yeah i'll let you know.

i posted about it in the apex thread but long story short a year ago a guy who was my best friend at the time wasn't able to make it to apex 2012 and i was really sad about that (we really wanted to go dual ness in dubs), but then on the first night of the tourney he surprised me by showing up at my hotel despite knowing he missed reg and wouldn't be able to enter the tourney. i was happy beyond description to be with him at what was the best weekend of my life and we spent pretty much every waking moment together. we walked around in our ness costumes and were in the apex 2012 montage video and stuff

after we got back we finally owned up to being in love with each other, but he left me a month ago and i've never been hurt this badly in a breakup before (and i've been through a lot of them :ohwell: ). he cares about me and wants us to be friends but i don't think i can do it, i don't even consider him a friend anymore

so idk what's going to happen in the next few months if we're still teaming or what

i'll see what happens

Why'd he break up with you (rhetorical questions, no need to answer)? From your side of the story, you guys seemed to have gotten together the right way, what would've made him want to stop the relationship?

If he's asking you to be his teammate for Apex '13, just politely say no. You know he hurt you pretty bad, you're not going to have much fun with him anymore, you're gonna have lots of awkward quiet moments, and inevitable the question about what happened back then will be brought up and make it into an even more awkward situation. You guys can be "just friends", but being anything more than that will be pretty tough. 'Best friends', 'like family', whatever, I highly doubt it.

I say join up with someone else for Apex '13. I know it sucks, but you should be looking out for your own fun moreso than looking out for other peoples' fun in such events (in a healthy way, of course).

Thanks for the couple of Birthday wishes guys!

I'm not sure where Jowii wondered off to. I was under the impression he got bored of smash. Moved on to other games or something. No idea. He could be like me and just lurk a lot and still play the game. Come back Jowii. Troll people all day like old times...

Granted NEO's for Apex 2012 was 1000x better, but it was still good too! XD

GGs MikeKirby. The last 4 games that were Kirby with the ":D" and "Dream" tag were me, the rest were my brother. XD

Also... TEACH ME HOW TO RECOVER! I was doing fine on the ground, but I got ***** in the air. XD

Don't worry btw, that wasn't really a ragequit, I lost anyway and I played two games too many (cause my family's gotta go out, but I didn't want to quit playing so early since I never got to play you before, so I played two extra games XD) and since I was dead anyway, quitting out was just faster. XD

Now I know what Bonk meant when you have Chu-like patience, those comebacks game 1 and 4 were pretty good. Btw that Up-B out of Inhale is **** on Dedede, but be careful cause Dedede can shield it and get a free punish, so don't do it too many times. Dunno if Kirby can shield before you Up-B, I didn't remember at the time of the matches (my brother was talking to me a little, so I wasn't focused as I normally I am). XD

Haha! When I saw the "Dream" tag. A bulb went of in my head. I even smiled at the thought. :)

You know B0NK??? He's an awesome fellow! I've never seen an up-B out of inhale in the Kirby ditto. I never really tried it but after seeing you do it,wi-fi or not, I'll mix it in. :bee: I started shielding when I noticed you doing it. Shielding it works but I mean it was wi-fi so I'm not sure. Your Kirby seems very Meta-Knight-esque. It's been a sooo long since I played a MK. Was that yours?

Nah, any character that wasn't Kirby was my brother. I use Green MK. XD

Yeah, I know Bonk, he actually lives in VA, but goes to school in NY I think. Also just wondering, what do you mean by my Kirby is MK-esque? Like I have MK habits? I know I sometimes try to use Kirby's fair like MK's fair, they're similar in the sense that they have three hits, but unfortunately Kirby's is much more laggy and doesn't have transcending priority like MK's. ;_;

Also, I remember I was playing a tourney set once and I think Taj (not the Melee Mewtwo Taj, he's an MK from MD/VA) said I play Kirby "weird". He was like "Poyo plays so aggro." or something along those lines, I also remember hearing "weird", but of course I was focusing more on my tourney set than people talking, so my memory maybe inaccurate when it comes to that. In the Kirby ditto, I'm not exactly aggro, but I know I need to work on my patience, my brother was telling me that as well.

Also yeah... I'm STILL home, things are going slower than I expected. XD

Btw, PLEASE tell me how to beat my brother! I think he only won 3 games out of like 10-15 games. I have a severe mental block against my brother making him very threatening to me in tourney if I have to play him (which I did a few months ago), so can you PLEASE tell me how to beat him? o,o

We're discussing Legends of the Hidden Temple (among other 90's stuff which came too early for Vynil) over in the PikaGD if you care to join us.
Nah I can't go to a random characters board that I don't care about. I'm not gonna be "that guy". Thanks tho.

I didn't know you had a brother, Poyo! What name does he go enter as in tournies? What characters does he play? The most noticeable ones were Jiggs and MK.

As far as beating him, well, I noticed he liked to be in the air a lot. So I had to stop flinching thinking he was going to land in front of me. He liked to bait out things with his air jumps and use them to land safely. So I boldly had to follow him and hit him out of his second jump. He also seemed to like to weave in and out with attacks. I used a well placed running U-smash (cause he crouches at the start up) vs Jiggs in some instances. He liked to shield grab. I just used landing inhales, empty well spaced landings to turn-around grabs and stall-then-fall moves like hammer, which worked pretty well. He had little habits that he recycled every so often. In general seemed to like to wall you. Ex. Jiggs b-air/Pound, MK F-air/D-air That kind of play style can aggravate people and that is where patience is a virtue to Kirby. Just running in would get you punished hard. You have to calm down, space yourself and find the little opening in that little pattern. Also, once you get the stock lead he seems to get very aggro but if you can evade the kill moves while punishing them you've got the match. I can't believe I was pretty bad at SDI-ing Jigg's D-air to rest though! Hah!

By MK-esque I mean that you use Kirby's moves in a way that a MK would use him; mainly *your N-air (and F-air). You liked to retaliate with that move a lot after a short launch. It was the weirdest thing I noticed! That actually caught me off guard a lot, hah! But once I noticed that I just started shielding it and tossing you back up where you had a lot of trouble. You seemed to want to forcefully go through me when trying to land. This is one of Kirby's worst positions to be in—directly above someone. Stone can be telegraphed, and d-air's start-up is tremendous. You're better of trying to jump away and try landing spacing yourself around your opponent. When you use your F-air use it directly after your short hop to avoid any landing lag rather than fast falling it half way through the move. That should help you not get so punished by using it. Overall, patience with Kirby is a virtue.

I should have known your brother had Kirby experience! He played like he knew the match-up. :)

Yeah, his mains are MK and Jiggs. He enters tourneys as "Serynder". Yeah, I noticed that about getting a solid lead = usually beating him. Yeah, I use fair and nair more than most Kirbys, probably cause of my MK habits. XD Yeah, I need to work on my recovering spacing, it's terrible, but my ground/stage spacing is good.

Yeah, my brother knows the Kirby MU (which is actually weird cause we don't play THAT much, like I said before, I'm scared to friendly him cause I don't want him to download me/**** me in tourney). Also tbh, I don't think Jiggs should ever get dair to Rest. I remember I used to get hit by it (because I have bad reaction time) but when I started reacting more, SDIing out of it was pretty easy. I looked at her file in PSA as well and it has an SDI Multiplier of 1.2 (the normal for most moves is 1.0, but a lot of multi-hit moves have SDI Multipliers higher than 1.0, like Pikachu's d-smash also has 1.2 which is why SDI'ing out of it is so easy. Although Zelda's u-smash and f-smash have like 0.5 SDI Multipliers, her nair actually has a 0 SDI Multiplier O.o). So yeah, I don't think dair to Rest should ever work as long as you react to it. I think the most Jiggs might be able to get his dair to dash attack if you SDI away? Not sure though.

But anyway yeah, thanks for the recovering advice, it's simple but it makes me think. As everyone says, the simple advice IS the best advice! Hopefully that and the other advice will help me beat my brother if I ever do have the misfortune of playing him in tourney again. XD

PSA is Project Smash Attacks.

It's a program used to hack chararacters' movesets, but only the actions their moves do, doesn't let you see their animations, you need BrawlBox and the character's FitMotionPac (animation file). PSA just hacks the Fit(Charactername).pac file (the file containing the character's moves), but with this, you can see what frames attacks come out on (although smashes have three animations, the charging, starting and attacking animations, and PSA doesn't say how long the starting animation is, so you have to figure out how many frames that is by looking at the animation file in BrawlBox then PSA's frame data on the attacking animation to find out accurate frame data for smashes), invicibility, other scripts, etc. come out on.

And of course as stated above, PSA lets you hack characters and I'm actually working on a little project right now. And yes, Kirby boards, I AM hacking Kirby. ;D

It's a pretty swagged out tool. And if you're curious, the looping hitboxes on Pit's nair have a 1.4 SDI Multiplier and his uair (looping and final hitboxes) have a 1.3 SDI Multiplier. XD

Why would I want to help out Mario players when they're giving away free Slurpiees at 7-Eleven today?

Because I have more interest in milkshakes than slurpees and it could help us see further more into each than the outdated version of our doubles thread. I just don't know what capabilities kirby can do in doubles other than describing he's incredibly well. :D

Does copies give us a greater advantage? Does it apply to all characters?
What combination techniques can we discover and how can it be useful?

That stuff.

Yeah but...it's Mario. Nobody cares.

Maybe if it wasn't a useless teammate it would take precedence over 7-11.
