That reasoning isn't the same reasoning that got Roy added though. New characters can get in if they're clones or low-effort (or Pokemon(or DLC)), otherwise they won't get in.

Bowser Jr's cannonballs spin while they're shot now vs. going in a straight line like in 4.

It would be nice if he used is blunderbuss to dash in some way like in DKC2

Some of us are guessing that it's to make it different from K. Rool's blunderbuss move, which will likely act like Bowser Jr.'s cannonball did back in Smash 4.
If this were reaching any further you'd be playable in ARMS.

While it certainly is reaching, it's a pointless change to his canonballs... in SMB3 the canon balls travel in a straight line similar to how his canonball trajectory worked in Smash 4. Now all of the sudden his canonballs move in the this wierd gyrating way..... it certainly looks like they added this in order to differentiate between his and another canonball attack. The only other character who'd be using a canonball attack would be K. Rool.

Yeah we're just pointing out the bizarre and strangeness to it. Pretty much everyone's moves have remained untouched or toned down if changed. Why all of a sudden would they make this move far more dramatic for seemingly no reason.

Everything has been discussed to death already, what would you like us to discuss instead?

I can't think of other characters in the speculation scene that use cannonballs, it's not an unfair connection to make.

This is off-topic, but I had some free time today and got bored, so I made this basic King K. Rool for Smash image. Thought I might start making more images like this to Tweet to Sakurai haha.

There seems to be a serious emphasise on the phrase "Everyone is here", Sakurai brings it up again in that Famitsu article.
If K rool isn't included under "Everyone", I feel there's going to be major fan backlash this time round.

The Everyone is here is specifically about every veteran character. that doesn't mean anyone more than that.

but yeah I see fan service characters being more likely this time purely because we don't have much options for characters left at this point.
but in general I'm leaning more towards the fan favorites that Sakurai has acknowledged in the past. K.rool being one of them!

I'm pretty sure the "Everyone" was referring to all past fighters

If costumes deconfirm a character since they are just transferring assets, I guess Inklings won't be playable

I was referring to the Mii Costume in a good way..... we've been mentioning it meaning more... they would use the assets to make a model for K. Rool.....

You sure they can do that? How do you think it works making a model for a character from a Mii Costume?
Maybe Sakurai HAD a model they made for K Rool and the costume is based on it. But they didn't add him for some reason

If you say so.

Anyway, I believe K. Rool was a runner up for the ballot somewhere behind Bayonetta, if she really did win the ballot, and she and Corrin were chosen as playable characters around, say, six months before the ballot ended, if I recall correctly. Maybe that is why K. Rool was in as a costume rather than a playable character by the time the ballot ended? Just saying.

On the subject of relevance, you know who else has been missing for an extremely long time?

This doesn't count the ports and remakes. It took 23 years for him to make his return to the Mario games, and he's a side villain.

Ten years of absence is nothing compared to this guy. It helps that King K. Rool had many more appearances.

I don't think they were looking who got first place in the ballot. I think they had a set amount of criteria and picked a popular character who fit it.
Bayonetta probably wasn't the top picked choice, just the choice that matched what they wanted to add.

If you say so. What I said was just a guess anyways. Still, they probably did make that Mii Costume for K. Rool to show how well he did in the ballot, huh?

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but I think that a simple approach to making K. Rool "unique" would be to make him the biggest and heaviest fighter and give him armor on almost every one of his moves. Similar to Broly in DBFZ. Also, what are people's ideas for a K. Rool final smash that is quick and snappy like Sakurai would want it to be? Only idea I have is the big laser gun on K. Rool's mechanical island.

I think we sometimes focus too much on the potential repurposing of the assets of the Mii costume. I don't think it took them that long to make it in the first place -- they made several mii costumes. Don't think the biggest issue for getting a character working is the model. And I actually think if we do see K. Rool in Ultimate, I wouldn't be surprised to see him use new assets, even if it's still based on the Rare design.

The thing that matters is that we got the costume at all, when we got the costume, and that we have good reason to think K. Rool was one of the most requested characters around the time the design plan was initiated, thus suggesting the mii costume is a corroboration of that.

What about the cannonballs from Donkey Kong Country 1's final boss fight?

I don't think a character should be heavier than Bowser

It's hard to say what the costume means. I'm doubtful it means "they were already developing K. Rool for Ultimate and borrowed some assets for the costume." Maybe it was an attempt to see how the classic design would translate in modern HD. Maybe Sakurai was already thinking about him in the back of his mind and thought it would be a nice prelude of what's to come. Maybe they were halfway on K. Rool as a fighter in the game, decided he was too much work, and used what they had for a costume. Maybe they just didn't think the Paon design popped out enough.

I think it can only mean good things. The only piece of Donkey Kong-related DLC was a costume of a highly requested character with a design that hasn't been used for the better part of two decades. Let's keep hope alive.

The Kredits would still work. It's a little cinematic anyway, but it would probably have to go faster now.

But the Blast O Matic also seems like it fits more into the mold that we have seen. Maybe you could aim it like Giga Bowser can aim the punch.

Actually geno is a better against relevance

Sakurai actually wants him as a playable he highly considered him in both brawl and smash 4

And he hasn't appeared for 20 years if sakurai wants him how is relevance a factor?

I suspect K. Rool would be the second heaviest fighter. I think Bowser will remain unseated.
