I say yea, I think it'll be a good idea, but they said it was to have BASIC online play, so I guess that removes the possibility. U know how Nintendo can be. -_- If it was possible though, would u approve?

I can see it being useful for team play. Live chat anywhere else would just be filled with smack talk and insults.

I would like it only after a match when you view the results. Or if the person is your friend on a buddy list or something.

I'm assuming this is Live Video Chat?

If so, no. Text or voice chat is enough. I don't need to look at these people while I play 'em.

I'm guessing they would probably will do something like that... I don't think Nintendo will make people call their friends just to see if they wanna Smash... Then again, is there a headset that goes into any of the plug-ins on the Wii???

Live chat on brawl, lets face it, it would just be a swearing contest.

Yes to online play, no to actual chat.

I'd like to see it, be it text or voice. But how would it work? There isn't any Wii-compatible headphones, and writing text with the Wii-mote would be pretty hard during gameplay.

SPJD, you have to remember that the Wii came out 2 months ago and has no online games. Saying that there aren't any headphones yet is kinda....well, moot. Give it time.

And I doubt it'd be typing with a Wii remote. God, I hope not.

Why the hell anybody would want to be dead silent in a game as personal and social as smash is beyond me. If you're dealing with idiots, just block them or take your headphones off. No reason to deprive the game of the feature for that. I'd pretty much refuse to play online without chat.

...not that I actually trust Nintendo with having the competence to input this feature...

...nor do I really intend to play online publically anyway....

I basically agree with everything he said.

**** yes, I'd love that feature. Smash is a very, competitive, fun, and social game. IT IS A PARTY GAME! What kind of party game wouldn't allow you to talk to your pals? If someone is annoying you, ignore them, take off your headsets or something. However, with the lack of voice it really deprives from the game and the experience.

Though... man, I just NIntendo would get the online act ****ing together. My goodness.

After playing Halo 2 online....I say no.

I don't like being talked to when i'm playing fighting games.

Also, you shouldn't have to talk to your team mate to tell him what to do next, true team work and ability should come instinctivly. If you can't think quick enough, then talking would be rendered useless.

There's been thousands of times for ssb64 online where it would've been beneficial to say something, but there's no voice chat. voice chat should be on brawl, with numerous options to turn it off when needed. the chat should go through a seperate channel on your controller or the Wii, so it doesn't come out on your speakers.

Finally! Common sense in this thread.

I think it would be great with any online battle.
I could annoy the people I fight just like I annoy my friends while I play.
Plus, there could always be really AMAZING people online that you could talk to and learn from as you battle them.

Could you be more ignorant? Didn't think so.

Why is the concept of turning off voice chat or putting away your headphones going in one ear and out the other for most of you people? Or are some of you just posting without reading the thread?

Seriously, voice chat would only add to the experience. And if you dislike it, turn it off. That's simple.

Imagine how much more fun a match would be if you, say, played Wes with voice chat. Him and his hilarious obscenities and what not. "EXTEEENDAR!" ****ing hilarious.

gimpy fish makes some cool noises and phrases when you play against him as well

kash is exactly right. if you don't like chat turn it off. if you like chat turn it on. not including it all together is stupid.

Ok this is my idea:

The Wii has 2 usb ports, so decided to use that to make things more easy, u will have a headphone/microphone, this will send a signal to the usb, the usb then, with the connection, will send the verbal message to the receiver(s), thus, if they answer, their usb will do the same, and so on, u get the idea, Im pretty sure X box uses a similair way, if not identical, but well u get the idea...

Tera's never been too fond of 'chat' or any of those online conversation programs lke messenger or AOL. consequently, she's never joined them.

the verdict: no thanks.

Tera253 always talks like that; Devastlian, however, does not.

As in most of the other threads about online, I'm going to stress that voice chat may attract some bad people. People such as those who brag about...assaulting my mailman etc. I just want all those dumb little kids that play Halo 2 and Counter Strike to stay away from my God**** Nintendo.

Sadly, most people do post without reading the thread...but if they did read, I'm sure your point would stand out as a solid one.

Tera has spoken....Huzzah!

Stryks, that's not a bad idea concerning the USB ports. I'm still waiting for them to release some official thoughts on what it's going to be doing....right now it just charges my Ipod (when I feel in a 'I need to have everything look slick' mood).

Keyboard, perhaps?

Online without live chat is ****. Utter ****. You can't type, and not communicating sucks.

If Nintendo is worried about the kiddies, then maybe they should have worried about them before they made the internet, host to millions of message boards that could easily have lurking child predators, not to mention every porn site ever.
