So umm stuff I noticed for Link.

- Link is a bit faster ( Or im I just seeing things)
-Links Down Tilt is a lot faster and it doesnt glow. So I think Dtilt spike is gone. Haven't tried but will see. Right now.
-Links Zair/ Grab is alot longer!
-Links Down throw doesnt go the opposite face he is facing ( which most of us link mains are use to) Instead the opponent goes up..

So yea Thats all I got and plz correct me if im wrong.
Thx and have a good one. :)

Edit: Yup its official Link doesnt have his Down tilt spike anymore... :(

And Link is pretty much better than 1.07 just by like 10 or 5 percent
when I get my Wii U I will battle you first K?

Of course when I develop a good strategy for D-throw, they have to change it. Ugh.

I'm working on finding out everything that has changed, I'll post that sometime tomorrow probably…

The spike in dtilt is still present, I landed it by mistake when I was testing other stuff. However it's very weak I landed it in a WFT at 60% and only went down a distance similar to Mario's height. Actually this is so weak, can we still call it a spike?

For the sake of foxy's sanity
Speaking of which XD...

Patch stuff goes in patch thread; yes there is a patch thread, yes there are threads outside the social thread, in fact there is an entire 'Link boards' if you'd believe me; check the recent posts in it before saying anything patch related at all.

Theory crafting goes in the meta, social or MU threads depending on what it's about, not the patch thread.

The MU's for the new characters will be discussed when there is something worthwhile discussing, no sooner.

The bombsliding write-up is the greatest thing ever. If it doesn't help, you are beyond help.

I guess it's safe to say Link was buffed this time around... I guess there was no more room for nerfs so Sakurai tried something different with Link.

Screw it, I'll just use smash-stick and call it good then. Funny enough I kept getting the hair flip (back toss) fake out more than any other

That's actually what I go for.

my suggestion is to learn the timing for the grab+a bombslide then convert that over to a-stick. A-stick is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Can someone direct me to more bombslide guides? Your At thread is great, Fox, but I cannot for the life of me understand what you're talking about with them. I get that you are trying to make it as neutral of a discription possible because of various controller preferences but I'm just confused.

I can do them all day every day with smash- stick but I really want more reliable tilts. Meeehhhh I tried for hours and got nowhere
Here, watch this. It's how I learned the basic tosses. Still need practice with the more difficult ones, like the reverse bombslide.

Sure, except that the difference between the fake out and non-fake out variations does not have anything to do with holding or 'charging' the second throw input. It's all about the timing. And there's no need to move the joystick along with Link's arm when he throws for the forwards or backwards variations when all it takes is for the joystick to be stationary and pointing in a very specific direction using this method, and in any case there are easier methods anyway using the a-stick. But you know, whatever works for you right? ...

Throw with Z, roll the control stick from forward to up, then flick the c-stick (a) forward for the forward fake-out, (b) up for the up fake-out, or (c) back for the backthrow fake-out. It's not a difficult method, and opens up the most. I use the old DACUS method for the Up and up throw fake-out ones, the method just mentioned for back (and forward when I feel like it).

Here's a list of changes for everyone still confused:
  • Dtilt is now faster, strings better into things (to full hop Uair is a true combo on certain chars on certain percents now without DI). Spike seems to have been made significantly weaker yet.
  • Dthrow now has standard 85% knockback, combos into Utilt and Usmash without DI on certain characters on certain percent.
  • The individual hits of Usmash have suction now, so it connects better.
  • All ledge trickery has been removed, including the bombslide/dash throw slide-off ((this thing), the faster freefall after using Up B near the ledge (this thing), and SAF, SAFCs (this thing). Ledge stuff like that is out in general, i.e. Zelda's love cancel, Samus' missile cancel, Yoshi's egg cancel &c.
  • Link's grab range is longer (according to Zerker out standard / dash grab is now longer than our pivot grab)
  • Link can now block Villager's Bair/Fair with Hylian shield
Things that might have changed (?)
  • Fsmash connecting better on floaties (Rizen's observation, needs corroboration
  • Cooldown after grab miss
Now everyone stop posting the same things over and over, and let's test remaining things. Zelkam will be in shortly to save our lives.

Discuss that **** here!!1!!!!!!

^Don't forget Dthrow now does 6% damage.

I'm trying to play Samus on Allstar hard mode but can't get her to kill. She also is comboed stupid hard. I need to stop using Usmash as it has terrible hitbubbles that miss a lot. I suck with samus.

I do too. Which is weird, since I play Link and they really aren't all that different.

These boards seem to once be in dire need of a good public flogging. Kids thinking they have rights and what not.

@ Lawz. Lawz. I want to lab Ryu as well since I want to pick him up as a main alt. I tried going to the Ryu boards but it gave me a headache due to all the cluttering and mindless spam. Where can we compare/share findings? I really want to improve fast with him since it feels as if he has a lot of potential.

We can PM and collab the data. Unless there's a better way of doing so lol.

Ryu seems to have a pretty decent learning curve, but I think he's gonna wind up being at least mid tier.

I think that mid would be his floor, he has the potential of being high mid easily depending on how he deals with spam. That's the only weakness I see right now.

I agree, though maybe using an aerial focus attack cancel can help him approach on spam since he could effectively "phase" through projectiles.

I think Link plays very differently from Samus. Anyway I beat Allstar on hard with her. That was a pain; she's a combo magnet.
I agree. Just because they try to put up walls doesn't mean they are similar in how they are played. Two very different mindsets

Link's grab buff is a godsend.

And Roy's pretty solid. Been using him all day, trying to get a feel of him. He's got some pretty nice combos. Extremely fun to use too. He's definitely hitting my alt. I used to love him in Melee. The nostalgia's kicking in...

You know what I just realized?

look at this picture
Link is blocking megaman's buzz saw in the trailer

But Link can't shield the thing in the actual game.

^Yes he can. The metal blade is a multi-hit mover that continues forward so the shield blocks most of the hits but once it moves far enough back the blade touches Link's body but not his shield.

With all these buffs that Link is getting, I was considering about main him again.

But something just stopping me from doing so. Might be because his better, more people (and noobs who don't know how to play him) will pick him up, making him less unique to play.

But Link can block Thoron with his shield, which a multi hit move that passes through Link's body.

Hey guys, any Zelda news at E3? I can't seem to find any.

You play against CPUs.
Is that directed to me?

Because if it is, I will have you know I did my test with Thoron in train mode on the 3ds and I am going to test it on my Wii U this afternoon.

Think like this, do you remember that Link's spin once blocked even if you approach him during the animation it does no damage? Well think of Thoron the same. Thoron's hitboxes are like 4 Fox lasers one behind the other and once one hotbox is blocked it doesn't deal damage to the character that blocked it like Link's spin.

Now for the shuriken and saw, they are like Gay's spin. In Gay´s spin even if the first hit is blocked the move will continue to generate hitboxes, I believe this is what happens to the saw. Even if the earlier hitboxes are deflected by the shield it will continue to generate more until it bypasses the shield and reaches Link.

By the way, B pressed Thoron goes through Hylian Shield.

Sony and Bethesda had a really good show today, let's hope Nintendo has something that can match Fallout 4, Doom, FF7, and Shenmue.
Sadly it's not going to be Zelda U. . . .

Ah, that does makes sense.

Though the only problem I see with it is that Robin's Thoron does multi hit damage on normal shields, much like TL's spin attack and other multi hit moves.

I'm so excited for tomorrow, but Nintendo is going to have to surprise big time in order to top Final Fantasy VII, The Last Guardian & Doom 4.

I just meteored a Ryu player hard.

I threw the gale boomerang out and pulled them from off-stage and then unexpectedly meteored them into the side of the stage and they bounced off to their death. I even saved the replay. :^)

9AM Tommorrow
Total silence, then a lone trombone sounds. Samus Aran's theme plays as her HUD turns on. Chasing down a space pirate through a twisted mechnical corridor, rounding a corner, she carefully takes aim at her bounties back. As she's about to release her charge shot, the pirate desperately fires behind him, forcing Samus to dive back behind the wall for cover. The pirate takes off once mashing the button for the door to open, while turning to face Samus and launching another barrage of gunfire. The swooshing sound of the door prompts the pirate to continue to flee, as he turns his head slowly he's met with the sight of a fiery red fist with the power of an imploding star.
A man with a blue racing suit and red helmet stands triumpantly over the unconscious body of the space pirate, Samus walks out from behind cover to confront her rival bounty hunter: a title flashes.

If that were to happen, i'd pretty much lay bricks while running at full speed and yelling from excitement. Here is hoping we get something similar tomorrow.
