.
the whole level is now wet and everyone keeps slipping all over the place.

CLASSIC BOTTLE COKE

B - Bottlecap - Shoots his bottlecap upwards,

Up B - Sodablast Burst - Points down and shoots forth a stream of coke, rising it up.

Side B - Bottle Dash - Jumps foward a little, while Classic Bottle Coke releases coke.

Down B - Fizzy Bombs - Spins in place, sending out explosive pieces of fizz out of it's top

I'll do A moves later.

I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out but what about when Magikarp finishes his final smash?

It's just not pokemon if he de-evolves.

I think his final smash should be turn into Gyarados for the rest of the game. It could work! Samus turns into Zamus, why not Magikarp to Gyarados? :D

Hes moveset could be;

B; Hyper beam; The longer you hold be the further and more powerful it will be, but like the game ( lose a turn ) this would have lots of lagg.

<B>; Aqua Tail ; Gyarados thrusts his tail forward and a wave of water magically appears ( like squirtles ^B) and the wave travels along the ground or diagonally down in the air ( like pikachu's B ).

^B; Twister ; Gyarados spins around really fast then springs in the direction of the control stick.

vB; Dragon's Rage; Gyarados spins around really fast then suddenly flames spread from his body horizontally.

Probably brawling
USE SPLASH ATTACK! anyway, how would magikarp get in, since pokemon is already over-represented, along with Mario. although Mario is over-represented, a sammer-guy comes before something as godly as magikarp, mayb magikarp for Pokemon trainer's FS?

Okay, please stop talking about coke bottles.
After the Final Smash, a new Magikarp appears for you to control that shares the same damage meter, so you actually control different Magikarps during the match.
It happened in Mario Power Tennis; one of Boo's specials was turning into a Boo Brigade to return the ball.
Whichever Boo returned it was the Boo you controlled, so you controlled different Boos during a tennis match.

You haters have such limited minds to restrict yourselves so much as not to see the brilliance in Magikarp...

For the record, Magikarp would be awesome. :p

Not gonna happen, but it would be fun.

I also like how you basically said for his Final Smash, "The best thing Magikarp can do is... be something else."

LOL, didn't notice that was what I was saying, but yeah, I guess that's pretty funny.
Equinox, Goldeen is already the dud if you check the "What are pokeballs?" update on the Dojo.
By the way, I prefer funny, sarcastic support to all-out flaming. And I would like Lucario in, but this guy could be, as some people said, a replacement for Pichu. Better a joke character with an original moveset than a clone joke character that hurts itself.

I don't find this funny. Obviously Seaking should be in instead of Magikarp.

In that case,
1) You have no sense of humor
2) You don't realize that Magikarp is world-famous for being useless, whereas Seaking doesn't have any notable characteristics at all.
3) You don't realize how awesome a Giant Metal Magikarp would be.

EDIT: Stop comparing my idea to a Coke bottle!

I wasn't comapring the character idea, but saying that we need a joke AT. Like it could splash Coke out of the bottle and if a character touches it they recover 5 damage.

Sorry, KK, but I'm tired of people talking about it here. If people want a Coke bottle so much, they should make their own thread. Though maybe a bottle of Milk from the Zelda games would work as an AT.

Dain, your sig is just plain hilarious. "WTF?!" However, if you don't take the Miis off of there, you'll have to cross out another character...
