Lol... I'm just joking... But ****, that was a lot of posts since I last checked the boards. I really wanna see how all this pans out...

No one wants to be Shawn's cheerleader?! That's like an honor =D. Man, so when I started going back to the tournies to finally play Shawn, he never came. But now that this new "Felix" guy is money matching, he decides to get up off of his *** =D.

Oh and about Brawl being a competitive game, it's all about how much chance there is in the game. The more control of winning or losing you give to the player, the more experts will be able to control whether they win or lose, I don't care what the ****ing game is. Just because you take out some things that make it harder to control your character doesn't mean it will be less competitive. They are just making it so we don't have to worry so much about having to L-Cancel every time, and instead we can focus on the rest of the game. I mean, we could all play smash with our feet to make it harder, but we're not concerned with how difficult it is to control our character, we're more concerned with matching ideas versus ideas. The controller is just the way we express our ideas, but the person with the best strategy should win.

OK PEOPLE! for real I have asked ALL of my professors for this semester and they have ALL said no. now I'm resorting to trying to remember professors from last semester, emailing them, and seeing if they are willing. Chances are they'll all say no as well. SO PLEASE if you know a professor who you think is willing TELL ME! otherwise we wont get the tech announces out which in result means not only will melee turnouts suck but so will brawl turnouts. REALLY I'm not kidding I need an advisor if we want to do tourneys!

Anyone know if it's legal to post flyers in various places? Know what I'm getting at?

Also, did Fmatt and Sintenal not know who TGL's advisor was?

In order to get somebody to agree to be an advisor, we should probably be able to tell them exactly what the position could entail. I imagine if we search for "advisor" on the student organization website, we could find a job description.

Even so, most professors are long shots for a gaming club. "Evils of video games" generation. TGL's old advisor would easily be the best bet, but if fliers are legal, we could post them in different places or in frequented locations.

I mean, the one time I posted fliers around just my dorm a week in advance of a tournament, I had at least three people stop me and ask me about it. And that's in a three-floor dorm.

If there's no rule against fliers (which might fall somewhat under soliciting), we can circumvent the whole organization thing. And like I said, I posted them in my dorm, and didn't get in trouble with any CA's.

its because it isn't something they are interested in and are afraid that we'll do something to get them in trouble if they dont show up. pretty much the answer from all of them T_T

so yeah its because the university holds them responsible if we do something against the rules which is why they all are saying no, so yeah.


@adam - I guess I could post up flyers in my dorm and people could in theirs but I'd still also like to get the tech announce. fmatt said he didn't know who the advisor was and gave me the guys AIM s/n but every time I have checked hes been away.



edit: I talked to the guy who is president of TGL and he said instead of me starting my thing up he'd just re register TGL. so yeah. hopefully I'll be able to post tech announce next week and have a tourney the 16th at 2pm in the training room!

I remember when he said you were the worst partner ever, and that was with friendly fire off . You just have to learn to dodge everything FMatt shoots. You and Shawn still never got the best of Soup or Salad....good times.....

That's good news, but if we're putting up Tech Announce next week, it would be best to have the tournament on the 23rd (3-day posting delay + 1 week notice.)

Also, drinks and snacks? Or no? If so, that should definitely be part of our announcement.

huh? fmatt always got up the announcements the day before and that always brought the best turnouts. 40+ person turnout was posted on a thursday then the tourney was next day. i plan on getting the announcement up on friday so saturday will get a good turnout. assuming that TGL is started up again in time.


also do people think we should supplement the tech announce by posting flyers in the dorms or something?



I'd be willing to pitch in a few dollars for snacks if we do it but I dont have any way to get to wal mart for the stuff we'd need.

if I can get tech announce up we should get good turnout. I've been bugging the guy to re-register TGL so I can post the announcement so hopefully we'll be able to. he said he wants to talk to the vice pres about it before he does or something and he said he'll talk to him tomorrow. so yea.

I mean if enough people want to just go ahead and do flyers everywhere that works just as well probably its just more effort is all.

tourney will always be the same place. training room in carpenter/wells common building.


I dont want to deal with recording but if someone else wants to they can go ahead.
