I'm wondering about Write with Your Power, it sounds really interesting. I read the stickies, but I'm not sure when it's going on, or even if I could enter now/next time.

The Creative Minds forum is really starting to catch my eye...

I'm wondering about Write with Your Power, it sounds really interesting. I read the stickies, but I'm not sure when it's going on, or even if I could enter now/next time.

They're currently judging WWYP IX (STILL...), and there won't be any more contests until next year. Feel free to post other stuff in the meantime though, as I really think WWYP is on its last legs.

WWYP... Where you have to write stuff according to how other people want you to... I don't see how any would willingly contribute to that. It's like writing essays. Get enough of that as it is.

I've never really been apart of specific Brawl character boards, their either dead or have a grammatical imbalance of serious/fanboy discussion. The Mêlée boards appear to be dead, but it's got to jump start sometime, right?

It's always nice to see some good, friendly discussion in the Pool room and some humor in the Forum games. I tend to have a more cohesive, yet leniant tone when discussing in boards such as these.

GBD, oh mama! (Johnny Bravo FT?) Everyday it's a sloppy mess. It's good that Buzz recently became a mod in the GBD, he seems to immediatly respond to spam that others (or myself) report.

Probably the reason he's so quick with his mod powers is because he frequently posts in the "Ken (Melee World Champion" is on Survivor" thread, which has become my mainly focused thread in SWF! I've been a long time fan of Survivor, and seing "Kenny" (they constantly get his name wrong on the show, lol) perform like he is makes this season all more enjoyable. About 6 weeks ago, that same thread didn't have much serious discussion, mainly "Ken Combo, OMGLAWL" and Ken gifs, but then, we had some good discussion going on. Steeler, Victra, OmegaKoopa, Buzz, SirBedevine, M3D, and others made it into a very entertaining thread (just don't try to post on Thursday night; Every 3 minutes, 11 posts are added to the thread).

Which leads to my curiousity as to why it's in the GBD. It has nothing to do with Brawl. The simple reason is that the GBD is the most popular of sections in SWF. If it was moved to the correct sub-forum, it would probably get less recognition, and we all want people to recognize Ken...

Next is the theme for the GBD being notorious for newbies, n00bs, and spam. Sadly, there are only a few threads worth seing in that sub-forum. Probably Make your move: 3.0, ___ of the ___ Music thread (by roy_owns), and the Ken on Survivor thread. There may be more, but it's just a place to get a good laugh, and realize that people can be this stupid.

Speaking of stupidity, there's actually a social group branching off of the hatred of the typical activity of the GBD, called the Anti-General Brawl Discussion Group. Not to advertise or anything (I'm well aware it's against the rules), but if you don't know me, I'm just a nobody 08'er :'(, I hate exceedingly despise spam and ignorance! A lot!!! So, the AGBDG was formed.

Linking that group, I've also taken a decent study of the social groups. Members may not pay attention to these groups, but it's a great way to poke a little fun with members you already know, and others who share some interesting likes/dislikes. I like that social groups (though not as active) can get some good discussion and connections with others. Fun themes (Llamas FTW), good discussion (AGBDG), a group of people who main the same character (numberous Captain Falcon social groups), it's quite diverse.

Overall, SWF is quite unique. We discuss Smash, life, events, tournaments, social interaction on a daily basis. It's sort of like a place where finding a link with someone is so easy a caveman could do it?

That's honestly part of the problem. No one will post in CM unless it's for WWYP, or in preparation for WWYP. I feel that writing towards a contest exclusively can be a pretty limiting decision for a writer.

But yea if you ever end up in the "Ken (Melee World Champion" is on Survivor" thread while the show is on, on Thursday's (such as tonight), then you can be sure to see about a dozen posts a minute. ^_^
