Man I got destroyed at my first tournament xD. I didn't even do singles cause I ran out of time and had to leave ><. The Doubles were bad, since I had no coordination with the guy i entered with lol. I played friendlies and did average.

ADHD gave me the business with his Diddy in doubles, as a bunch of other doods.

I played Snakee once, and did OK, even though i lost that too. I had never played a ZSS before that lol. I beat a few spacies.

I saw Magus in Doubles with Luigi, big big props to him. He gave 2 MKs a run for their money at one point, a lot better than i could've done.

The one thing that's evident for me in getting better in tournaments is match ups. The personal experience one person had on a character is critical for a character like Luigi, who has no clear cut gimmick to use on their opponents.

My highlight was in doubles when I got a Double Shoryuken KO xD.

I can give two tips:

1) Use Hyphen Upsmash while charging it into an opponent. A lot of people will not know to keep their shield out and get tricked when you hold it out. Of course it stops to work after a while xD.

2) Jab Grab Games are the biggest variables in fighting someone you don't know. Since you can do so much out of a Jab Grab, you can really mess your opponent up.

I think the biggest rivalry for Luigi in tournaments are Spacies. It seems pretty even based on my limited experience, and Two players of equal skill in Luigi and Spacies don't have clear cut wins.

I don't have results, because i only did doubles xD, and lost BAD. It all boils down to match up experience for me, and that's why I lost a lot to Diddies, MKs, and some others. I held my own in situations where i fought characters that I had some experience with. But going to a tournament and just playing friendlies, I picked up A LOT of stuff based on how people play.

I saw several styles of Bowser for one thing, a character I've never fought a Bowser Main/Second. My misconception that koopacide = win was off though, as I never got killed that way.

For the Luigi Broomers, I used a lot of snap shotting during the tournament, which helped me tremendously. Even watching friendlies teaches you a lot about a guy before you play them.

On a side note...M2K tried to falcon punch my friend in real life xD...that was funny.

I didn't notice you made a thread at one point lol, maybe it's cause I wasn't even thinking about tournaments at that point. I'm hoping eventually i'll get good enough match up info on everyone to be able to hold my own. I'm too much of a theory crafter than an actual player I've noticed xD, I can analyze things pretty well but something screws up during the communication between my brain and fingers.

I'm gonna try to break into the NY scene Hippie, so I can meet up with you somewhere =D. The journey to that tournament was pretty hectic, even though it's only a 20 minute drive. That's what happens when you're too lazy to print out a map and just take a picture of it with your phone on the computer. We had to squint our eyes and figure out where the hell we were. Traversing NY will be like the Odyssey for me.

EDIT: Woah! I just remembered I have footage from my first Brawl tourney when I was still Link. But it was such and intense match. Me vs. my brother, and I was like "let's do 10 stock!". So we did. But the video is all crappy and distorted because someone took it with a cell phone camera. My tourneys are pretty, 'crude' to say the least. 6 TVs, 6 Wii's, 5 Brawl Copies, 1 Melee, endless supply of pizza and Dr. Pepper. Thats it.

I consider the tournaments that I attend somewhat official. We have a pretty solid community, with the same smashers coming to our tournaments and placing around the same.

Unless by official, you mean reknowned players/hosts in the tournament. In that case, **** it XD
