^Will E3 never come?!
(This looks like an official Nintendo project for the Wii 2 but could be a faked screen shot.)
def it's fake, the desing it's pretty poor, colors are lame to watch, the year says 2011, when 2012 seems like a more realistic date(still, it could be some sort of demo who knows), and the first thing I think about ain't smash, its money... but that dosen't make sense at all right? lol... anyway I doubt it, still, there's only a week left :>

The 'movie prime' lens flare gives the SSB4 screen shot away. It's an easy cool effect on photoshop. There still might be a SSB4 though. One more week 'til E3...

I kinda fail to see how he does...but ok...
Notice the background lines are almost identical, that's from one lens flare filter. It shows that this was photoshopped and not a moving screen shot. So it's probably fake.
Long time no see. How is everyone?
So-so. Good to see you:bee:.

He does and is. He has so many tools and options that learning to fully use his, imho, rivals a top tier. Just that for what ever reason he's not as effective so people are left just using the same 4 ll the time.

@Aerolink & Legan and other Links who care-I won my first Low-tier Tournament yesterday in Iowa. Beat Joker in 2 sets in grandfinals, but I lost to him in winners finals. He CP'd Mario against me in Winners and he destroyed my Link so I had to switch to Bowser until started stomping his Mario, switched to Samus the 4th match in the 2nd set, beat me, finally got to use my Link and took out that Samus.

My question.

How does Link beat Mario? I'd rather fight a slightly above average MetaKnight than a comperable Mario tbh.

First off, a Link must realize that Mario has a variety of tools himself even if they are mediocre. Being Link however you have more than him. Still, Mario has enough tools to develop many different playing styles from user to user making this MU all about adapting. A campy Mario allows you to play with Link's favored playstyle amongs his users, the turtle Link. Outcamp him and beat out his fireballs with bombs and a few Zairs. This will destroy any campy Mario since they are playing to your strongest playstyle. Agressive Marios try to get pass your crap as soon as possible with Shield dashs, cape, and mid range fireballs for pressure. Bomb in hand techs help keep him from getting too close when he goes aggro. Mario's CQC game is better than yours so he will be looking to use it to his advantage. Also, learning your shield options and up close mix ups is vital against aggresive opponents. Jab cancels, Shield jump footstool, pivot grab, etc. These and many more need to be learned to employ a style of unpredictability to help overcome your bad CQC skills. If you insist on camping, make sure you support a constantly mobile type of camping with many projectile mix ups to avoid any patterns. or in other words, think Toon Link. He never stays still while camping. We may not be able to do it as well but hell, we can still do it.

Recovery wise, watch out for cape and FLUDD. Cape should be the easier one to avoid of the two. This is a tactic i have came up with so take it with a grain of salt. I always bomb pull while recovering against Mario. Bomb will counter cape in most situations because if you throw the bomb the moment he goes in close for the cape, he will either be forced to cape to bomb into you to help you, get hit, airdodge and miss his chance, or grab with a aerial. Only the last one can serve as a problem. His two chioces are Nair and Fair. Fair might be too slow to hit you before you can spin attack it but i'm not sure. Nair may be a problem tho.If the Mario managed to cape you and the bomb then that means you allowed him to get too close before you threw the bomb. I don't know what to do against fludd.

Anyway, i'm not sure if i explained it well enough but i hope you get what i am saying here. Marios will vary in playing styles but being a Link, you will mostly encounter agrresive Marios. Adapt to whatever Mario throw at you to beat him. Learn all your CQC mix ups, shield options, and projectile mix ups and combinations to help avoid his aggro play. Bomb in hand style will help with this from time to time. This MU is just two players constantly adapting to one another. The only thing that stays constant is recovery issues against Mario. Learn to avoid this situations with Link type DI and such. BTW, i assume you play a very defensive styled Link, right? Pratically all new Links do except the ones who watched izaw vids first before anything else.

That SJFS sounds pretty neat, is there a Link to that you could give me or a description?
Thanks I'll be here all night.
. I main Wolf so I am familiar with the Dacus and bombslide by messing around with a bomb one day dacusing.

Joker said he literally had to learn a different character because my Link knows Samus too well (and Yoshi, lol all Nebraska has are low tiers), so he had been training his Mario for a while. He knew how to jumpspace his fireballs and only tried to throw me off the ledge basically and cape me. He tried to use the flood but I knew how to deal with that. He'd come inside with dair almost only unless I was vulnerable from the sides.

Basically he played like a jerk :( So I bowsercided him like 90 times.

As far as my play style, I guess I play defensively when I need to, but I'm usually within max-jab range, trying to get them above me so I can uptilt, sd/uptilt, u-smash or bait AD into pivot grab. I love the boomerang and bomb combo. Usually kill by spamming Dair near the ledge or jabrest D/F smash. Usual Link stuff. I should probably use more arrows, and actually use my hookshot, but my Link development has been against a Samus mostly, so Zair is useless, lol. I'm pretty aggro when I need to be, which is about a third of the time.

As far as being a new Link, nah, I've kept up with the Link Meta-game since 2009 or so, I've always wanted to main Link because he's my 2nd favorite video game character of all time, so I've read like everything you guys have had, revised versions of guides and matchup charts, watched a bunch of videos (more than Wolf vids, lol). I'll play Link in tournament against Scrubs, ya know.

However, it's just that I'm from Nebraska and this is only the 3rd Low Tier tournament I've been to, I won LT doubles at the first one with a guy who mains Yoshi, and at UMK3 I lost to Holmes and AeroLink, got 4th in the process, where I watched BOTH of those guys play the next day at the real tournament too, and then this one where I went 15 rounds with Joker. Whenever I see Legan at a tournament, I flag him down and beg him to play a set of Link dittos with me, and quite frankly, I think he sandbags me or isn't very good at 5:30 in the morning because I'm ahead in the series.

I never get to play Link in a serious setting so this was my first opportunity to have a serious question on a matchup based on actual competition. I don't think I'm as good as that hype made me sound, but I have a lot of enthusiasm about Link, especially after doing well against everyone but Jokers Mario.

Hi MegaRobMan

A few tips:
Mario's cape will never move Link's Zair/tether recoveries/grabs; he will take damage but no flip or hitstun so Zair/tether is great for recovering vs Mario.

Link has better range and sword reach and all his standard attacks eat fireballs. Mario's faster and better close; Link must maintain good spacing first priority.

We out spam Mario, keep moving and spamming, Mario is forced to approach. Don't stay in the same spot.

Landing cancel air attacks like Nair/Zair/Bair/Fair into jabs or Utilt but don't use laggy attacks unless you're sure to hit. Mario's grabs and Fsmash are mean punishers.

Ftilt and backwards Utilt eat SH fireball approaches and cut Mario down if you're grounded.

Nair starts frame 6, eats fireballs to the sides and under Link for 21 strait frames, landing cancels and beats many air approaches and juggling attempts.
NAir:

'Hope that helps.

Wish I could remember Link's frame data, most of the time with characters I remember what is slower and faster off experience.

So I've been playing through Final Fantasy 13 recently over the summer. I figure if we got my brother it and a PS3 a couple years ago for Christmas, and the PS3 has like 5 hours of total gameplay on it, then screw it, I'm going to actually get some enjoyment out of our $599 paperweight. I've actually been really impressed with it lately; normally I'm not a huge fan of that kind of setting the game takes place in and thought they might have gotten too cute with the game mechanics, but I really like the characters, music, graphics, and was totally surprised with how much I love the battle system, which was what I thought I would really hate about it.

Also, what am I still doing up at 12:45 when I have to wake up at 6:30 to get to work at 8:00? I'm dumb! FUUUUUUU-

FFXIII is better than people first think; it does break the expected FF mold but pulls through in other ways. I borrowed a ps3 and played it a while back.
