It's the same guy from the Wolf thread again... he doesn't think that popularity matters at all in the ballot. The only characters he thinks that are likely are Wolf, Paper Mario and either Rayman or Bomberman.

I want the Blast-O-Matic to be his Final Smash, so, I'd prefer to have the Gangplank Galleon as his home stage (if he even get one;... I mean, we don't know how they'll treat a newcomer from a previously introduced series in the game; maybe they'll just add the character with his respective trophies);

Having a fight in the ship, while using his Final Smash would feel be even more accurate, considering that both would be in the same sea (but far away of each other); =)

K. Rool isn't only one whose chances he seems to underestimate, he outright said that Isaac and Bandana Dee won't happen.

So I'm working on a bunch of sound effects/taunts/sayings King K. Rool would do. I made this first using a rendition of his Donkey Kong Country T.V. Show crazy/fast paced talking, and his Dark and nasty DK 64 Boss voice. The rest was just myself wanting him to be more psychotic. http://vocaroo.com/i/s14ew9NMGuFz

But now I'm going to work on what it would sound like for hits/jabs/taunts/specials/ exc... Using mostly his older games as inspiration.

I LOVE how it looks like his costume points that Sakurai favors the RARE design for he looks more menacing and not a overly bright Mario villain.

DKC 2 was pretty damn dark, and needs to have that feeling from a boss. DK 64 seemed a bit dark as well. Compared to most games from Nintendo haha.

Well we have to be honest with ourselves: Lucina only got in because of popularity. Out of the four FE characters playable at launch, she's the one that could easily have been swapped for anybody else.

Certain characters have very vocal fanbases that seem to think they need to put down other characters in order to bring their own up, which makes being around them unpleasant (even if I support them). Also the "popularity alone" argument is silly. Sakurai has said characters considered for inclusion in Smash need to have their first appearance in a video game. I know we like to say "Sakurai works in mysterious ways," but there's a limit to his trollishess. If everyone started voted for George Washington and he came out the obvious 1st place winner, it wouldn't mean anything. Let's not be obtuse.

I feel like this is part of the reason we get new people all the time. I think this thread and its community has a way of endearing the King to new potential Kutthroats by being a non toxic place to hang out and discuss K. Rool and the Smash Ballot. I won't lie, sometimes some of our members feel hurt and want to lash out at others, but we are quick to take care of our own and make sure we are at a higher standard.

Which is a pretty great thing, especially with many others (not pointing fingers) look at the Mii Costume as a way to put down Rool and potentially siphon his massive fan base, but the Kutthroats shook it off and continued kampaigning as they always did, and that's the kind of dedication that WILL put K. Rool in Smash, as a fully featured playable character. Even if he isn't in, I still think we achieved a great victory. It helps that our goals are numerous and more broad. We brought K. Rool back from the brink of obscurity, Retro has let us know that they realize we want him and the Kremlings back, and Sakurai & co. recognize K. Rool enough to make a (pretty damn fine) costume for him 2 months before the ballot even ends.

I'm here until the Gangplank Galleon either sinks or makes port.

In the possibility that K. Rool doesn't make it, I can only see three outcomes:

-Wolf will be picked as the ballot "winner" and that will be that.

Not going to happen. The fan outrage would be too much, and Nintendo knows it (because they have the ballot results). Putting in a chance to get new characters and then giving everyone a repeat would burn too much good will.

If they had not already released Lucas, Roy, and Mewtwo, Wolf might be a believable ballot winner. But at this point, everyone would think Wolf was planned from the beginning and the ballot didn't matter, which would be terrible for PR.

-Sakurai will just look at the top 25 or so and play favorites again.

Yes and no. This is almost certainly what will happen, but not in the way you expect.

The "Top 25" idea is ridiculous. Let's say that the top two each have a million votes, and the next twenty three all have a hundred apiece. "Oh, they're Top 25, we'll still look at them". Not going to happen. Position on the ballot will mean nothing next to number of votes total. If there are a couple of close runners up, Sakurai might choose them over K. Rool. But they'd have to be close in terms of number of votes, and there aren't many who can claim that status.

Even fewer once we start factoring in eligibility (aka: Shovel Knight won't get in because he's never been released in Japan).

-The ballot won't be used at all for DLC and saved for future titles.

Also not going to happen, as that was what they created the ballot for. Again, fan feedback. You don't create something like that, let fans believe it's for DLC, then cancel it. They will announce a DLC character as a ballot winner.

Yes but this is the ballot. He said from now on all DLC will be fanservice. The only people who really vote on the ballot are dedicated fans who know that voting for someone like Shrek is stupid and will never happen (unless Sakurai pulls some bull****). King K. Rool is very requested and is a fan favorite. There is a chance that King K. Rool won't get in, but that chance is pretty small and if your saying someone like Paper Mario is a more likely choice, I'm going to think that person is delusional.

edit - I have nothing against Paper Mario, I just think he's a lot less likely than King K. Rool going by Sakurai's previous statements.

To be fair, some K. Rool fans do trash talk other characters. We try to get people to calm down when it happens, but it does happen on occasion.

I like this analysis, but I think there's another wrinkle to throw in...vote percentage. There are going to be millions of votes cast by the time this is done, and yet the top characters probably won't have more than tens of thousands of votes. No matter what, the vast majority of fans won't be upset if the top characters aren't chosen and favorites are played instead, knowledge that very well may be used to justify playing favorites. Hopefully this doesn't happen...if Sakurai didn't go out and talk about fan service," it would be so much easier to take disappointment this time around.

You're right. Okay, let's see what I can think of:

Playtonic recently confirmed the gold belly is simply armor. We can say the moobs and outie belly button are just weird designs in his armor and underneath is just normal crocodile scale belly. They won't know the difference.

I would ask you to ignore the fact that DKC1 Klump had nipples, the only Kremling I know that has them so I question his species.
