Power Rankings aren't allowed at a level lower than "state".
However you could do a few things to get around this...
1. Make your monthlies into ranking battles, giving points out based on where you place.
ex. 1st gets 10 points, 2nd 7, 3rd 5, 4th 3, or you can rearrange the points however you want. That way you're just keeping track of points. No panelists or anything. If someone OOC gets a spot that would get points you can either give them the points and add them to your rankings list or just not give them points to keep it Houston only.
2. You could try to resurrect the Texas Power Rankings I guess... good luck finding panelists with enough knowledge about the Texas scene that still care enough to do one though.

i encourage all people to hold tournies but i do however suggest you look at the area you live in.
3rd ward,5th ward. HIGHLY HIGHLY dangerous. i suggest you hold it other places if these are the places you are thingking.

Its not a power ranking( drew changed me mind). its a point system! This will increase people wanting to get better. points will be given out based on certain accomplishments(explained tonite).
yes we know about the top 5 players.........but what about the other 10? i certainly cant say for sure who is there. but i would like to know. plus, this will(i hope) sprout more fests/tournies/stds to get more points. every bodies ideas are welcome.

With over 45 people who go to tournies and compete, i think houston needs a point system to determin who is better than who. Who ever the has the highest points=best palyer in the area. Magnolia,everybody in the ring of Beltway 8, sugarland, and anybody who is CONSISTANTLY going to houston gatherings will be considered for the project. Do not fight about this, just get better if you do not like your ranking.
Things that will increase your ranking(aka give you points):
MM's/milk matches with higher ranked players= 1 point(if you win)
WHO you beat in tournie(if they are higher than you)=1 point
OOS/OOC people who you beat(majority)=1 point
Tourney placing(1st 2nd 3rd)=1 point
If none of these apply to you, you can still get a point if you win the MAJORITY of the matches with a person who is ranked HIGHER than you. Both players must come tell me or have it written down or have it recorded or something to let me know if it really did happen.

yes, please do. this list will do 2 things. it will cause people to get way better cause they wish to be ahead of X amount of players......it will also weed out the players who suck and dont want to get better.
and just so you guys know, houston has the BIGGEST smash scene in Tx. we have 45+ people who do show up and play on a regular basis, this cannot be said for dallas,austin, or SA. Sadly though, only about 6-7 of us are good enough to hang with the rest of TX's pros=this is why Houston is last on the list of godly cities in Tx.

i think i should rank 20 and work my way up lolz on a side note stiltzskin is a good player and deserves on that list i beat bear and riot a little so i get points???? (thise is just a random idea why not post the names of people who go to these events or compete and just show there points so they are incouraged to go more and compete.... on another nother side note I aksed for nov10 and 11 off and it was approved i'm going to go wit kage or ace whoever ask first i got's gas money...... on another x2 note i main fox god he is omegally awesome.

you beat riot and bear.....very good. now did it fit into a section i set up? you must read the requirments i set up. at my 1st monthlie i beat cave man...........it was 2 matches out of 9 i think.........that does not fit into any requirment i set up...so i cant get a point.
i beat rayzorium in tournie........i can get a point for that....but i wont cause i just started this system.

ok, yes it does seem the weaker players would have an advantage here. but think, yes they will rise in rank and you and roy wont. but thats another reason why u should stay on top of your game. you will always be defending your title of 3rd place.....why? its the price you have to pay for being so good. this creates a balance.. the weaker players have it easier untill they reach the top. and you guys have it hard because they are getting better......but if you consistantly hold your place.....you in turn get better and then become better in the STATE ranking and US ranking. thats something the weakers one cant do.
it balances out.
to be good as you think(and we think) you are, you must hold or surpace where you are. even if that means at every tournie you are at risk of being thrown down a notch....wich isnt the case because a player must reach 8 EXTRA points to be higher than you. thats REALLY hard to do per tournie.
long story short: it causes the good players to keep trying to stay good while it lets the weaker players have a chance to take away the higher persons spot. dont worry alex, they arnt getting thru me.

sorry to ask the obvious but are you going to keep track of everyones points and respective ranks then?? If not there is no way to know when we are playing those of higher rank

I will MM anyone in the 11th through 15th ranking. The lower the ranking the more I am willing to throw down. This is the only way I can build a ranking because I work on weekends usually and therefore miss a ton of tournaments. PM me here or on AIM (omnidistortion) if you wanna.
On that note can I be exempt from the subtracting of points from my record for not appearing at tournaments? That rule doesn't seem very fair for people under my situation unless there were more flexible time frames for the tournaments. They always take place Friday-Sunday, days I work. Now if there were some Monday-Wednesday that would be more like it.

This point system is a good idea. But you know TGM, just 1 point per thing? How do we all have like, over 10 points? Unless that is from many many tournaments. Then i dunno. Let me know though yo. *much rhyming wins*

Anyways, dropping by to say what's up to all my friends (2k5 crew, couple of the newer people). Miss you all, and AM going to try and make it to one of these sometime.

the point think is unfair only if you miss 2 in a row. once you miss 2 fests in a row you will lose your 1st point on the 3rd missed tourney. then your 2nd point on your 4th missed tourney. get it? requestion off days is easy if you do it in advance.

sideffects of playing sideffect might include laughing as he gains no points for winning tourny or pwning u. Heartburn, indegestion , diariha. "Thats why i take anti sideffect to protect against being pwned by sideffect", Sideffect might include death and adiction to anti side effect do not take at any time because it is not real.
