I don't see why people care about who attacks what character. I said it before, I'll say it again. I'm not going to act like I'm a saint over here. I just don't want Dixie in unless King K Rool is revealed. Hell, even after that, I still really wouldn't care to see her in. I'd almost rather have Cranky right after.

I don't see it as a war. I don't see it as belittling. I just don't see the point of making things so personal either. I'm a supporter of Waluigi, Paper Mario, and Pac-Man. Those three get shot down all the time, regardless of the fact they could be unique inclusions. Still don't need to get hurt over it.

That's just me though. My two biggest newcomers I want to make it in and would absolutely hate if they didn't is King K.Rool, and Tetra.

The kremlings just look so right in the DKC world. I don't know what it is. Especially when expanded () to be wider so that they fit the Retro standard of "this character has to be appealing to stomp on."

Retro's DKCs are awesome, just need some reptiles! =P... When the next DKC game was announced (eventually), it needs to have at least a small Klaptrap. :\/

There is a theory that the next game will bring back the kremlings, which I think would be practically confirmed by K. Rool being in Smash. It may sound like a silly prediction, but every Retro game has totally new villains, and K. Rool has as of yet not been in a Retro DKC game. If he was in Smash 4, it'd be an excellent way of hyping up the character for the second DKCR sequel. Although I'm sure I'm just stating what everyone wants to happen in this thread.

Since I got Tropical Freeze, I have been looking for any references to K. Rool or the Kremlings. Nothing yet.

Great track. I'm not usually into big guitar pieces, but Retro / David Wise have been able to channel the 90's with this and the bear's theme.

I believed when I first saw Lord Fererick that he hurt K. Rool's chances, but maybe not. It may be the opposite of what I initially thought, if the idea was to pay homage to K. Rool without going back on their modus operandi of creating all-new villains. I can respect that philosophy, and it gives some hope for K. Rool. You also have to give credit where it's due for the other villains in Tropical Freeze who are just as good as the DKC2 or DKC3 bosses in terms of personality and fitting those venerable stereotypes. This game is where Retro got their hands firmly on the reins.

If only I could afford a Wii U.

If this new boss pays homage to K.Rool, that's already a great start. Not sure if this means Kremlings next time, but they reused some of the Tiki enemies as new enemies, so they could do the same with the Vikings and Kremlings.

Seems I need to buy a Wii U.

I've been enjoying Tropical Freeze and it's a game that I so far recommend (I've only been in three worlds).

The music is amazing, the graphics are wonderful, and I am enjoying the gameplay. However, the best partner is by far Dixie Kong; her double jump is incredibly useful and her Kong Pound is the only one that truly matters (it gives you extra hits by transforming enemies into Golden Hearts). Also, the bosses are a joke and the game is kind on the lives and Banana Coins (I've maxed out on both).

While I still miss K. Rool and the Kremlings, I have hope that they will return. Tropical Freeze and Super Mario 3D World are games that I recommend getting if you want a Wii U.

I never really used the Kong Pow. I hate how it breaks the flow of the game and I haven't found much of a use for it. I've used it in the 3rd K level because I just would really hate it to lose Dixie and make the platforming harder for me to do (still possible, but harder). So… I use it when it's situational.
I am expecting this game to get hard later on. Donkey Kong Country games are typically like that… *shivers*

Yeah, Retro did an amazing job with this game so far. I just don't understand why the Kremlings are still absent.

EDIT: Oh, and thank god that the Minecart and Rocketbarrel levels now give you an extra hit. That makes those levels less frustrating… I was never a fan of the Minecart levels in particular.

I don't have Tropical Freeze yet, but can someone who does please clarify something to me?

I read over on DKVine that one of the concept art photos features non-Kremling crocodiles as part of a scrapped level design in the Bright Savannah world. I'd be interested to see it, not that I think it means much one way or the other (it's kind of like a recreated scene from Lion King 2, actually).

Someone else is gonna post a pic before I can, so I'll just say, that fat silhouetted figure some (futilely idealistic) people were speculating could be K. Rool wearing a full-body costume about a month ago due to the physical similarities he shares with the King (which led some of us, myself included, to nickname him Diet K. Rool).

I think, if any borrowing is gonna happen, it'll be from K. Rool's other costumes before Fredrik; they're still considered his brothers over in Japan, right?

Walhalla the Walnorse, in full. I'm the one that started that, as a placeholder name before the official name was revealed.

I continue to be pleased that Walhalla has wormed its way into the Kutthroat zeitgeist as it has.

I don't know, I'm just stubborn when it comes to some franchises, I mean I respect Retro in coming up with new villains but when you take away a fan nostalgia such as the kremlings, it's just not the same. I mean look at the Mario games, if I recall aside from super mario bros. 2, they've all have had goombas and koopas in them but still threw in new enemies as well(the bullies, amp, thwomps,whomps, etc.) The least retro could do are still have the kremlings but keep their tikis and vikings as extra enemies as well. And for me King K. Rool must be the main villain in them, it does'nt have to be the same story line with him always stealing dk's golden bananas like bowser does with peach(at least latley but personally I never get tired of it), although he has had some change in plans for his evil schemes from time to time. For me, Super Mario 3-D World is the best game I've gotten by far for Wii U.

Who knows though, maybe I'll try playing a demo of Tropical Freeze in a store like best buy or gamestop sometime to see if I change my mind, though it's highly unlikley.

I might just be grasping at straws here, but I noticed Diddy still sort of resembles how he does in Brawl. What I mean is, he still resembles Diddy of DKC 1-3 than Returns and Tropical Freeze, besides his hat. This could be because the team is just working off what the characters were like in Brawl, but Diddy doesn't even have his new backpack. Maybe Sakurai is just isn't gonna follow what Retro did and actually give us K. Rool.

The guy who wrote the trophy description in Brawl was just an idiot who didn't know much about the DK series. Here's what MarioWiki says about it:

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, K. Rool's trophy information erroneously states that Kaptain K. Rool is the brother of King K. Rool, when in reality, the two characters are one in the same. It was thought that they were two different people in the Japanese Super Donkey Kong continuity, and the editors left that information unchanged. However, the case instead seems to be that the relation between K. Rool's personas was never made apparent in Japanese materials, so the fact that they were meant to all be the same character was an obscure detail in Japan. Therefore, this statement can be disregarded due to the writer's lack of knowledge on the Donkey Kong Country series. However, the intro of the Japanese Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2 apparently confirms that they are the same person.

Yeah, hence the 'luck' part (that, and him getting in to begin with). Though, with three Kirby characters being Brawl starters, you never know for sure.

I've been thinking about it a bit, and here's what I think: K. Rool could be a starter actually. I'd think we'd at least get one of the vet series get a newcomer.
Not overly likely, but unless we get Chrom, I think K. Rool or Ridley have at least decent chances.
