I think she doesn't have much presence there yet. Understandable, as only one game has made it there till date.

Shantae was a left-fielder suggestion as far as I'm concerned. I never knew she existed until sometime after Shovel Knight was brought up to be in Smash. She seems very likely, but I can't help thinking how many other characters would just fit better to me. "Interesting" is the word I'd choose for her playable role.

Changing the subject briefly, but after doing further research into the absence of the Movie List, I found out this ONLY applies to the Americas, and not to the Asia-Pacific or Europe versions of the Movie List. Based on my findings, I'd assume it's just a glitch.

Yeah, perhaps, but Shovel Knight hasn't had his game released in Japan yet (which makes me question why he's on a Japanese poll) while Shantae is getting her most recent game (Pirate's Curse) released in Japan (which makes me question why she's not on that Japanese poll).

Probably him getting an amiibo, if I had to guess. That's a big achievement.

Arle Nadja/Puyo Puyo is mid-tier in popularity as a gaming franchise in Japan; it sells enough for Sega to continue making games but it never tops in sales - quite similar to how Ace Attorney is seen in the West. Most Japanese fans know about Arle, but knowing a character =/= being a supporter. So yeah, twisting of facts.

Wow... I can't believe we're finally here, at the end of the tunnel. It's both exciting and scary to think about the results. I mean, it could really be anyone's game, at this point! The extra character slot gives me a little more hope, but I'm still nervous about K. Rool's chances....

And Half-Genie Hero will be, too. It's no coincidence that both Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero have actually been made by the Japanese company Inti Creates, in conjunction with her creators at WayForward.

It's not really an achievement at all, to be fair - they weren't granted it somehow. Shovel Knight's creators simply paid to license the Amiibo technology and trademarks and arranged the manufacture themselves, in much the same fashion as they've had other Shovel Knight merchandise created to sell, such as the plush from WeLoveFine or the shirt, badges, and prints from Fangamer.

The fanbases really aren't all that different, in the end. I don't get why people project like that onto them, either.

I'm sure that, over in Japan right now, some people are having exactly the same conversation about projecting such things onto Western fans, as well.
